This is not effective at all. Don't ever start the fight with freeze arrow when youre just going to follow it up with fire arrow, it's pointless! The fire arrow will negates the effect of the freeze arrow! Remember, freeze is a damage multiplier so follow it up with pure damage weapon not elementals. This is why its taking you forever to kill that stormbird! If you're going to start off with freeze, follow it up with a full dps weapons like a full dmg hunter bow or blast slingshots! It's far better to use shock arrow and then fire arrow cause both causes lingering effects/damage. Hope this helps ;)
Yea! he takes forever to kill it. i take down stormbird down like this, first, tie it down to the ground. second, freeze arrow to the freeze canister. third, bomb the living sheet out of the little crow. Now conclusion, stormbird ded in 30-60 seconds, NOT MANY MINUTES LIKE THAT GUY IN THE VIDEO! thank you for reading my tutorial for killing electric bird.
This was a pretty crappy tutorial overall. Why he would choose to target the freeze canisters instead of the fire canisters on a Stormbird is beyond me. The freeze canisters are a whole lot smaller and less in number on a Stormbird. It would have made a WHOLE lot more sense to target the fire canisters if he was just trying to show an example of this kind of thing for a tutorial. Seems this guy lacks common sense.
It honestly blows my mind how some of THE worst players always get the most views here on RU-vid. It makes ZERO sense and makes me question the intelligence of most ppl...
I always mod to accentuate whats already there. If its a stealth suit i max that out. If its a fire resistance suit i max that out etc. Just swap best suits for each engagement
@@Hallo_20 true. its it's painful to watch him try to get to the stormbirds back to shoot the freeze/fire canisters. Simple solution is to tie the electrical burb down and then go to shoot the canisters.
Triple shot saves a hell of a lot of time with these sort of things. Not sure I ever saw you use it but it's amazing for applying statuses onto beasts quickly. Rather than shoot off loads of separate arrows to apply frost, for instance, you could just load the bow with three at a time and apply the frost three times as quickly. Also you shouldn't really be using elemental for damage purposes (unless, again, you're intending to apply status), so shooting a single fire arrow is just kind of... a waste of time. Especially pointless if you already HAVE a fire status on a monster, shooting it with more fire won't really do much, you've got to wait for the status to end first before reapplying. If you've got something frozen, switch to something like a hard point or sharpshot, triple load and shoot at the weakspots, you'll deal HUGE damage. Also, tear blast is your friend, easier to start off most big monster fights like this by tearblasting off their main components to disable their attacks. Unless you want a challenge ;P Personally I tend to keep to the same sort of mods on each weapon and armour and don't switch it up a huge amount, I just use them for the purpose they're there for because I'm lazy and can't be bothered to keep switching mods all the time xD. So shock resist armour will be full of shock resist mods, melee armour full of melee resist, stealth has full stealth mods. As for weapons, personally my hunter bow has straight up damage mods in all three slots as it's main use is to be triple loaded and hit targets with hardpoint arrows, I do use the fire arrows for certain enemies but usually I don't bother with the fire mods as I find most of them can be burnt within two or three triple loaded hits anyway (glints and snaps for instace). My sharpshot bow is triple tear mods, because it's main purpose is to tearblast off key things, I also use it for sniping human enemies but don't bother with dmg because a headshot for a human enemy will usually oneshot anyway (and if it doesn't, double or triple shot will). Warbow is usually freeze loaded, maybe with one shock, but freeze is the most useful for me. Blast sling is three full damage mods, because I want pure explodey. AND SO ON.
You dont deal more damage, with ice Mods. The Same with Fire. The only thing that modifies your damage Are the damage Mods. The elemental mods only speed up the apply Time.
I’m late to the party but, from my few weeks of playing, your best option is to tear components off. Blowing up blaze canisters helps too. Use the Tearblast arrows and shoot the main components off of the beast, beginning with weapons like the lightning gun, and you’ll be much better off 👌🏽
I haven't finished yet but the main storyline just keeps getting better & better. Although I can't wait to get to the ending I'm also torn because the journey has been so much fun and so interesting I don't want it to end. This would have made a great SF book. John Gonzalez did a fantastic job.
helpful tip even though this is 4 days ago, the reason you're having trouble with the frost containers on it's shoulders is because it has a protective case over it. if you noticed in the bestiary it said it's weak to "tear" meaning it has to be broken off before the frost arrows will have a effect.
I go into every battle with tearblast arrows ready. Once I'v done as much damage I can with those I switch to elemental or precision. I found, though slower, the precision arrows do considerable damage on some enemies. Deathbringer cooling vents for instance are a one shot on very-hard level.
