I have the feeling that after Patch 1.21 and the DLC the visuals are improved. In terms of performance there is no issue at all regardless what performance mode you are using.
I noticed immediately the base game looks way better : draw distance sharpness is increased, lighting quality too, pop-ins while flying are notably less visible and some environemental textures seem to have been enhanced, probably to try to match as closely as possible the visual quality of the DLC.
If i remember correctly, the new DLC was made with and for the PS5 hardware, as before the devs still had to design the game to be playable on PS4. So this DLC definitely has some major visual updates, i'm not sure if this effects the main game tho.
They could have easily given us a 60 fps option with a patch by now, as current gen consoles can easily handle it. But they clearly have other plans. Such as releasing a "definitive edition" and charging us full price again. It's Rockstar we're talking about. They definitely don't do any charity. 😆
I downloaded the DLC and haven't played it yet, but I also thought the game seem to look better, thanks for that. Also when you download the DLC, you can use the new skill in the old section, and I am having a blast with them. I'm in no rush, just having fun with the new skills.
Dude I play it on balanced mode 40 fps, it's the best graphic settings for me. Balance between fidelity and performance. I hope all future ps5 games will have a minimum of 40fps framerate with better fidelity than performance modes. Forget the 30fps mode. 40fps should be the bare minimum
Omg this is so beautiful !!! 🤩👏 I have this game on PS5 but I haven’t already played it with my S95B… can’t wait to do it and buy Burning Shores then !! But I have so many games to do, and 2 kids in the house… 😅 thanks for the video, I will not forget all your videos about this game when I will finally play it !! 😁👍
@@jesusalberto3145 Thanks a lot for The advice ! 👍 But I didn’t update my S95B since 1304 firmware… so everything looks fine on my S95B for The moment ! Even in game HDR HGiG ! 😎👌 But if someday my S95B auto update for some reason I will Go and check The service menu to bring it back to life !! 😂👍
@@Bibfive5 yeah if your on firmware 13XX Yyour better of staying there and unplugging from internet even though I feel that image is a little overly brightened. Although, with the tv updated to 1430 and max lux set to 138 EOTF pq has been measured to track perfectly with the tv and looks beautiful. Ps5 hdr calibration screen is clipping at 18 clicks
@@jesusalberto3145 I think they did this to be close to the Sony A95K, I saw some news talking about that fact… 🤔🤷♂️ About colors being dull in firmware 1430. For my part I prefer colors pops of 1304 firmware, for video games it is so much better I think ! 🤩 But with firmware 1304 Tizen is really slow and buggy sometimes… I read that in 1430 it’s faster and less buggy !! So I hesitated many times to update my S95B but I prefer to keep my colors and picture quality of 1304 firmware ! Sad to have to do choices like this with a TV that costs so much money 💰… after 8 months I already have a dead pixel too… I called Samsung but the warranty about pixels works only after a minimum of 5 dead pixels 😩
Thank you as always @gamingtech. Appreciate you as always, and your site has become my go to for many games. One quick question- do you happen to use the pulse 3d at all? I assume you use a higher fidelity device, but figured I’d ask, since after I replaced the ear pads I’ve come to quite enjoy them. Thanks as always
Hi! they have released a new update the 1.22 and to me it feels like the performance is improved on balanced mode. it feels more 60s fps than ever. it's flawless in this moment. i don't know what they did but it's better. SMOOOTH LIKE BUTTER! 😀
I did not buy the dlc yet. But after the update 1.021, the game itself looks much better than before. So I assume, without the DLC content, only patch 1.021 itself can improve the game a lot.
I have calibrated settings for LgCX, C9 with Service remote. COLOR TEMP- Warm RED GAIN - 192 GREEN GAIN - 168 BLUE GAIN 145 RED CUT - 64 BLUE CUT - 64 GREEN CUT - 64 BACKLIGHT- 34. It works on both SDR AND HDR. Try and tell me what you think.
Hey bro I just pulled the trigger on a 77 inch C2. I was thinking about getting the G3 but didn't want to go down to 65 inches and the price to me is just too high for 77.
