I'm going through the top 20 Favorite Video Game Songs of all time as voted on by my community. This came in at number 12!
While it took me a while to jump on the Undertale cover train of 2016, I played Undertale very close to release and was blown away much like most who played the game. I remember distinctly sitting in a video game bar playing on my laptop not realizing that I was coming to the close of the pacifist run and had to hold myself back from LITERALLY crying in the club.
I've always loved this song and being the second time I've covered it, I went as big as I could with it. With the inclusion of Save the World at the end, I arranged a full orchestra just to set the size I wanted to go for. I knew it would be very far back in the mix even while doing so, but I focused on really highlighting what's important here rather than trying to let everything be heard. The entire session file had 123 individual track channels of different instruments from accordions, ocarinas, atmosphere synths, and even vibraphone. I really poured a lot into this one and hope it comes across.

Everyone seems to focus on Megalovania, but Hopes and Dreams was always my top song from Undertale. After everything (and despite everything), finally overcoming all those challenges, experiencing all those characters, this song was so inspiring and encouraging. You could say it filled me with D E T E R M I N A T I O N to finish strong.

I'm only really familiar with the game via the music, but I totally agree. Megalovania is great, but I just think this song has everything. It communicates that it's a serious fight that couldn't be anything less than a final boss, but communicates so much "hope" at the same time. It sounds like defiance and possibility. You've likely heard it, but StringPlayerGamer also did an absolutely incredible cover of it.

One of the very few games to ever make me weep. I still remember when Asriel used his final laser attack and the health went from 1 to .5 to smaller decimals. Truly staying determined indeed. "You held onto your hopes...you kept holding on."

The greatest moment in my gaming life may not have come directly from Undertale, but Hopes and Dreams / SAVE the World were the soundtrack for it as it happened. 3 and a half years of buildup came down to one moment and hearing this made me relive it in my head all over again. My community might not be able to save every player that is looking for help, but when enough of us come together, it feels like we really can save the world. Thank you.

@@MrLegendofLP There are two videos on my channel - “It’s The End.” starts the title for both. The Maxout Game video encompasses just that one moment, but the longer video is the full stream which ran multiple hours and has timestamps for games of significance in the description. I run a Tetris 99 community dedicated to helping people get a particularly pain in the ass achievement, and having been there from the beginning we had like 4-5 people who had it to over 60 now, and are still helping others pretty much every day. The short video, I am one game away from hitting the game’s maximum level and a player on the small team is one small win away from unlocking the achievement. 3.5 years of playing come down to that ONE game.

I honestly see Hopes and Dream along with Save the World as my "fight song" of sorts. I say this cause it encapsulates how i felt when in high school, the ups and the downs. I almost didnt make it to the stage, almost didnt get to toss my graduation cap and scream into the sky in victory over my pesonal demon at the time. Save the World is how i felt during the graduation, all the hope and happiness busrting out in one big burst. So i know no one will probably read this but stay strong. And thanks jules for covering this song. Brought me to tears.

All these tracks from the list have all absolutely hit. The mixing is so fucking good! I’m personally way more fan of the ‘not so heavy’ metal where it isn’t *just* distorted guitar and these top 20 tracks have all been very much to my liking. This was one of a few covers you've done that's actually made me tear up a bit. Amazing cover on an amazing song! This song just symbolises everything what Undertale is about and I think the ending would not have hit that hard if not for this wonderful track playing while you're fighting for your life against the "big bad". Can't wait to hear what songs managed to beat this song in the top 20.
