..that was a very good video Rick. I have a 2010 cobalt that not only is the horn none functional, but my two buttons for the DIC DO NOT WORK! All I see below the tach, is the Trip A kilometers. Can you help?
@@FixiT-Rick Rick, on the left side of the steering, the two DIC buttons, one for scrolling through odometer, trip counter A & B, % of oil , etc,..and one button for reset of the above.
my buttons work but the horn does not and my airbag light is on. From my research it seems to be the clock spring but do you think this is an accurate assessment?
I have a 2011 impala and I replaced rack and pinion. I was having problems getting the shaft of rack connected to wheel column so I didn't lock the wheel. Wrong move I guess cause when I started bleeding the system the air bag light came on. I'm figuring the clock spring is the issue. when you replaced yours, you put a mark next to the bolt inside wheel so everything is lined up when reassembling. My question is if my steering wheel wasn't lined up when I assembled everything, if I have to replace clockspring, do i have to find that original spot, or by installing a new clock spring does it just, lets say, "reset" itself? I hope that makes scents. Thank you for video too it's very easy to follow. If I didn't do what I did, I probably wouldn't have a question.
If you turn the clock spring gently until it comes to a stop, turn it the opposite way and count how many full rotations until it stops again. Divide the number of rotations in half and you will be able to put the clock spring back in its original place.
@@FixiT-Rick Thanks, I had an issue with my '17 Latitude when I had disconnected the battery, had to have the dealership reset 'something' , but yeah, great tip.
Your clock spring is basically a ribbon shaped cable that touches your steering wheel and your horn that makes noise. If the cable is torn or broken, your horn looses power.
Hello I came across the same issue with my Chevrolet Malibu 2012 none of my buttons work on my steering wheel so my cruise control don’t work my volume buttons don’t work and my horn don’t work is the clockspring the problem?
When your car senses a crash has occurred, it sends an electrical signal through those small connectors igniting the airbag. So there shouldn't be any power there if you touch them. But check your fuse box first. That's your safest bet. If you're still unsure, have a professional look at it.
