I bought one of these and it's actually quite a bit improved ont he last one. these guys figured out the classic issues like the tail not keeping up during flight, or during spool up/down, the nano cpx and cps kinda spun there. the head is quite stable and it take forward flight well. I was very happy to find out with my computerized radio I can turn off the Z buffer functionality but keep the rotational stabilizers on. thanks blade! great small heli
I kinda wish the radio would self center the throttle/CP on idle up or at least some sort of on radio feedback telling me I’ve crossed the line between positive and negative pitch.
Shame it doesnt work properly with older Spektrum transmitters, I have a DX7s and cant get all three flight modes, would have been great if the setting in the manual actually worked, any help would be great
It's an awesome little heli, I just got this been flying it at the park over grass trying to learn 3d before i start flipping my larger helis i.e: 230sv2 and it's very durable.
I do think this is a little problem ,I have just bought one of these and have flown old school helicopters.It calls it Stability Mode Z ,,,, not Safe Mode Z In the manual (it's the your left my left scenario not major but) . Then there's rescue vs Panic ,recovery etc .

In attempting to set up my Tx (DX8 Gen2) for the heli, I have come to conclusion that your engineers have made at least one grievous error with it. You have attempted to use" Now, to continue on from where I left off (and to get to the point of this post): They are using the "Gear" channel to tell the heli what flight mode it's in. The problem with this strategy is that the onboard electronics associate the third gear position with 100% throttle, regardless of stick position, throttle hold, or throttle curve (or what the Tx is transmitting as checked by the monitor function). The further problem with this strategy is that in order to use the heli without self leveling, one has to use that third gear position, which means that you have no control of the throttle curve. The manual instructs the mapping of the Gear channel to the flight mode switch, but if one is attempting a custom pitch curve (for each flight mode), engages Throttle Hold, and attempts to gauge the pitch in each flight mode, the heli spools up in "Stunt 2". And my normal reaction (hitting TH) was of no help when that happened. I think this is dumb. I think this is very dumb.'
I purchased an S3 about 2 months ago and it's been a lot of fun! Yesterday I was practicing and while I was hovering, moving slightly forward, the heli slammed with a lot of force to the ground as if I threw the collective pitch all the way down, but without any input from me and then it wouldn't shut off after I immediately switched the flight mode to 0. I'm using the MLP6 transmitter. Unfortunately I was over a sidewalk and hopefully the landing gear is the only damage. Not sure why it lost control. Any ideas?
Is there a video from Horizon re. how to begin using the MLP6DSM TRANSMITTER, we just got this heli, and we are BRAND NEW!! Like how to start out, checking trim etc, we know very little regarding all the little buttons. Our heli came all ready binded. Any instructors in COlorado?? We’ve studied the booklet some. Hey what batteries doo you recommend? The battery that came with it is still ok but batteries I bought on Amazon only lasted a couple weeks and they are bad.
Hi all, Hope your had some great days flying. I’ve gotten back into the hobby after a break of about 7 years when I was flying a esky belt cp and boy have things changed. I’ve got the S2 and flying it on a Jumper t12 tx and loving it. I’ve got the modes sorted but the instructions seam like gibberish regarding the panic button setup. From what I can tell when you flip the panic button channel 5 (mode switch) input should increase by 20% from what ever the current setting is. Is this correct as I don’t seam to get a response by flicking the switch I have programmed to the panic button ? Cheers and thanks in advance.
I have basic helicopter skills, will it fly out of the box, with included transmitter? or would i have to do programming and tweaks, which i'm not good at.
Horizon hobby quick question.If I fly the blade nano s2 with the MLP6DSMX transmitter,will it fly the same like in 2:50?In 2:50what transmitter was used to fly this helicopter like that?If James used the Spectrum ix12 in 2:50What about If he flies it with the MLP6DSMX?Will it fly the same?
Selecting Flight Mode two on the transmitter is what enables full-3D flight. That will be the three-position switch on the top left of the MLP6DSMX transmitter. You can find this information on page 7 and 10 in the manual.
HI re Nano s2,I am talking to HH UK about not being able to get out of Panic mode on a DX6I as per the manual settings,they have no solution and are offering to contact USA HH but I believe it is a refund job unless it can work on all 3 modes . .I have no RED leds it is bound correctly( rudder to right) it will go into IU with different settings than the manual , ie mix changed to down 0 up -80 but z mode is almost fixed at the altitude it was switched on at ,,no up no down..... Is it possible to get all 3 modes working correctly?Thanks Chris.
