@@ZFCaiouseless remasters are Sony's bread and butter. Where they could bring over their classics, they always choose to remaster games already available on current hardware.
Damn you are fast. I usually underestimate "content creators" because the quality standards are so low, but you perform your job with high efficiency, that is impressive
He is really quick and it's time consuming getting all these shots in the right frame. The only thing he stopped doing was the analysis in the description but we can all work that out for ourselves.
Lighting has received massive improvement in the remaster. For example in the bridge comparison shots you can see how flat it looks in the original, with geometry underneath the bridge receiving now shadows at all.
I agree and some lighting was better but we don´t know if the light settings are the same . I like that some lighting was darker in the original but we can adjust that .
Yeah but it's not just more foliage, the lighting is significantly brighter and the foliage looks considerably less like cold climate plants which is what it was originally going for @@fenixa2z936
I mean, half of the game is just in shadows because it has a terrible lighting engine. That doesn't make it better. They just added shadows because they couldnt show detail.
@@Henrique-yn1reI have the PS4 version, was wondering if I could just freely upgrade to this version. However it's true the original looks better. This look like they just added Spring.
I am already 40% through the game. Never played it when it was released , recently bought the pc version for a very good price. Enjoying every second of it. The facial animation and and model look old compared to latest games but the environment details still better than most of the games. Amazing game.
Pretty much same boat. I started playing for the first time on Steam Deck last month and only just completed HZD. It would be amazing it Nixxes made the remaster run better and more optimized than the original port.
Look, considering this was a totally free title for everyone in 2020 with the "Play at Home" initiative, I don't think there should be such a fuss about a 9.99 update or just don't buy it and stick with the original.
I'm with you on that and I was surprised that sony let those free versions compatible with the 10$ update I thought they will lock them of from the update
I imagine this was a similar situation to TLOU1 where they needed something for their dev staff to do while the next game was in pre-production, so it's probably not taking away resources from a new game. Would have preferred a remaster of something else that isn't available on ps5, but at least it's a significant improvement, it'll be great for newcomers.
My 14yo son wants to play horizon zero dawn, he just started playing a couple of days ago. I'll tell him to wait a bit. What's 10 euros and one month, it's worth the little wait IMO
@@maxotaku1173 The PS5 has too many games, actually. Just this damn year FF Rebirth, Stellar Blade, Helldivers 2, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Astro Bot, Rise of Ronin, Silent hill 2, Until Dawn, Horizon Lego, Pacific Drive etc... 2025 already has at least 4 games announced, including Death Stranding 2. You'll need thousands of hours of free time to play everything....
"Rustic" look? Please use more descriptive language. The original just looks old and kind of bad. Worse shadows, worse geometry, less foliage, worse ambient occlusion coverage, waxy looking skin, robotic human animations/gestures, etc
@@RicochetForce Original has more depth and diversity. New version looks too cartoonish like LSD trip it's just sad to behold. It's that generic bland atmosphere fidelity like far cry new dawn when they try and copy the last of us because those fingerless devs run out of ideas.
@@RicochetForcethank you, this remaster is a big improvement from the original. People who don't see the difference haven't played the original in years and forgot what it actually looks like.
Considering the huge upgrade in graphics, I find the 10$ price tag to upgrade from the original really an honest price. They could have been greedy and sell it as a new game, they don't, and that's great!
@@Erik-lh9jh It worked REAL well for The Witcher 3. Made them nearly double total sales. As it turns out they didn't need to chrage for upgrades to sell copies. Huh. Though I suppose if they NEED the extra $10 they have much bigger concerns don't they?
@@Semitruck1 yeah fr. aside from that, something has been upgraded and it clearly shows. But mostly I hope gameplay gets an upgrade to play out more fluid like Forbidden West, if this turns out like graphical upgrade only like TLOU part 1 I’m so done. I believe in guerrilla though, they’ve shown that they can deliver when they want
Why is everyone complaining. No one has wasted resources. And yes, even though "we didn't need it" it is something great, so stop complaining and enjoy the hype and the remaster when it comes out. Let them do what they want with their resources and games, just enjoy, it's not that hard.
It's not that hard to get exploited lol. You go on ahead and buy it the rest of us will wait until they release a killzone remaster, you know something that is worthy of a remake.
@@Bred-vz2py Only a first world brat would consider this exploitation, you have not been forced to purchase this game. Those that are purchasing for the first time get a better experience. Grow-up.
Yeah, this remake pretty much pumps up ALL of the game's technical merits significantly. I can't give the original a win anywhere because its 2013 hardware roots are showing hard.
