In this session I'm featuring Hornby-Dublo locomotives and rolling stock, unlike previous running sessions where H.D. has been featured alongside their successors in the Wrenn range. I've been fortunate to recently acquire some of the train sets where the contents have been in remarkably good to excellent condition even if the boxes have left something to be desired!
As is my want with these treasures I have undertaken some judicious cleaning and tidying up. The 'Coronation' has been cleaned and the brightwork polished up. The cylinders were very 'rough' and tired looking as well as chipped paintwork. I have smoothed down the cylinders to the bare metal and re-applied the maroon black and silver paintwork and applied new black and yellow lining. The tender chassis has been repainted and now looks much smarter. The 8F and 'Castle' were all in excellent condition, clean and tidy. In all cases I have repainted the buffer beams and buffers as these always looked like an after thought by H.D. and Wrenn. Coaches were well nigh perfect, no marks, scuffs, deterioration or frosting. Hornby Dublo holds a special place for many in this hobby and justifiably so and I hope you all enjoy this session.
