Love this airplane! I'm new to the hobby and this was a big step up from a carbon cub trainer. Mine has been crashed really bad but I got it back in flying condition. Definitely a handful for a 2nd airplane but it handles the Western Pennsylvania wind well. Mine has battle scars but I still love it!

I'm new to the hobby as well and I'm really digging this airplane but I am hesitant to try it for a 2nd plane. Would you say this is more of a 3rd plane than a 2nd? I thought about buying it and putting it up but we all know what will happen....I don't think I will be able to keep my hands off of it.

I've done about 20 flights with my commander. I got some confidence with some aerobatic maneuvers ... the plane crashed to the ground for my mistake. The lipo has caught fire and there is nothing left of the plane. This plane is too good, I immediately got a new one :-) I hadn't crashed any planes yet, I knew it would happen. You two are doing great videos, great piloting skills and great video shooting job

Living on the great plains with constant wind, this plane is looking more attractive. I didn't like the looks initially but it's growing on me.

Hi, I have a question and I know you can help me, My Aprentice STS came with the receiver SPM4650C (same as the Carbon CUB) and the flight controller is SPMA 3230 (the one in the Carbon Cub is SPMA3230A), for the Carbon Cub was so easy to install the flaps, now I am doing for the Aprentice, but I am not able to find how to activate the channel 8 which is available in the flight controller at the Aprentice, I am using the NX10 Transmitter, could you please give me some directions, thanks.

Nice jobs guys! Really enjoyable flight! My Commander mPd will be here tomorrow! Hopefully, weather permitting, I can Maiden it this weekend. Did you say you replaced the ESC with a 60amp? What about props? Horizon's optional parts shows a 13x8. Stock is 12x6. Have you tried any other props, or have any recommendations? What about a Xoar wood prop for it? Thanks in advance! Keep up the great work guys!

Yep, we're using a 60 amp ESC in this model just to give it some headroom in case we run a stronger prop. We haven't flown anything but the stock 12x6 on it yet.

On your commander is the 2200 , Lipo. Or the 3200 , better? For performance flying?

2200 is better - lighter weight is always preferable.

I did the same thing with mine in some smoother 20-25 knot winds. It flew just fine only getting buffeted around a small but significant amount. The down wind legs go really fast. When there is no wind I find this model hard to slow down, it just keeps going even with the flaps full down. With the wind though, it lands nicely. You had considerably higher winds on that flight and I'm not sure that would even be fun flying on a day like that if it really was 30-40 gusts.

I usually don't fly in high winds, either, but I decided to take my own advice and step out of the comfort zone I've been in. We now fly on days with higher winds to prove that it's completely safe to do so and in many ways even more enjoyable than calm days.

@@TwoBrosRC If you have a tree line, be careful not to go over the back side of it as down drafts can push it down quickly.

I got mine 5 days ago, got 10 flights on it then lost it in a tree. I immediately ordered another one. I've been flying RC planes for 25+ years and this one is the best all around flyer.

Haha, I still have 2 ORIGIONAL Commander MPD's, great in winds..my all weather plane..plenty of power on 4s, mine hovers on light 4s, fast even on only 3s..getting to ground with full flaps @ slightly higher approach speed in high winds then cutting power @ 6" on a precision landing (or full power go around) in "undecided winds" It isn't designed to be 3D but it's great for scale acrobatics of more traditional sense, a little nose heavier makes an excellent low wing/performance trainer, intro to acrobatics..without insane 3D rate of roll have to fly higher, but flies very slow & very fast, does lazy putter or acro all in one plane. *I'LL GET THE NEW BLUE ONE & PUT SKIS ON IT FOR WINTER!🥶

Hallo, Bin bisher den Conscendo Evolution geflogen. Überwiegend mit ASX. Würde mir sehr gerne den neuen Commander bestellen. Die Frage...??? Schaffe ich es, ihn zu fliegen und zu Landen??? You should be OK flying it if you've got some flight experience, but taildraggers can be difficult.

A calm day wont make a good pilot! I usually, (& am used to) fly in a 15 to 20mph breeze. 30mph+ are awesome! GOTTA stay on ur toes, cause wind sheer is inevitable! (& A blast!) Umx Ultrix in 25mph + winds WILL make or break a 'decent' pilot. Aint no fun unless 1 WILL push their limits!🤷