The Best Hdr calibration for this game is to setup the system level calibration first on PS5 and then using the in game settings simply raise or reduce the highlight level until you can clearly see all the cloud details in the middle of the test image for example my specific television I had to lower the highlights 4 clicks below 0 and that’s perfect and every tv is gonna be slightly different but if you push it up too max levels you’re destroying the details and so simply pay attention to the cloud details and either increase or lower the highlight setting until it’s the brightest possible without losing detail……..
@Milk 67 I had the xbox series x since summer last year and just got a ps5 3 days ago the exclusive games are miles ahead of xbox exclusive games, they look good and smooth and play well and aren't boring
I have already finished the original game, but I will finish this and the original game again if it comes to PC as soon as possible that my RTX 4090 will enjoy :)
Not 1 of, it IS thee BEST lookin' game ever made currently. Its the most amazing thing I ever seen on a screen in my 40 years on Earth and in my 36 years of gaming. EVER.
I'm so happy to see this level of graphics with guerilla game. Imagine this will be a the standard for the upcoming open world games, so other open world game devs like R* with GTA VI or UBUSOFT wuth their AC and WD series, need to look at horizon forbidden west graphics as a reference.
Absolut! Das kommende Avatar-Spiel von Ubisoft tut mir echt leid... HFW hat das Fliegen einfach nur perfekt implementiert, eine Steigerung ist eigentlich nicht möglich...
Hi! I just wanted to say: Thanks for your videos Because I'll be getting a Hisense 8UH TV And I have watched a lot of your videos Just to know how to adjust hdr and other things on ps5 and to see how the performance is on different games like this one with vrr on. Thanks man!
If the shimmering is gone i need to check it! I could not play this game on my tv even in 4k cause of the shimmering. The visuals where great on my 4k 28 inch monitor but even then looking up close i could see shimering of lights, especially blue and red. In viusals that was a huge disadvantage to other games that are very sharp. Need to see it to believe it ;)
I prefer HFR (High Frame Rate) over any other setting. Playing this game and similar like God Of War and Last Of Us Part 1 around 60-90fps is amazing. Much prefer that fluidity versus anything else and quality is still very sharp around 2k resolution.
I prefer higher frame rates for the most part. But I found myself using balanced mode in this DLC. Performance mode doesn't look bad at all. But it is slightly too grainy to me for such a detailed game. And 40fps is playable enough. So I used that and liked it most. If it weren't so detailed I would use the Performance mode.
I’ll copy and paste my comment for you so you can get proper hdr…… The Best Hdr calibration for this game is to setup the system level calibration first on PS5 and then using the in game settings simply raise or reduce the highlight level until you can clearly see all the cloud details in the middle of the test image for example my specific television I had to lower the highlights 4 clicks below 0 and that’s perfect and every tv is gonna be slightly different but if you push it up too max levels you’re destroying the details and so simply pay attention to the cloud details and either increase or lower the highlight setting until it’s the brightest possible without losing detail
@@CityBoi954 0 blurs a bit the image for me. Maybe its my eyes but 0 can be the standard when watching movies but in gaming I see sharper image at 20 for example.
The game is truly gorgeous. But I've recently have been getting game crashes specifically on one of the main mission "Heaven and Earth" and I'm basically stuck. Has anyone had some similar issues? I'm getting error code 108255-1. Any suggestion would be apprecited.
HOW TF a "less powerfull console" has outstanding amazing graphics and the "most powerful console" runs games who looks like wii, not even ps3, wii?????? All hail Sony then ♥ PS5 is the only truly next gen console in the market!
Yeah, running shores is probably going to make me want to go back and replay forbidden West when I get finished with burning shores again.. #JESUSMATTERS!!!!