This is the first game I've played that isn't a platformer. I am new to this genre of games and was struggling with all these new things I had to learn about. I've been able to figure some things out, but this video has helped me tremendously! I've never had to modify weapons lol so that was so confusing for me and I didn't know how to do so effectively. Everything makes so much more sense and now I understand how to succeed in the game. I've learned so much from you videos on this game. Thank you so much!
straight up damage mods on any weapon will take anything down in no time. You'll need to farm for days to get 3 51% weapon damage mods but it's so satisfying destroying a stormbird in 50 seconds.
Bro I'm level 17 and I took out a stormbird way faster than you. you gotta start with tearblast arrows to remove armor, then tripcaster. Also, upgrade your ammo capacity dude
' did some damage but not alot' 1/5 health left. 'this mod increases the damage for freeze' nope it takes less shots to activate the effect. 'Freeze it first then use fire arrows' that just doesn't work. To kill a storm Bird, you tear blast the shock cannon and shock canister covers off, then ropecast it for easy damage.
I know I'm not the only person saying "you should have done it this way" but it can be so much easier. His center component is the easiest spot to hit on him and removes all of his electrical attacks build melee damage weaves and remove that component first then proceed. Also personally, hitting canisters on such a mobile target is too much of a gamble so I a more direct approach to dealing damage
Rope caster, tear gun, and high damage arrows will be far more effective. When in the air I use tear arrows to take out the jets and lightning gun to bring the fight to the ground more frequently.
I always use the potions. Especially if another machine comes in with a different element. I wear melee armor against melee machines and opponents, and range armor against range machines and opponents. If they do both, I take away their range attacks if I can. Gosh I love this game. You can do so many things! :)
You say the stormbird’s strength is shock and then you say you counter it with shock. That’s not how it works my friend. If it was weak against shock then you would use it.
I farmed the scraper pit farm to make a 120 corruption suit, and 100+ silence suit (btw u can walk right past a thunder jaws face with that much silence) and a dedicated 250 tear bow and a dmg bow n a fire bow
stormbird and thunderjaw have 100% drop rate of three purple (very rare) modifications, best way to farm mods, i'd say damage mods are most valuable, use them on your blast sling and shadow tripcaster, with blast tripwire you can deal more than 500 damage in 1 hit when you have 3 purple damage mods on tripcaster which is kinda op, you can kill most of the machines instantly with it by placing multiple wires at the same place
All freeze mods do is make the time it takes to freeze quicker, once the enemy is frozen, you do much more damage, and freeze arrows do little to no damage. If you would have froze the bird, then spammed a damage dealing arrow at him like the hard point arrow, it would have been dead within a minute.
Yea that tinker skill is also great to use to cash in for money (shards) on mods you've improved and don't use or need anymore. You end up even selling purple mods for some good bucks (shards). I set a purple standard where any weapon mod below 40% gets sold.
Built in specific armors for situations and enemy types. I have a shock armor that almost lets me walk through the stormbirds electricity field without taking any more than five percent of my health. I also have a corrupted armor etc.Been grinding it out and opening the map. Going to knock out the cauldrons and get my ruins cleared for power cores next. I very close to being level 50 without hardly touching the story. I look forward to finishing this stellar game as well as any additional content that may appear, even if its in the form the second game!
If you want to shoot the fire glass with an fire arrow it doesn't matter how much fire dmg your bow does, it's one shot all the time with however much fire dmg
I would just throw on the Oseram Sparkworker equipped with anti-shock mods. For the elements I just use the outfit made for it, because they already have defense set up against their respective elements, and adding the mods to protect against them adds even more to that elemental defense. So.... Carjon Blazon with anti-fire mods, Banuk Ice Hunter with anti-freeze mods, and Banuk Sickness Eater with anti-Corruption mods. Then ofc non elementals, Nora Protector with anti-melee mods and Oseram Arrow Breaker with anti-range mods. Like, I'm pretty sure everyone equipped their Nora Stealth Hunter with stealth mods. But this video is old-ish. So yeah. XD
Christian B Even then, i play on very hard. Best strategy for everything is have a slingshot with freeze and handling coins. Freeze enemies. Use hardpoint arrows and put handling and damage on your bow. freeze it kill it in seconds
What I do is boost the armors basic resistance then use the correct version for the damage type expected. I keep all the higher level mods that have multiple boosts for the elemental armors. Basically the same idea with weapons. You can easily OP a weapons instead spread the damage types to allow wider arrow selections. - Or, just jack up "handling" on those slow ones. p.s. I always hit with Tearblast arrows first to take out their "worst-case" attacks. It also does some damage though not a lot.
