In my headcannon Nil is to Aloy what Travis Tate was to Elisabet: that very skilled but very opposite personality that still reminds them of that darker part of their mind that relishes the thrill and keeps them focused on their higher goals.
@@tuck295q I just beat the game this weekend and it seems like it was more delusion than truth. Alva basically says as much. The title was an honorific that he let go to his head.
Ah yes when like when Erend was talking about tracking down his sister and he’s supposed to angry, but his face just look like he didn’t seem that bothered lol
Each interaction in Forbidden West is more engaging too. I recall in Zero Dawn with its interactions that I would sometimes find myself wondering when the conversation would end lol
@@PinoyLifeStyle320 ah yes back to my Erend talking about Ersa moment, where he didn’t look that bothered by it, his hands were waving around like he was swatting a fart
All true, but it's weird seeing expressions on Nil's face -- I actually preferred his blank, sociopathic affect, even though it was a side-effect of the earlier's game's cruder rendering
It's such a funny idea. Nil sees her on the track and specifically targets her, trying to run her over potentially causing brutal injury or death, all because it's what he knows as respect. Nil is a legend.
Nil takes the whole Frenemy thing to a whole new positive level . Its like being best friends with a Drug lord or serial killer . One of you can die any time , but life would not be the same without each other . ohyeah ... the batman and joker type relationship .
I guess when you don't care about the war crimes you committed it's not a stretch that they be nonchalant about there only friends doing there on thing. It's funny how an psychopath is more understand to aloy then most of the people she meets
I friggin' love Nil. His dialogue is always so entertaining. He's ... buffed up too. Or at least, I didn't realise just how buff he was until he took that Carja outfit off. :)
@@monke3719 yep fairly certain it's Canon as if you did every side quest in zero dawn as you find Petra and Vanasha and references to cyan and even more nicely we find reference to the oseram delver from the dam in the frozen wilds in form of a not, and not to mention of course Nil.
In an odd way, I found that Nil and Aloy's dynamic was pretty refreshing. They each know what the other is and don't resent each other in the slightest. I think Nil feels like he's found a blood bond with someone who doesn't judge and he can be who he likes without fear of rejection from Aloy. IDK, that's just what I'm thinking in my brain space...
That's what I think too. It's why I love him so much. Aloy accepts he's a killer by impulse (in HZD) but she respects and JOINS him on his hunts. He's such a well written character, and I think he's the only male character that respects Aloy for ALL she is without any selfish ideas or intentions (Like Erend being a butthurt asshat when you first find him in HFW). Idk. It's a great dynamic. After the world is saved, I could see them slaughtering bandits and nefarious groups together.
@@tfurxrdftrxrdrdtf yeah ditto. Regrettably I was spoiled because when it comes to new games (at the time), gotta beware lol. But once i found out, I made it my mission to complete all the races and listen to the dialog 😄
First they put badass Kotallo in the game, then they bring back Nil… they knew what they were doing, well played. He is exactly like Janeva said, a conscious blade
"Last person who tried got beat up so bad, pretty sure something got knocked loose in there." -> "It was a great bonding moment." This made me laugh so hard that I had to put a pause to racing. I love all the NPC interactions in Forbidden West.
I love Nil! He was the coolest npc in HZD in my opinion. I always declined his challenge he's heartbroken about it, but it guaranteed that he would fight by your side to save meridian.
In Zero Dawn, Nil isn't one of the allies you need to get the Assembled Allies trophy. After you do all the Bandit Camps, Nil wants to fight Aloy. You can accept or decline. If you accept, Aloy kills Nil. If you decline, Nil will be at Meridian.
Hell that's freaking awesome that he's in this game! I honestly never would have recognized him without his old headdress. Am kind of surprised Aloy did. Would recognize his voice anywhere tho :)
i kinda knew it was Nil when Red Teeth first showed up, i think Nil is pretty much the only character who has silver eyes in Horizon (Next to Helis but we all know Helis is dead lol)…and he had the signature red feathers on his helmet as well; but the buffer body shape and his fake voice threw me and i was thinking it’d be Drakka in disguise…and maybe Nil was The Enduring instead?? so happy to see my psycho homeboy in HFW though, he was my favorite in the first game and i was praying with everything that at least he’d have a cameo. that little wink he gives Aloy is everything ugh.
