The book provides clear illustrations ru-vid.comUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO diagrams that cover many of the essential topics. The projects at the end of the book are valuable for enhancing your skills and creating your own furniture. A digital platform linked to the book that could offer the plans for other woodworking projects with the cut sheets would have been a nice addition, but overall, the book is excellent.

2:52 Pro tip -- put half of the water in the mixer before adding the first bag 👍 7:55 While filling the screw holes is a nice touch, having them, particularly on a fence, is totally fine (imho) and it allows you to easily replace the trim boards in 5 or 10 years. One way to to make them prettier is to drill a pilot hole, countersink and stain before setting the screws. You could do this as part of the original prep (cut to length, stain). That said, very nice!

Awesome job! One thing that maybe others have mentioned about the lights. Always leave the bottom of anything with sealant open so if water were to find its way behind the lights it could easily drain out the bottom. Probably not a huge deal in your case but something to keep in mind.

The fence looks awesome and does go with your house well. My personal preference when hanging lights like that on a post or wall is to caulk only the top and two sides. That way, if water does manage to get behind the light somehow, it can run out the uncaulked bottom. Credit goes to This Old House for that method.

It's already done, but... and DAMHIK! 1. when you spray, place a "layer" of boards on the ground, then a sticker laid perpendicular, then the boards you want to color. Then any overspray goes onto boards you can use later. Better yet (though I realize this is a sponsored vid so you want to highlight your sponsor's tools) use a roller to apply stain. It will be faster, waste far less and you won't need a respirator. 2. Predrill screw holes in the post a little smaller than the root diameter of the screws first. It'll be much easier on your tool, your arm, and though slightly slower overall, you won't lose screws if/when they run into a knot in the post, and the screw head strips. I hate stripped screws, there's nothing to do but reverse the drill, take 'em out and waste them. 3. Sure doesn't look like you get much if any rain there, but paying attention to waterproofing, ESPECIALLY ON EXPOSED END GRAIN, and where the post meets the ground, are good ideas. 4. You don't mention the gap distance between horizontal members. Looks like .... ummm.... one inch? IDK 5. 2x6 or 2x8 is expensive and likely unnecessary for the horizontal members. 1x lumber would do the job with posts 8' o/c. Looks like tools are all battery powered (?) so what is pneumatic? Suspect I know the answer but can you confirm?

Great job. Wish you had provided a material cost breakdown, there's a lot of material in this build and you saved so much money doing it yourself. My motto, if I can physically do, try it and if I fail then call in the experts. I wish you had also provided how long each step took like digging your holes, cementing the post, attaching the rails, etc. Gives the clueless and Idea of who to schedule their time. In my youth I would schedule 1 day for an activity, now at 60 I schedule 2 to 3 days.

The word expert seems to be subjective these days. There's a lot of slop-artists out there claiming to be experts, but aren't. I tend to do most things myself because I just don't trust people to do the job right anymore. Some contractors show up, and look like they don't even want to be there, and they tend to treat your home like "just another job". Before ever putting a hammer to nails people should respect the clients' homes, and put that respect, and care into the projects. If it's one thing I can't stand it's cutting corners. Do the job right the first time, and you'll never get call-backs.

When mounting something like the solar light where you do not want to trap water - it's better to leave the bottom open / unsealed. This allows any water that may get trapped unexpectedly to escape. Very nice fence!

This video brings back so many memories. Whenever my Dad embarked on a project he would always recruit his sons (me included) to help. We didn't have a cement mixer, so he would get me to mix the cement in a wheelbarrow with concrete, water and sand. I got pretty good at it for a grade school kid. I remember getting it to a consistency like butter which made it easy for my Dad to build walls, our fireplace, brick garden enclosures, etc. I loved helping my Dad make our house more beautiful. Great video, thanks!

Nice job but like to see into future endeavors even pressure-treated or untreated if you would use tar or maybe or even flex seal product if you would spray or put the tar to the exposed wood under the cement your fence post would last 50 times to 75% longer I just say that because I've learned from families on farms to put up a lot of post 👍👍👍
