This is a video of what to expect from your new Nano S2. If you read the manual you probably noticed how strange the programming is, if you've ever programmed any other helicopter. The throttle curves and pitch curves are correct. Do what the manual says. I crashed on my first flight in Normal mode because I wasn't ready for it to balloon up and be slow to come down. If you can fly helis, just go to center stick and click into stunt 2. Oh yeah, I don't have throttle hold in stunt 2 for some reason, so if I crash I hit hold and flight mode switch at the same time. Hold works in normal and stunt 1 basically. I don't usually crash, so it doesn't bother me... Happy flying. Purchase your new Blade helicopter from Horizon Hobby withthis link. www.tkqlhce.co...

"Whoever gave this thing a 1 star review on Horizon is a bonehead." Could not agree more. Just got a Nano S3 (Coming from an old Walkera)... And wow, what a fun to fly little heli!! Stable and learner friendly, yet agile and spicy for when you want to grow. Already crashed a few times, and ZERO DAMAGE (nice thing about these micro helis). Love it. Best $100 ever spent!

Great video. Today I managed about half of what you were doing there on my S3. My space isn't as small as your yard area there and your skills keeping it contained are extremely impressive. I'd be stuck in the hedge or fetching it from the street on a mishap. How you pull off those perfect collective flips in any orientation is just super impressive. I love the Nano. The last one was a CPX and this "3 versions later" heli is smoother and with piro comp its a game changer!

Hello, I think I can help you. Do not plug in the helicopter. Go to Travel in set up in radio. Go to Pitch. Adjust the 100 on low stick to 115%, now put in Stunt 2 with your switch, now set the High stick to 115%. This will give you more pitch on the blades, therefore helping it get lift. Practice your timing. Get inverted, and go low stick and pop out of inverted to right side up. Watch some Realflight instructional videos on your sim. I have 30 years of doing this stuff. It's not easy. Just have fun. Coe Show

With every passing edition, the Blade Nano remains 1. The best trainer on the market, 2. The best micro on the market, 3. The best all around heli for pilots of ALL skill levels who are on a budget, 4. The best indoor helicopter on the market, 5. The best indoor "sized" micro for being able to fly it OUTDOORS (if you want to) on the market. And clearly, the s2 is no exception. I'm convinced the Nano LINE will never be "discontinued". Only IMPROVED as we move into new editions every few years. I am picking mine up on Wednesday! I absolutely can't wait. And yes, I agree. Anyone who would give this (or any Nano edition) a negative review "is a bonehead".

Wow, the Nano has really come a long way. I had the nano cpx way back when and I thought it was a nice heli even then. If I'm not mistaken, the nano cpx was the precursor to the nano S? Anyway, amazing skills on your part too. Made me want to pick up a nano S3 for those rainy days. Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.

It's funny but he said you can put it in mode 1 and if you want to "just fly around and get used to the collective". if you're a beginner, just doing that is not easy. Man I came back to this video today as this was the video that made me get into heli’s. Some of your other videos you talk about how it’s a dying trend since drones basically took over. I bought the nano s2 after years of messing with the blade msr/mcx/sr Then I picked up the nano s2. A completely little beast. I was skeptical about the nano s2 as it has been awhile since I bought a new heli. Saw some reviews on it and kinda let me down. Came across this video and ever since I’ve been hooked. Had the xk100 xk110 (not blade). Now I have nano s2, blade 230s v2 and the fusion 270. Today I just had the fusion 480 kit arrive. Hopefully working on it and building it tomorrow. I’m no where near as good as I wish I’d be but When I want to get better I sit back and watch your videos for motivation. I’m too here in California, not San Diego but San Jose. Keep up the great videos as I love to always share them with my friends and family:). Stay safe and god bless. #coeshowmadness

I really like how stable and smooth this thing is out of the box on stock settings. I was doing more inverted flight on it than my previous nano cpses, which was pretty sweet. I just wish the canopy stocks were a little stronger, because as soon as they break, the main board has nothing to keep it from flopping around and eventually causes servo connectors to break off, which was a lot harder to do on the cps. Either that find another place to mount the gummies because they are much better than the cps too. Both my cpses had frames cracked in mulitple places and kept going for weeks on end. This didn't last two days. Oh well, Ill buy more boards, send this one off to megas, maybe even buy another s2 or more. I just love how smooth it is.
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 5 лет назад
Dang, you must be nose diving it pretty hard. Maybe fly over grass or tall weeds. I think the canopies are made as light weight as possible to keep the heli nimble and able to fly 3d. A Fiberglass is way too heavy, and just bogs everything down. It just takes years of practice. Just keep flying.