Of course he's alive. Since Forbidden West, it doesn't matter if you won the duel, the Lore choice now is that you declined the duel and he helps Aloy fight hades at meridian at the end of Zero Dawn.
Nil was my favorite NPC in HZD. So unpredictable and off-the-wall in his responses/behavior. Most NPCs have predictable responses/attitudes. But not Nil. I had no clue what he might say/do whenever I met him.
Remember in HZD if you don't team up with him before starting with the bandit camps, he tells her that he watched her take them out and "pricked his finger" on his arrows for each kill? 🙃
It took me sooo many tries to finish that last race, but I'm so happy that I didn't give up, this was a huge surprise! Also I forgot about Aloy's plastic barbie face in HZD lmao, this really shows how much the graphics have improved
Got to the second last race where Aloy talks to "Red Teeth" and I was like "well, he has to be someone we know, otherwise what's the point in having his identity be a secret", so I thought for a bit and the only person I could think of was Nil, but even then I was like "no, is it, no, it could be, hmmmm". When it was revealed I slapped my chair armrest and yelled "I knew it!"
You know with all the new and more deadlier enemies Nil would have a perpetual boner of a time constantly fighting battles except with the zeniths who cant really fight or put up much of a fight besides flexing their invincibility cheats and AOE attacks because they cant aim to save their own ass ..
I was so happy when I noticed nil in the credits at the end of the game. I knew he must be in the game somewhere. Wish we could have him join us capturing reble outposts though.
Guerrilla games creates the hottest, most charming character in the Horizon universe (I would say in gaming) then gives him a tiny role and hides him behind a mask, not fair 😒
I already knew Nil being alive was cannon so I was kind of expecting him in the this game but surprised to see in this sense. Nice twist Guerrilla Games:)
I didn't regret not killing him in HZD, because it turns out he reappeared for the battle of Meridian. EVERYONE who left an impression on me during my playthrough showed up in Meridian. It was a very good vibe and an even better 'remedy' after the whole Apollo purge twist. I'm so glad they made Aloy sparing Nil's life as canon.
Nil respects her! That's why he wanted them to fight to the death. Nil loves the fight, the kill, and Aloy is the ultimate challenge. It's why he was heartbroken if she chose not to kill him. I love a passionate man 😍😂
@@skins4thewin take the fact that his a psycho and let’s see you switched with more of a Robin Hood dexter type of personality and she would be intrigued. In there first encounter she definitely check him out lol
There are a LOT of people on Horizon reddit who demean, belittle and downright bully other fans for liking Nil/hoping he'll show up in HFW. I'm relieved it's not the same on RU-vid.
What? That’s crazy. I know Nil is a psychopath but how can people actually hate his character? Besides, he at least chooses to only hunt and kill bad people from what we know.
Nil from Zero dawn is already hot enough I prefer him over Avad but in Forbidden west instead of usual headdress and Carja outfit he chose face paint and to show body hair. God I love him.
Hell yeah, Carja's Bane! Probably the first Giant killer you'll get in the game. Aka a weapon with enough potential to fell the giants in seconds. Gotta admit tho, seeing Nil again would have been reward enough for me. Now I just hope that Brin is in the DLC!
I still hadn't beat the final race yet, too many wonky glitchy controls on the last two. But for some strange reason I suspected he might be Nil. I don't even know why. I remember killing him in the first game, only in watching this video I didn't realize I could have spared him. In all my replays I never chose that path. Relieved to find Nil still is alive. I wish there was more of him, I really liked his Character.
Dueling him wasn't even worth it. You only get 5000 XP. I reset and declined. Then he came to the final battle. Worth it. You can just kill a medium machine site for that reward, which there's one right next to the site you meet him for the final confrontation. I love Nil though.
This was so surprising. I thought for sure they’d keep him out in case players wanted to kill him in the first game. I guess that’s just not canon. Happy to see him though. He looks great.