I have a dx6e. In mode 2 (none z mode) flies flawless. I mean it hovers perfect, and all controls work. No toilet bowl effect, tail blow out, nothing. In 3d mode in zooms straight up to the ceiling full throttle and crashes (no breaks so far), I cut throttle and down it comes. In normal mode (mode 1) I can move the rotor up and down with throttle, but get no throttle (spinning of the blades), and rudder doesn't fire up either. There is no movement of left right servos either (aileron). Programmed it using the manual for a dx8e. D/R Expo had to be programmed to switch D, as for my switch F is only 2 position. Please advise.
@@h3sh926 To be totally honest... Yes. However after purchase get on the phone and call HH to setup correctly to the "T" with your controller. Also I suggest sticking with the same size lipo, and 45C after battery is depleted, let heli rest for 10 to cool down motor and use another. Don't do 200mah, or higher. It'll add weight, and heat. Sure more flight time, but ever so slightly and motor will wear out quickly. I have many other helis and this is the only one out of the box that hovers in just one spot. Now if I could just get Z Mode, and 3d to work. I would also highly recommend dual rates with expo on a 3 position switch. Like 70 to 70 expo 15, 85 to 85 expo 15, and then 100 to 100 expo nothing.
Satyan Patel thank you for the tip! I am likely going to pick it up from my hobby store some time soon. I am a bit worried that so many of these blade Helis have mixed reviews concerning durability and out of the box functionality. I guess we will see how lucky I get.
@@h3sh926 I have to say Blade Helis and Drones are very durable. So is their Inductrix VTOL.The ones that voice their opinion are usually a small margin. Those that are successful or are enjoying their product rarely speak up. So you end up reading more negative reviews. Indoor helis I have crashed into drywall, furniture, carpet and tiled floor so many times learning, and yet to replace anything, but the motor. I have brushed helis and after about 80 or more runs the brushed motor wears out. For around 10-12 dollars and your time replacing it, your up in the air again. Why not brushless you may ask? Higher rotation speed requiring much more concentration from me. I enjoy simple cruising.
Heads up to all. I got all 3 modes working perfect after a quick call to HH. I had the bind in non computer mode. I would hold rudder to the right after binding, but I never was quick enough. The canopy light was blue, but after looking really really close (like shoving my eye in there) inspection I finally could see that a red light was also on. After really really close inspection the canopy color had a purple hue. After binding correctly there was only a solid blue led. So after getting all 3 modes working it is like owning 3 helis in one. The z mode makes the nano fly like a coaxial rotor heli. That means very very stable and super easy. Like the MCX2 from blade. the 2nd normal mode feels like a collective pitch heli in which it is. It requires a bit more skill, but practice with flying with tail towards you in a right hand and left hand square. Then tail away from you same square style. Then after mastering that, then figure 8 over and over. Then opposite figure 8 for muscle memory. The 3d mode really does feel 3d, and it isn't for the faint of heart, or me. Still recommend this heli it flies awesome.
Can I change the recover to different one let's just say that I want to take a walk care of Master CP receiver out of the work Carol helicopter and I want to put in the fly sky receiver and change that out will that work
I'm having a problem in 3d mode. The led turns red. It is so unstable. I can only hover for a few seconds then all hell breaks loose. It becomes totally un-controllable bouncing off the walls or floor any ideas. Using a DX6i. I was looking forward to hovering inverted around the house.
Hi not saying this will help, but I could not even get red leds ie stuck in easy modes, this is what helped me BUT I don't know if I have panic mode yet (only had one flight to test and then the wind picked up ,only purchased 2 days ago) MIX 1 now changed to down is 0 up is now -100 Found it on a forum .Seems difficult /random to get all options working correctly on a DX6I,Chris.
What nobody is telling is how to set this up on a DX8G2. Sure I've got idle up 1 and 2 but no z mode and no stability mode no rescue mode. How the hell do I set them up on DX8G2?!!!! I can only loop it from a huge run up outside really need help with this thing. Why doesn't Spektrum give us a setup that we can download that includes all the mode settings for acros etc....
Can anyone help i am flying with a spectrum dx6e and cannot get it to work in 3d mode, it flies well in stability but it goes full throttle up in 3d! Help
It should do that, it's height is then controlled with the the throttle stick but it just changes the blade angle not the motor speed. I'm no expert In fact my z mode doesn't seem to have much down pitch, (throttle stays full on that's ok) maybe that's how it is supposed to be, but makes it hard to bring it down (have to use elevator),Chris.
