This is SO helpful! We are currently using TGTB and I’ve noticed that my daughter needs a little more mastery on some of the lessons being taught before they come back around. I’ve been thinking about using Saxon but then heard that people actually recommend doing horizons until 4th grade and then switching to Saxon. I’m glad you showed how the lessons work because based on some other videos it looked like just a book of worksheets. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing the Horizons math. We will be doing master books math this coming year but if it doesn’t work for us then I will definitely try the Horizons math.
I am doing the research to see if what would be best for my first grader horizons or Bju press. Thanks for the flip through and also explanation of the teacher guide
Thank you so much for doing a review with the Teachers Guide! I have seen so many reviews where they say they just use the workbooks... I need to know HOW to teach, lol.
Did you have a video of switching for MB math to horizons? We do MB for all languages right now and it’s now working. Was looking at switching my son to all about reading to get a better foundation, but can’t decide on the math.
I don’t have a video on it but we did switch from MB to this. Horizons is ahead of master books but I love it SO much. It’s still gentle but gives more practice for kids who need it. It still has the colorful pages and shorter lessons so I felt like it had the best of both worlds.
Thank you for this informative video! Our kid never went to school before, not even preschool, so is there something he needs to learn before diving into this set?
They offer placement tests on their website that will help you to pick the best level. I would think you want to start with pre-K or Kindergarten assuming that fits your child’s age and needs but the website should be able to help you find the perfect level.
If you stick with this curriculum, what would you do after grade 6-8? My kids love this math, but I'm nor sure what to do after this to make sure they don't miss anything
Honestly I don’t know. Most of my kids transition to teaching text books after BUT for my daughter I don’t know what we will do. I know Saxon has a solid math program for highschool that might be a good transition
They say a lesson can take 30-45 min but not all of that is done with the teacher so I would say it takes about 20min of my time and 10-15 extra min for her but it very much depends on the lesson and how easy or hard it is.
It bullet points exactly what to do and how to explain it BUT it’s not like some curriculums where it has the bolder text where you just read it as written. That being said it’s very easy to teach straight out of the teacher book.
We started it with my special needs daughter at age 9. As far as Singapore I don’t have any direct experience with the program but both are well accredited. I don’t know that one is better I think it just depends on which is the right fit for your child.
Just found your channel and are loving it ideas and resources. Do you have any suggestions for someone starting homeschooling and need to teach my 8year old how to read who struggles with blending and gets VERY FUSTRATED
My daughter is 7 (almost 8) we tried everything out there to get her to read. All about reading is a great program but it’s not for all children. My daughter absolutely hated it. It moves fairly quickly, and each lesson has a fluency sheet which Means there are about 50 if not more words, sentences they need to try to read. My daughter hated that and got so frustrated. We finally found happy cheetah and she is finally reading!! I highly recommend it. Whatever you end up using I hope you find something that works for your kiddo 😊
@@dominique573n9 thank you for sharing. I have never heard of that program but I'ma look into it. I have been debating about the Moffat girls and I love her content and I'ma go with that program and see how it goes.
@@Nakiyo11 I have alot of videos on Happy Cheetah as well and I even have one that compares both ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JKe7O6ifvhM.html