I have tried the calibration but it still is drifting forward and to the left. And again the drift is only when stability 1 or 2 is on. How often do defects occur in the gyros? Any tips? @Phil M Go to Model set up, then go to Flight mode, then assign Switch H to Throttle Hold, hit Back, go to Main Screen, go to Throttle Curve, go to Hold, and enter -15% in all of those boxes. Now you have Hold mode when the Switch H is switched toward you. Plug in battery in Hold mode. Blades and servos will move, but there will be no throttle. Hit that Switch to kill it before you hit the ground or objects. Read your DX9 manual too. It's all in there. Never mind that -130 guy too. It's not correct.

Is there any stabilisation when inverted? I'm trying to learn inverted hovering before progressing on to more. Alternatively, does the panic button flip it back the right way up and stabilised?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 4 года назад
Oliver Polden The helicopter cannot move past a 30 degree angle in stable mode, so it won’t flip, and if you did go into stable mode while inverted, I don’t know what would happen if it had its throttle curve as a flat line and linear pitch. I will say though, using stable mode is inhibiting the helicopters flight. With stable on, you are always giving input, holding the stick forward, or backward, but when not in stable, the helicopter will stay at the last angle it was commanded, so once actually level, the heli will stay level, and when you get the heli in forward flight attitude, it stays in that attitude until you correct the attitude. So flying in stable is pretty much only good for learning orientations with the training wheels on basically.
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 4 года назад
Oliver Polden And yes, the panic button will righten the helicopter to a hover position , although altitude is required, and to me, it’s still safer and better practice to hit the hold switch and kill the rotation of the blades so it doesn’t hurt you, a person, or a thing. I’m old school, and we didn’t have any of these millennial wiz bangs when I learned to fly. The objective is to fly in an idle mode so the rpm stays constant and you have control of the entire pitch range. Even if you just want to fly in circles and go up and down. I teach, stunt 1 low headspeed, and low altitude. 10 feet or less off the ground. Hit hold switch when you get lost. It falls 5 feet, and no damage over grass. Pick it up, fly again. Panic mode, you need 30 feet or more, it doesn’t get enough time, the throttle is on. The blades are turning, and it hits cement out of control from 30 feet, it’s toast. So not to put down the feature, it’s just, there is a time and a place for it.

Just got the Nano S2 a few days ago. Compared to my old Nano CPX, the piro was way better but it is strange in 3D mode - it always tries to level no matter what. eg let it bank forward and then do piro. This is good if you just piro but funnel becomes very hard to do with unwanted compensation. Is other recent Blade heli the same, eg mcpx bl2, 150s?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 4 года назад
Well, in Normal Mode and Stunt 1 there is stability, but stunt 2 is no stability with full 3D mode. I’d check your programming in the radio. Start with a new model memory, set up the radio as per manual, and try again. The little Nano S2 flies great. All of them fly great when the program is correct. Check your flight mode assignment specifically.

Not sure why DX6e is not in the manual, but try the DX6i instructions, if that doesn't work, program a new model in radio as to DX6 instructions which has 2 stunt modes. If your radio has a 3 position switch at top left, then you have two stunt modes most likely. Don't skip steps.Program as per instructions. Sounds like you need to adjust the throttle curve to 100% in stunt 2. Make sure you have a linear 0,25,50,75,100% Pitch curve in Stunt 2 also. Make sure your channel assignment is correct. It's all in the manual. It's easy when it's right. DXe might not be capable. I am unsure.

I have the same controller as well. I read the manual too many times. Then I went to Spektrumrc.com and they have the download file for easy setup for the dx6e. In "Standard Mode" (The second mode) it flies well. Flies perfect actually. In the first mode the "Standard Z mode" I get no throttle, and no movement from sticks. Yes throttle is on. in 3d mode it just zips up the ceiling and crashes into it, but I cut throttle asap so I am okay and nothing broken. I hope this helps. Double checked the programming as well in the manual and in the controller after downloading the configuration. I also binded again and again to make sure. I'll give HH a call in the next few days to see what happens.
@RiccoStarrz
@RiccoStarrz 5 лет назад
Satyan Patel I have actually figured it out and spoken with HH! They recommend using the DX6 Configuration from the Nano S2 Manual. Also you need to Assign Throttle Hold under System SetUp then Flight Mode. You will see Throttle Hold “inh”under Flight mode, that is where you change TH to whatever you like default is your H but any 2 position switch will work, upon binding the programming does not work that is why you have everything on one switch! Once TH is assigned you will now have 3 Flight Modes on the existing 3 position switch. If you assign everything manually and follow my steps you will have all modes and a Panic button. Also go to Throttle Cut and Assign that same switch you assigned to the Throttle Hold or Throttle Hold will not work. Also make sure all the travel and throttle and expo numbers are exactly like they are in the DX6 Configuration Manual. The really tricky one is assigning the panic switch. You have to go into Mixing then assign Ger>Ger to the specified numbers and then assign “I” which is your bind button to that under Mixing, this is actually your bind and panic button. Upon completing these steps you now have Throttle Hold on its own switch and 3 Flight Modes on its own switch, mines “D” and “C” and the famous Panic Button. Happy Flying.