+Cor Verdoes Same here, it's super easy that way and deals tons of damage. Freeze works on almost all enemies anyway, except for deathbringers I believe. Just slap frost modifications on your war bow, freeze the enemy, and then switch bow and shoot multiple arrows at once. Even the biggest enemies fall pretty quickly like that..
mods don't really matter till the end game or NG+ anyway so I really wouldn't waste skill points getting the tinker skill early. there isn't much point in saving green or blue mods anyway so destroying them isn't a big deal. Early/mid game is more about patience and strategy and hitting weak spots. Normal difficulty is still pretty easy. The key to this game is just practice practice practice. I was initially intimidated AF fighting the bigger machines at first. But you just go off and explore. don't worry about the main quest line till you're ready. So just go off and do sidequests and errands, go get your collectible items and just fight machines till you figure it out. Once you get over the intimidation factor of the larger machines, everything else falls into place. The only mods I think are important are the stealth mods you can add to the Silent Hunter armor. high stealth lets you get real close to machines before they get alerted. The Shield Weaver is cool and all and great for situations where you know you can't avoid combat, but stealth = win
Quick question. Does the resistance stat on the armour mean that you resist that percentage of damage from that type of attack or is it more complicated than that? For example in this video he (i think) has 98 shock resist after mods. So does that mean he resist 98% of shock damage or is it more complicated than that? Also if it is just the number = the percentage of damage ignored is there any point ever going over 100 resistance for any resistance type (I.e. melee, ranged, shock, fire ect.)
I haven't gotten the Tinker ability yet. Instead, I have several of thesame type of weapon, but I focus mods on each one. So I have a super freeze now, super electric bow and a super corruption bow, etc. Seems to work out okay for me.
Stop pissing about with swapping trying to hit the machine in certain places select one weapon with the best MOD possible, then get him to the floor, hold him down with your bow caster. You should also kill the chargers first as they are easier to deal with! I’m also about level 43 (so not far behind lvl 50) I have everything possible to the max and now just trying to find the last few materials to upgrade a few my pouches! It’s about strategy - I’m going more stealth as I find this uses less materials to craft ammunition, and the pleasure of sneaking up on a machine without being spotted is great. I may also sneak around machines because there maybe too many of one large machine to kill at the I’m at! Made it look way more complicated Positive criticism, go back a bit in training! Hey
quick question: how did you get that armor? i have every purple armor now except for the shield weaver, but cant find this one at any of the traders 😕... a real shame because i think it's one of the coolest looking armors in the game besides the carja fire resistant armor
Hey man, great info, thank you! I have a personal question if I may? Which region are you from? Your accent sounds possibly southeastern European? Just curious.
loving the game and have enjoyed your videos a fairbit! The one thing from your video that bothered me a bit is that all your evasive rolls are in the same direction.. For so many machines if your roll once/twice in one direction while it charges its attack then roll again in the opposite direction you dodge all damage very easily! Still only level 30 and have been taking my time with the main quest but dreading the imminent end of the game :(
the game kinda never ends though :) sure the main story ends but you can still free roam do side quests unlock everything that kind of thing :). ive finished the main story im just unlocking everything now and doing side quests, just got the ancient armour :D.
hey raptor not sure if you ran into one yet but I recently got a 50% percent fire damage mod not sure how high these go but it seems they get pretty high
Always add mods that boost the weapon arrows. Boosting fire damage on a weapon that does not shoot fire arrows does not add fire damage to that bow type. This is most important when selecting mods that have multiple boosts if you want all boosts to count . This is NOT true with armor. Weapons add the percentages together then multiply them to the base for the damage amount applied before creature resistances are calculated. i.e Base = 25 (boost 1=50%, boost 2=50%, boost 3=50% === Total boost = 150% +100% base (or 250%) === damage = 25 times 250% (or 2.5) = 62 Armor adds them together i.e. 0% fire resistance base with a 15% fire mod = 15% fire resistance. Add a 10% fire mod = 25% fire resistance.