Well the trophy for All Allies Joined to platinum the game requires him to be alive so I guess that is the canon choice. I expected the same thing though and was so excited to see him again!
This character is the, "Oh boy! Here I go killing again!" in this series Damn, I really hope we see this character part of the main group in Horizon 3. Feels like such a waste to leave him on a side quest.
The reason nil is alive because Aloy would have never of fought him and the developers knew this, the fact that you as the gamer made the wrong decision, shows that you do not understand who the character of Aloy really is. She kills when she has too to survive, but she is not a colder blooded killer and believes in deescalation and truly cares as she also believe in justice. That’s why when Nil originally challenged her to the death, she would have refused to do so. Nil then would go back to his roots in the forbidden west to continue his journey and development.
Is that how it translates? Nil named his bow "The Voice of Our Teeth" in the English-language version ("Why would I name my knife? Who does that?"). And yeah, if the rumors about Red Teeth weren't clue enough, his name should have been. XD
The thing that threw me off about the man behind the mask being Nil was that the orignal Nil had no chest/belly hair whatsoever so seeing this person, despite the very prominent eyes, as Nil was nearly impossible with the mask on.
Nil would've made a better partner for Aloy than Erend. He's more handsome too than barrel body Erend 😂 but I guess Aloy is more comfortable with Erend
I’m mad at myself Nil was one of my fave characters from the first game. The last race was the only thing I didn’t complete before the final mission. I missed him.
I did wonder if I'd see Nil. He was there during the battle at the end of ZD. But before setting off to the Forbidden West, everyone was there except for Nil. Guess he's not one for crowds
I never killed him. Even on New Game+, I could never find it in me to accept his duel. Beating those stupid gauntlet runs was brutal, but it was nice to see him again 😂😂
Seeing that Red Theet didn't have any Tenakt marks it was clear that he wasn't from the Forbidden West. And hiding his face because he is Carja. Makea sense now that I have watched it for a second time. I didn't like the racing so I haven't even started it. But Nil was my favorite character from HZD :)
His original and fastidious character design is just great. The nobleman vibe with the off kilter post war kill itch is just a bent that works for him. I killed him too though..lol
I guess this means that the option to fight him to the death in the first game isn’t canon. Which makes sense, since I also chose to spare him due to it being the most fitting option, since Aloy hates senseless violence and only fights/kills others to defend herself.
I love Aloy but I think in Horizon 3 It’d be cool if he was a double character to play as to sorta switch between. I just want to see more Nil, easily the most interesting npc in Horizon
At the very least, Nil HAS TO become an official member of Aloy's crew in Horizon 3. I need to see him interacting with everyone. Notice how there's no Carja member in Horizon 2.
Wow! i hate racing mini games so this was a mission I assumed id never play. And offc it has my favorite character! i had hoped id run into him the whole game, and I even used his eyes tattoos the whole time. Never knew he was hiding in this quest lol woulda been cool if ther ewas a secret dialogue if your wearing his eye tattoos when you meet him
WOOOOW, I thought I wasn't gonna see him in the game again, 'cause the last time we were given the options to let him alive or kill him. Either way, I'm so so happy to see him again.
"Loved" to have received that spoiler in my main page on youtube. Must mean you have good engagement. Congratulations to you and sorry me for getting spoiled.
I ship these two way harder than anyone else in the game. Seriously, it's like Hannibal and Clarice in "The Silence of the Lambs". One is a psychopath, the other a hero, they kinda love to hate each other, but ultimately, I'm with Alloy on this one... glad Nil found a "less dangerous" hobby and survived 😂
Spoiled it for me with this video but I'm not mad 😄 happy to see Nil is in the game, he was my favorite character from HZD, great to see him but also disappointed because I hoped there would be more missions with him, I guess it's better than nothing
So if you win the race after the last conversation, Nil will have more lines to say afterwards but it's done by a different voice actor it was weird I hope they keep the original voice actor if they plan for more Nil in the future because he's amazing I didn't like the new one at all they could've at least made him speak the same way.