Too Hell with 30 fps lol I gotta do the 60 fps Vrr mode which can hit upwards of around 75 to 80 at times and even the balanced 40fps mode is too slow for my preference as 60fps is the standard minimum for my enjoyment
@@DoomiePookie yea but it’s unlocked frame rate when using Vrr in performance mode and then there’s the 40fps balanced mode and the standard 30fps quality mode…….. You’ve gotta have a 120fps Vrr capable hdmi 2.1 television in order to get the unlocked frame rate, and balanced 40fps mode though because otherwise you’ll have only performance and quality by themselves
Marcus one of the best looking open worlds ? Name me a better looking open world than horizon ? Their isn’t it is the best looking open world game 😂 I’m playing in balanced mode and it’s blown me away it’s waaaaaay more sharper
@@marvindiyco2377 what a bunch of bollox. I have a high end tv that can play 4k 120hz VRR. 60hz performance is always much better then 30/40 fps quality. Motion resolution is double from 30 and aboutc1/2 from 40 fps. Even if the resolution is higher at 30/40 you actually most of the time ses LESS of resolution since most of the time you are moving and as such you are always blurry image. Also you get about the same input lat at 60hz 60 fps compared to 120hz 40 fps but compared to 120hz 40 fps you still get 9ms of lower blur. And just like 30 fps 40 fps is also ridiculously choppy. So seeing grass pop 10% less is not ever worth 30/40 fps.
@@marvindiyco2377 I am not talking about consistency of the frame pacing. I am talking 40 fps how choppy it in itself looks. Not much better then 30 fps at all. I tried both 30 and 40 fps. Both choppy or strobby as fuck.
@@marvindiyco2377 Literally 40 fps is almost as stuttery as 30 fps. just because you can't see the strobbing effect or choppy effect as 30 fps gives off that's on you. anything bellow 60 shouldn't exist any longer. There is nothing that you can "get right" with framerate standard. It is what it is. You can't make it look like 60, you can just make it much blurrier 40 fps to hide the choppy effect 40 fps gives of but then you are sacrificing motion resolution for choppy effect. And in any case you still have much lower motion resolution with 40 fps then with 60 and lower 60 fps resolution is literally much better then higher resolution with 40 fps. AND with high framerate VRR you get double the motion resolution (usually games are 60-90 vrr HFR) but when they are around 120 fps then you get TRIPPLE the motion resolution. So literally on console anything sub 60 is just garbage. regardless of whether you get couple of objects more in the view space as well as slightly better LOD at higher distances... It's all useless when you can't even perceive all that detail through loss of motion resolution.
Ya... I honestly don't mind the "woman power" elements to it. Though a couple of times in the base game, it got a bit too much to not roll an eye at. For the most part everything is subtle enough, just with some "woke" elements. And the world, story, and characters are mostly good. And visuals fantastic. However the DLC kind of overdid it. The "new" villain wasn't new at all. And the "progressive" elements seemed too blatent. The Zeniths were fine enough as villains at first. But this time it's just overdone. The guy was cartoonishly evil. And it's painfully obvious they want to paint the rich as all evil who don't care about others or the world or whatever. And done in a pretty clumsily and heavy handed way. In the DLC especially. And to literally no one's surprise, the want to make the new companion and Aloy a lesbian couple. Wow. Who could have possibly seen that coming, aside from literally everyone. Now, I wouldn't mind this as much if I weren't sick to death of it. And I was hoping they would do something more interesting with Seyka. But instead she was EXACTLY as expected. Basically the same character as Aloy, spent the whole time just cheering eachother on. And no interesting character dynamic between them. Honestly story wise this DLC was a miss. It didn't add anything new to the story or world. It was just a little more of the same thing. The visuals were fantastic. The final boss was a real showpiece. But I was ultimately disappointed.
I played horizon forbidden west last week for the first time and I can only agree. Its a really boring game and the dialog and characters are so bland and boring. The only good is graphics and some of the voice actors. The dialog on the other hand is horrible. 10 hours played and then i uninstalled.
Ya... For the most part the world, story, and characters are mostly good. And visuals fantastic. It's an interesting premise and the story had some unexpected turns I didn't expect. And I appreciate that. But especially after this DLC, I think I've lost interest. My thoughts on the game are mixed. In a lot of ways, it's fantastic. Even a lot of ways with the story. But at the same time it's just feeling blah now. The Zeniths are 2D cartoonishly evil villains. The new DLC didn't add anything new to the story or world as a whole. Same villain, same plan. Rather disappointing honestly. And the character dynamic between Aloy and Seyka was bland. They are basically the same character and just spent the whole time cheering eachother. Also bland. And to literally no one's surprise they want to make them a couple. No one didn't see that coming from the second the DLC was shown. A shame they did it anyways. I don't know. They are both good and bland at the same time now. Maybe it's just disappointing that they don't do more interesting things within such an interesting overarching plot and world.
