On a brighter note about weight gain... Being forewarned about this risk, i decides to go to Mexico for the winter,right after my RT was completed. The change was amazing as i didn't eat when bored, and I walked several miles every day. My weight dropped gradually from 210 lbs to 170 which actually worried me that something was wrong...BEST HEALTHY WINTER EVER. NO CANADIAN extreme cold, and incredibly frugal. And, I got my PSA and T checked every month without needing a doctor's requisition and cost less than 10 dollars Cdn per test. PSA dropped from 0.6 right after RT to 0.006 in four months. My T remains well below castrate level over 3 months after my first and only 6 month ELIGARD injection expired. Considering my continued low T and the horrific side effects, I have refused further ADT. I ask if going on Bicaludamide pills instead of more leuoprolide injections would be a reasonable compromise??? I realize it is not quite as effective but not nearly as destructive to my quality of life. My doctor hasn't given any consideration into my concerns, and only wants to coerce her treatment on me. It feels like Concentration Camp medicine, not patient centered care.

Bingo! I’m on hormone therapy & my doctors are scratching their heads over why. My GP even put me on folic acid. I sat and looked at the numbers & said to myself, hey, I’m on hormone therapy & my numbers are closer to women’s number range, that has to be it! Will definitely tell my doctors this (although, like every other question or discovery I’ve made on my own, they just shrug their shoulders).

My primary care physician prescribed Gabapentin and my hot flashes dissipated by 90%. And I sleep through the night uninterrupted.

...I am shortly to start radiotherapy for prostrate cancer..I have declined hormone therapy.. I work out out the Gym 5 days a week..cardio weights and stretching.. my question is this.. given weight training ( I use heavy for my age..78 ) promotes testosterone.. which prostate cancer feeds off.. should I back off ?

Okay - exercise. I already do the 30-minute cardio every morning, and that doesn't prevent the deep fatigue from setting in about halfway through the day. So, I bought a nice kit of resistance bands. I know there are tons of videos and advice about how to use them, but what I want to know is - What's an effective weekly resistance band workout look like for a 58-year-old guy who primarily wants to counter the effects of the Orgovyx (and Flomax, too)? Not looking to get ripped/swole/whatever. I just want my energy back. Thanks for any advice.

It says, "¡Vamos Azul!" which is a dual allusion to his Michigan University and blue being a symbol for prostate cancer.

What about increase breast size?

I’m cancer free, but in hindsight I wish I had surgery. I have enlarged breasts, gained a lot of weight and suffered from depression. ADT is awful!
@snozcocram
@snozcocram Год назад
@@toddginder5236 you should know that removing the prostate dose not mean why don’t need ADT. And, you’re right it is depressing. The hit on my motivation is the real anchor. I started out strong like any other workout after radiation symptoms mellowed but just dragged on where now just hate the lack-luster results. All pain no gain.
@robwells230
@robwells230 Год назад
Maybe you are saving our lives with Lupron but you may actually be destroying our quality of life to such an extent that the extra yours of hellish side effects may not be worth it. The decision to add ADT should be made by the patient ONLY after being fully informed of BOTH the realistic benefit and the possibility of horrific side effects. That is the basis of INFORMED CONSENT.
@bobwright3438
@bobwright3438 Год назад
Rob, we all have been warned "Exercise, Exercise and more" I am on ADT and the side affects are very minor now if any. But I workout 2 hours a day to achieve such results.
@robwells230
@robwells230 Год назад
@@bobwright3438 you may be one of the lucky few.. A lot of men say they would rather be dead than suffer the effects of Leuoprolide. I refuse to take any more of that toxin without being fully informed about the overall survival benefit and being warned about ALL the horrific side effects and the risk of permanent CASTRATION.
