Fantastic - very good motor control and good sound, helped by the speaker upgrade. Probably just as good as the "full price" decoders that have dominated the market for years, and therefore prices have been held high. Hornby deserve to do very well with these. And thank you for showing them to us every step of the way. Your videos are very useful. Cheers. Vivian

So much better than tts sound mate.More clarity and definition. Great running session.👍

Thanks Peter. I'm not 100% sure about the actual sound file but there's no doubt the Megabass speaker makes a difference and boy is it loud when running at full volume - I thought I'd get kicked out of the house filming!

Enjoyed your run pasts. The layout looks impressive. What size is it? I have a number of Class 67s without sound and have an order in for the 8 pin HM7000. Did you use the Class 66 sound profile?
@EuviRail
@EuviRail Год назад
Thanks. The layout is actually more modest than it looks. It's just 8' x 4' today though a longer term attic based layout is on the horizon in the next couple of years. Yes, I used the Class 66 profile here as a holding pattern until Hornby publish a dedicated Class 67 profile.

@@EuviRail Surprised to hear it is only 8x4. Your hard work gives the impression of a larger layout. Would you be willing to share as I now want to build a OO layout having accumulated of three hundred locos? I don’t have many coaches and only about sixty wagons. Y

@@ScottishNSRailFan Yes, I do my best to make the best of it and that would the theme of the video I'm looking to do on this. I've had a number of previous requests. There are definitely some learnings to share. I probably have my videos for the coming month laid out but I'll be prioritising this after that. I just need to do this video now.

Very cool. Was it all easy to install?
@EuviRail
@EuviRail Год назад
No different to a TTS decoder on this loco which is a pretty straightforward install. Rather than attempt to solder the speaker wire onto the small pads on the decoder, I took the connecting cable off the provided sugarcube and soldered that to the wire from the Megabass speaker. I needed to use the smaller size Megabass as the large one won't fit in the enclosure in the base of the loco. Had purchased this from Roads & Rails a few months ago.

@@EuviRail Awesome. What DCC controller did you previously have and why did you remove it from the layout control? (I noticed you ran the track using DC) Could you please do a video review of the HM7040 when it is released as I would like to see how the dongle works. You are the very guy who has the potential to tease out all it's likely issues!!!... Thanks!
@EuviRail

@@wapphigh5250 I use the Hornby eLink and Railmaster software for my DCC control. It's creaking a bit but it's served me well. I've focused on DC for the TXS testing given the concerns over DC operation. I run the locos hard during the running sessions, only a fraction of which is captured on the video. I think I can safely say that the Bachmann DC controller I've been using does not have the problems seen with other controllers. I'm going to do a quick video on PWM given that seems to be causing the problems for the TXS decoders. Unfortunately the HM7040 won't work with my setup so I won't be in a position to tease that one out. You really would need quite a diverse set of kit to fully test these decoders in different environments. I'd like to see the professionals (e.g. Hornby Magazine) doing this kind of testing.....

I wonder how you got the sound profile for the class 67 as it’s not in the app
@EuviRail

Hi, I'm using the Class 66 profile here which isn't too far off as the two locos share the same prime mover.

What rating of speaker did you use please? 4ohm or 8ohm?
@EuviRail
@EuviRail Год назад
Hi, it's an 8ohm which is what I generally use to give me flexibility across decoders.