No one needs anything. We don't NEED a Bloodborne remaster, we don't NEED an Infamous remake. You can live your fucking life normally having those or not. There's not only Sony games for you to play out there, so stop the whining and go play whatever tf you want
If you dont need this just dont play it. They are not forcing you to purchase the game, so stop whining. People just like to complain about anything nowadays
I think it’s nice that they remastered the original game, even if it’s not that old. They fixed many of the issues that the original game had (like the facial animations). If y’all don’t like it, just don’t buy it. Spreading hate about the game won’t change anything.
Agreed. The remaster looks excellent. They improved so many other things as well, like the quality of lighting, water, reflections, hair, shadows, foliage, etc. This looks now like a true next gen game.
They are making new games, but they will take more time to be ready, Horizon FW only arrived in 2022, the sequel is still far away, so what they were able to do is a remaster of ZD so the game looked just as good as FW.
@@TheTom20except they do? Do you think what you're seeing here was easy? Tons of people put in hundreds of hours to make this new version, time and money that could be spent on making a new game. Guerilla could work on two games simultaneously, as do FromSoft and other studios...
@@TheTom20 except they do? Do you think what you're seeing here was easy? Tons of people put in hundreds of hours to make this new version, time and money that could be spent on making a new game.
For 10 bucks? Not bad... If you think about it, we have studios charging 100 dollars for a single skin... With this I am not saying the game needed a remaster but clearly a lot of work was put into this, hopefully optimization is way better now.
As a PlayStation gamer, I am tired of Sony re-releasing old games that we already played and selling them at full price. This console generation is a strange generation indeed. What happened to resistance, killzone, days gone 2, twisted metal, infamous and many more franchises that haven't been tapped into this generation???
I might not be the only one but I much prefer the darker tone the original has. One example would be 2:00 where Aloy and his father looks more natural on the Original compare to the shiny skin tone they have in the Remaster, his father's beard looks better in original too. But I can't argue that the mocap on the character looks much better.
Keep in mind that the remastered footage is plagued by low res and youtube compression. Many textures here look a lot better in the original, but we will see how it compares in full res.
Overall the remaster is stunning, and I will absolutely play it. I will miss certain aspects of old Aloy though, and I'm not talking about who is prettier, but rather the old model seems more expressive in certain situations. Like after the explosion in this trailer, the old model looks sad, the new one kind of doesn't. They just don't have the same energy. I kind of preferred the old Aloy, I just found her able to portray more vulnerability overall.
XD
The AAA game scene is clearly exhausted. Making a game from scratch is risky and hard, so remater, remaster. With the ridiculous price of the PS5 pro, the gaming industry should think once. Do we really need such an expensive and high spec console? Do we really need 4K textures and models with ridiculous polygon counts to make interesting games?
They change the photography of the game. I don't know why this happen in some remasters, maybe the original art director isnt's involved in the remaster, so the programmers make the way they want, and made everything "too realistic". A very clear example of that is in that final shot 8:15 the original is so much better, with the contrast of her silhouette and the fog.
Typical lazy remaster shenanigans, they remastered the game that already looked phenomenal just for the sake of remastering it... but was it really necessary? I get it when games from console generation ("X") gets a remaster on a next gen console ("X+1") but this shtick is just baffling.
I don’t think anyone’s made us denying how fantastic this looks, even with the original still holding up well. I just can’t help but think what other games we could have gotten this treatment for besides this
@@invadeandraid older doesnt mean uglier. yes women loose beauty gradually due to age but it doesnt make them outright cartoonisly ugly. they intentionally made aloy into avocado in forbidden west but thankfully with enough facepaints and lipstick and clothes you can hide her facial weirdness in the sequel. zero dawn both og and remaster aloy is still nice and graceful.
I do not hope they changed the original colors too much. That will affect the feel of the game drastically. HFW's colors are a bit too vivid and childish. Even though I like the game a lot. Still, missing the dark feel from the first game.
The most different things are definitely the facial expressions, lighting, vegetation and more elements in the models and environment, But even so, we didn't need this remaster.
The game was already very beautiful, yet another remaster that doesn't make much difference, and it's still paid. They could have made this state of play much better if other games were announced instead of remasters.
@@GuilhermeSanchez-bs4cr Same story as GOW, Ghost. It's a literal PS5 upgrade. That's all. Stop fucking whining and buy it if you want or not, Sony doesn't care it wasn't made for you. You don't NEED Bloodborne or Infamous remakes, that sounds pathetic, go play something else there's not only Sony games for you to fucking play.
