In the future, a technologically advanced society with immense, towering cities dominated the Earth, but this Metal World inexplicably collapsed. As ages passed without humanity, known as “the Old Ones,” the land became rich with vegetation, wildlife, and a new dominant species--the machines.
Then, one tribe at a time, humankind returned. Machine parts became the base of the economy and local terrain and natural resources shaped the beliefs and culture of each primitive hunter-gatherer tribe-- so they don’t always see eye to eye.
The first machine hunters, the matriarchal Nora tribe, considers motherhood sacred. With no parents, Aloy is shunned by her own society at birth. Upholding Nora values, her fellow outcast guardian, Rost, discourages Aloy’s fascination with taboo Metal World technology in favor of survival and hunting skills. If Aloy wins The Proving, a ritual test of these skills, she’ll be granted the chance to ask the matriarchs about her mother… except somebody just went on a murder rampage in her village.
Now with the aid of The Focus, an earpiece that allows her glimpses into the secrets of her world, Aloy will venture beyond the protection of the Sacred Lands to uncover the mysteries behind her birth, the corruption of the machines, and the demise of the Old Ones. Have Fun!
