When I saw my first Fates Warning video clip I asked myself why this one guitarist is so well-dressed. What a strange guy! It made a lasting impression on me. When I hear the name Fates Warning in my mind's eye the first thing I see is a guitarist with a white shirt behind a wire fence.

Aight just put some on my esp. I definitely notice the darker tone. My d string snaped in the tuner which was annoying but now they're all stretched out and they hold tune amazingly well. Well done. I feel a lot more confident with going crazy with the trem now as it seems to always reset perfectly. Will probably jump on the subscription model since I'll need more packs for touring

Also chords sound better and much more evenly spaced out if that makes any sense

Using these strings with my Ibanez AZ and the Gotoh 510 Bridge, my strings basically stay in tune at all times.

Awesome! This is so exciting! Please tell me you will have a coated/treated option as well? Just ordered three sets and can’t wait to try them

ZOG (Zachary) guitars invented progressive tension many years ago. But, they where hard to obtain. Horizon perfected it and made it accessible. I stand by their product. Only strings I will ever use. Not even remotely curious about the rest.

Yes good to see that another person has commented that ZOG created the science of progressive tension strings. I have been using them for over 15 years. A question, have Horizon Devices acknowledged this? If not they should not claim that they invented it. They even copied the name from ZOG strings. ZOG will only sell their strings to ZOG guitar owners now so the availability is almost non existent. I have been reusing my bass strings from years and years. Even now my bass still sounds better than anything out in the market. Progressive Tension Strings are the only correct string you can buy. The science actually works much better for bass guitars as our strings have tensions all over the place.

How about neck warping? Wouldn't having more tension on one side then the other cause your guitar neck to warp?
@Zordid0
@Zordid0 2 года назад
Another question. Would this fit in a 30 scale 8 string, string thru body bridge.

Tension is all down to preference, there isn’t a right or wrong answer here. Good marketing angle though.

Any plans for a set tailored for 24.75 scale length 6 strings? Or will the standard set do?
@HorizonDevices
@HorizonDevices 2 года назад
The Standard set will still be great in that range!

It blows my mind that so many top-level players like Slash will play the standard Ernie Ball strings, and be completely fine with them. I've been playing NYXL strings for a while now, and last time i played EB slinkys, the sound felt so flat and completely lacking sustain. Im sure part of it is sponsorship, but i cant fathom that people wouldn't seek out the best of the best.

My Les Paul sounds better with the eb's. The 7 string Jackson likes the nyxl's better. Different pickups, or wood maybe but just my opinion on my 2 favorite guitars i own. Playing the nyxl's feel better under my fingers, but the slinks have a mid/low mid growl to em on the LP that the nyxl's don't give me
@Spoofaged
@Spoofaged 2 года назад
Nvm, it's the not even slinkys that I use on the LP. Usually drop d or c. Used to use the skinny top, fat bottoms that sounded nice too, but wanted a little fatter bottom

With ernie ball in particular I've noticed that their thicker strings are nothing short of dog shit. Their baritone set (13-72) is the absolute worst sounding set of strings I've ever used. On my baritone currently I use a custom 13-70 curt mangan set and im pretty much done looking for new strings, these are the best. I also restrung my E standard guitar recently with EB hybrid slinkies and got a pre-corroded string, so I think I'm done with ernie ball.