@@RiccoStarrz Okay I figured it out! I actually hand to called HH. All my weird programming was perfect. I do have throttle hold on reverse (I like to flip up for throttle, down for off or "0"). I also like Dual Rates and Expo on a 3 position switch to have three different versions. When I was binding I would hold rudder to the right and get a blue light. However after super close inspection a tiny red light was also on that was hard for me to see inside the canopy. The blue light being so powerful made me think I was always binding correctly every time. So with HH on the line I rebinding in the perfect manner (I was not quick enough the first few hundred times) All three modes work flawless. It is a awesome Heli and flies well.

The Instruction manual has all the information you need to know. Set the radio up as the manual says. It will fly fine. Read the manual completely front to back. Start with a new model on the radio instead of adjusting the wrong one.
@CoeShow619

Read the manual. Put those numbers in Heli mode in your radio. Do it all. Do not skip anything. The manual is easily found on line if you do not have the paper version. It will fly perfect if you follow the instructions carefully.

I just bought a nano s2 and every time I get inverted it's like my tail motor just gives up and I end up in a death yaw back to the ground, has anyone heard of this problem?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 4 года назад
Your settings are most likely wrong. Go to a new heli model set up, and start at the top of the manual for your particular transmitter and work down. Also, the latest update should be in your transmitter.

WHat's a good transmitter (budget) to get for this heli?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 4 года назад
I personally would by a Dx9 and don't worry about being cheap. If you want to get into helicopters, the 6 will be limited once you get out of beginner helis. The 9 has all the features you'll need for the future of your new hobby. Have fun. Take your time,

@@CoeShow619 I'm completely unfamiliar with the aircraft hobby. I have the DX8E and was wondering what your thoughts are on it compared to a 9 platform and what I could be missing out on.(no plans on buying an upgrade radio yet tho).
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 4 года назад
@@alb9022 The E is just a change in ergonomics. The transmitter is the same but with one less channel as long as it is updated to the latest version. The latest firmware gives you the Forward Programming function and ability to receive Smart telemetry data from Smart speed controls. You really only need 7 channels to fly a big helicopter, so the extra channels would only be used for retractable landing gear, lights, sounds, etc.

I'm new to helicopters. Would you recommend this Nano S2 or the 130?
@CoeShow619
@CoeShow619 5 лет назад
I think the 130s would be a great start. It is strong and a little bigger than the Nano, so it's a little more stable and you can see it better. Start by hovering tail in, nose out as if you were in the driver seat. Learn what the controls do first. A Real Flight 8 simulator would really help you too. Start by learning to hover on the simulator, and then transfer over to the 130s. Then learn to fly a circle on the simulator, then do it on the 130s. The 130s is totally capable of aerobatics, so you can learn how to loop and roll on the simulator, and then try it on the 130. The simulator is money well spent. I didn't have those when I started and I crashed more than you can imagine. So practice all the time, and simulate before bed and work, and it will be like riding a bike. Just have fun. Coe Show

@@CoeShow619 Thanks for the response. Would I better off with a Blade 70s instead of the 120?

I actually started on the Nano S2. I don't know much about the 130. Learning to fly it in different orientations right in my living room. I've crashed it in to walls, furniture and have not broken anything ( month 2). I can now fly little patterns around living room (I use mode 0 almost exclusively, but have started to play with mode 1).

@CoeShow619

Well, it's not a Spektrum branded transmitter and most likely does not support DSMX protocol and 11ms frame rate. Return that thing, and buy a DX6 for 50 bucks more.

CoeShow619 I have the devo f7 I believe, custom firmware so it supports dsm/dsmx but I had never heard of frame rate so now I’m going to have to look it up and see if this radio will work well with my s2. Joseph Romo You really have to read music before you can play it. 3D comes from an understanding of pitch, throttle, and timing. Videos of my thumbs moving, really doesn’t do anything. A simulator and the trainer feature would be the best bet. And fly as much as you can. Thanks, fly hard.