I notice these cheaper ones are "for beginners" yet still have decent 3d performance that's a good way to market your helicopters. I think of my 230s v2 as a great durable 3d machine and I keep forgetting my newbie drone friends can fly it well on SAFE
Welp 3 months later I bought another XK cuz the first one dove into our pool. Then I got into flying FPV drones, now im planning to put an FPV camera on my XK. Lol I have learned a lot ever since.
I love all my Blade helis. My 270 and my 230Sv2. Absolutely love them. And then i have my Nano S2. I'm sorry. But this is the biggest piece of garbage Horizon has ever produced. Let me please explain. Bought it for an indoor heli. Got the RTF version. The main rotor starting wobbling. Ok. Broken swashplate maybe. I do all my own work on my r.c. stuff. But I'm 51 so the eyes aren't what they used to be. So took it to my local hobby shop where i purchase all my hobby stuff. The put on a new swashplate. Still had the same problem. Per Horizon i was offered a refund or replacement. I took the replacement. Less than a month later, same problem. Well now 3 weeks later. My hobby shop does not have an answer for me and they are waiting for another answer from Horizon. So, i wait. Will i continue to buy your products? Absolutely. I am just frustrated because now there is $130 of my hard earned money out there with no answer. I'm am just one person. And this might not mean anything to the company. But i just wanted to express my views on this product. Nothing but trouble. Thank you.
Hello, great flying! I've got a few questions for you... I hope you can help. I bought a Blade Nano S2 bnf and binded it with my DXe transmitter. I'm not sure how to activate Z Mode. Is it Mode 1? Mode 2 Safe and Mode 3 for 3D? Thanks for your help. Cheers and safe flying.
@@horizonhobby Hey, this might be an odd request but any chance we could get an option landing gear that supports 220 batteries for Nano 2S and future micro helis? Just a little bit of quality life for those that don't buy 150mAh ones.
Ordered this and super disappointed. Aside from some major bugs, it’s got some serious safety issues. I programmed it exactly as the instructions said and triple checked (yes I held right rudder on bind) and the motor spins up to full speed with throttle hold on in the third flight mode. Drift is crazy in whatever direction it chooses, the “safe” mode is anything but with the extremely sluggish (and not at all adjustable) ascent/descent governor that makes sure you can’t get out of the way of anything. That’s not to even mention the random directions it will go in with throttle changes. Check RC Groups and the other forums, you’ll see my issues are not unique. After this and x-vert and the litany of safety issues and bugs you guys ship your models with, I’m gonna have to abandon ship. It’s sad, because you used to be the best.
Also just curious why you wouldn’t do a BL version? If you worked out the bugs and did BL you might actually have something to compete with the Chinese. As it stands I’m attempting to get my money back and don’t plan on buying anything else from Horizon. :(
Why is it so incredibly dumbed down? No ability to adjust pitch properly, forced idle up in 3D mode instead of letting throttle curve in TX take care of it, etc...
I would go about 3 mistakes high, which I'd say is about 25 feet AGL. These are true manual flips and rolls. Not programmed. So you definitely want recovery room. If you know what you're doing, you can do them at eye level. ;)
Hate to do this brother but I can't believe you called that flat tail spin a pirouette! As if you did that! A pirouette is a nose down manoeuvre what you rotate around, it looks nothing like what you did! you did not fly this hell eclectic pitch that is to say 3D no pirouette therefore was possible. I hate when good people give bad advise! Google pirouette and see what you get then Google pirouette helicopter manoeuvre and see what you get!
I just bought this to replace my worn out trex 150. Gotta say, this is one disappointing bird. Crappy tail authority, and it just doesn't seem to work well with my DX6i transmitter. I've had many micro-heli's that work better than this one. NO WAY could this be used to stunt, at least with my settings which I've been over many times. Waste of money.
Yeah, bought myself two Xk k110 (first one rtf - x6 tx is good enough for them) for almost the same price... Brushless motor, enough power to do basic 3d, far more durable (except of the main shaft-after my first crash, i only used selfmade cfk ones), better servos (even better HK 5330 cost 3€) and the spares cost less than half the money. Never took my CPs out again since i got my first k110. To me, the CPs and S2 are not garbage (incredibly lightweight), but they are pricey and advertised to be a 3d trainer and DuRaBlE, what they are clearly not. Horizon sadly also hasn't improved its construction at the weak spots (round tail boom, Canopy made off three(!) flimsy pieces, swash breaks when look to close at it) over all the years.