Yes, because the important thing of modern game (for Sony) is the graphics, not the gameplay, story ecc.. This remastered version is like Concorde... (just to be clear, the game itself is great, but we don't really need this remaster)
@@sinnxmoon I don't have anything against the game, it is a great game, but I don't pay 70 euro for what? Better graphics? No thanks. This it is my 2 cent.
There's some strange choices here. Everything looks much greener in the remaster, but why? And why get rid of those big juicy leaves on the shrubs at 3:03? I love those leaves!
If this would’ve been a 70 dollar purchase for those who own the original it would’ve been a crime but a 10 dollar upgrade is not bad for the upgrade imo
I played the original on daytime the whole environment has an abundance of the orange color or orange hues. Sometimes it is very difficult to look at the screen because of the orange colors.
Agree and l like darker shadows and darker game general but we can fix that with the slider i play with the slider at 30 % now maybe i will have to go to 20 % to make it dark . But general for 10 bucks its ok .
Let's be honest, no one can deny that the differences are noticeable, it's a very obvious visual improvement, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is probably one of the most unnecessary remasters of all time.
They have dolled everything up to look really vibrant and saturated with a lot of contrast. It’s a whole different tone. I’m not sure how to feel about it.
I think no one really can deny that the remastered version looks better but still, why waste resources on remastering this game that is barely 10 years old?
It is 7 years old. Yes it looks better but no one needed it. Sure the better lighting, vegetation, models and facial expressions are nice but wasted resources compared to other games they could have made
@@WERV2003If you knew at least a little bit about working with 3d light, you wouldn't write this. In the Original, the main light comes from the front left of the game character and on the right as an additional one (you can see by the reflection on the cheeks of the child), whereas in the Remaster, the light falls directly behind the character and with greater intensity on the left
They basically just copy-pasted Aloy's face from Forbidden West in the remastered edition. Aside from new character animations, every else is just texture and shadow changes. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE PS5 UPGRADE VERSION, NOT A NEW GAME ENTIRELY.
They said in the trailer that the point of this Remaster is that Horizon Zero Dawn look as good as its sequel, if it looks like FD then that is the point, "They copy-pasted the models" and what do you expect it to look like?
The original didn't need a remaster in terms of graphics but damn do those robotic character animations make the experience insanely bad, it's an impressive remaster from the ground up and is appropriately titled a remaster unlike naughty dog who remastered the last of us 1 in the same way and called it a remake and charged 70$ for it with no 10$ upgrade for ps4 owners.
I mean, sure, it looks better. But this is a game that still looks pretty good and, more crucially, is available on PS5. There are games still stuck on PS3, like Guerillas own Killzone 2 and 3, or the Infamous games. They deserve this a looooot more.
A remaster that nobody asked for. We have so many older games, 2017 was 7 years ago but "technologically" still very decent, i think they should invest in a new game...
I give It to the original on the 4th and 5th comparison images. I like seeing the blue reflecting on the water and the Rust overtaking structures, It makes you wonder while playing how long has It been there rusting away and what happened to this world. Rost and baby Alloy are like toys on the remake lol skin with plastic texture but on a later image baby Alloy looks better, Young Alloy getting saved by Rost looks more realistic on the original i mean her hair and facial expressions makes more sense to me, her hair is kinda thin cause she is growing up. On the explosion scene Alloy looks so distressed about the situation like she cares about all that people, about knowing about her past but on the remake she gives a single cold stare as If she lived a 1000 years or could be behind it, a flat cold look that is unnatural to her personality. On the opening of the vault she gives a cinematic expression she either looks stressed and ready, on the remaster though she is like super excited totally indifferent to the dangers, maybe i'm reading too much on the differences. The original tries to be more realistic bringing textures and micro things like roughed up fabric, expression wrinkkles and toned muscles while the remaster is more cartoony
To be honest I feel that some shots the original looks better. I can appreciate the level of detail that some surfaces now have and the misty feel also is really nicely done. But I also feel like they sometimes just added more grass and other vegetation, just so they can show it off. The shot doesn't really look any different. It is definitely not the leap I was thinking it would get. THe original already looked amazing, so there wasn't that much to change in my eyes
Just dont get it. They leads the game, they remaster to set standard for other developers by showcasing their studio's game. What do you ask for? Want bloodborne remaster? Ask fromsoftware
It's just Sony has locked medium low settings in original version now graphics settings are increased and we have to pay again ...what's fun in doing all this just changing texture won't give a new feel
I prefer the darker, rustic looking tone of the original. I know the remastered version is superior visually, but that darker tone is lost with the brighter remaster.