You really don't need to add handling mods to war bows its just a waste of mods. Just put 3 of the same element coils, it already has a good amount of handling%. You can insta freeze/shock with just 3 arrows almost all mobs except stormbirds and thunderjaws. If you get lucky, you can get purple mods with 3 affixes but its very rare, ive only gotten like 4-5 of them :(
skateinspace I think he doesn't use shock potion because he wants a extra challenge, too easy if he uses it? Dunno other wise I always use em plus can kill a Stormbird way quicker 😂
I just fuck with the Storm bird. Hit it with my tear blaster which knocks off his parts in 1-2 hits that way he has little to protect itself and an advantage for me. Fighting a thunder jaw has to be the best one because you knock off its weapons and use it against it
Stalkers are actually pretty easy to fight, they have the same weak spots as scrapper's! Once you get the "hard point" arrows, you can kill them in 2 shots but with the 3 arrows skill and good damage mods. Or once you see those red beacon lights on ground, get yo ass outta there cuz its stalker territory lol
TryHardYT just buy all the purple weapons. You'll need them all anyway. If you're doing the hunter trials then don't buy the purple war bow, purple ropecaster, and purple blast sling because you'll get hunter lodge version of those weapons which are better
TryHardYT shield weaver is the best you need to find all 5 power cells to get it tho. And just get as much of the purple armor as you can cause they each have their own unique buffs so you'll be switching outfits for different situations
dude, the fight was so poor. in the beginning i was thinking "aight this guy probably knows some shit" but after a few seconds of fight you couldnt even dodge properly and did ZERO damage. you can freeze that guy immediatly and just shoot the shit out of the stormbird or one-hit it using blast-wire traps and ropecaster. I mean i appreciate it if you decide to take it down in the mor traditional way, but maaan - watching you fight was real pain
Kill Thunderjaws. 1st Shoot his disc launchers of his back. 2. Pick up disc launchers and kill him with his own disc launchers. 3. When killed they drop 3 purple mods. 4. Return to firecamp quicksave and restart from last save (this will respawn the Thunderjaw. 5. Repeat. Tip! Try to save atleast one disc in ammo, take your disc launcher to firecamp, restart from save. This will get you full ammo on the disc launcher. So you have almost 3 disc launchers per run.
This game just came on PC, i love it so much but i cant stand the bug/error about not having any slow motion effects work right now. i hope they patch this soon with some sort of fix. Id rather not start a new game then have this happen again, not worth it.
ok just wanted to make sure haha, cause instead of 4 rounds for your sling you can have 12, and have a 30 slot quiver for your warbow, 60 slot for your hunter bow, etc etc. really cuts down on having to craft mid fight so often :D
that fight setup was all wrong, first you should use the shock outfit, has a boost start at 50 then add shock mods you should get around 115 protection, use potions for shock, extra defensive buff, war bow is too slow, use fire arrows, first hit use 3 arrow shot burns his health a lot
I am highly upset with this. I only needed 2 more skills for all of them and level 48, with shield weaver, and my ps4 initialized -,- had to go get a ps4 pro. Mine was a 1st gen ps4 and the 3rd initialization, it was time for the upgrade. But still this video has triggered my anger for the loss of my save data. ;-;
What I like to know about weapon coils is why does one say it gives you + 29% more damage and then only gives you + 7% more damage how does that work did the developers really fuck that bad
dude you cant get better than a warbow, the handling is better and way more range i have videos on my channel with some Warbow action if you have the time thx.
Topp Notch Che key out the video (good video btw) and you basically confirmed my point by using freeze arrows to make the blunderbird vulnerable and used the hunter bow to kill it
Topp Notch Thanks man, checked out your channel, so now i use the warbow and the blast sling not the elemental sling. warbow is much better due to range and using triple shot
Dear god, after watching the rest of this video. It's getting a downvote. Do not follow this guy's advice. If you've frozen a machine, don't switch to another effect like fire, it doesn't add anything, it just replaces the effect. Freezing an enemy makes them more susceptible to impact damage so after freezing, switch to a high damage weapon and shoot shoot shoot till the freeze effect wears off. Stormbirds are not that difficult. Get its attention, when it gets in range, use a ropecaster to tie it up. Then apply an elemental effect, preferably freeze, then switch to damage arrows or bombs and shoot shoot shoot. once the stormbird breaks free, just tie him down again. The tie-down effect does not interfere with elemental effects. I tend to shoot off the shock weapon on the bird's chest first so that it can't use that against you. But it generally doesn't matter once you get it tied up so use your favorite strategy at that point. You can easily take a stormbird down and take no damage unlike this guy.
not when you use to play games with fps unlock g-sync 165hz - i think they should have come with options for people who want to play the fake ps4 4k and people who likes smooth framerate
The result of your Stormbird fight was kind of your own fault. Why you chose to target it's freeze canisters is beyond me. They are much smaller and MUCH harder to hit than the various, much larger Fire canisters all over it's body, so why you didn't choose to target the fire chanisters when showing this off in a tutorial is beyond me. Seems like a very unwise and illogical choice.
