Wow, you kept your cool so well through this. You were so positive even with the poor pops, let alone the fake stickers and the counterfeit pops….omg, I guess the good thing is you don’t pay up front. 😊👍
That fool probably sees all the boxes stacked in your videos and figured you’d pay him and wouldn’t get to his boxes for a while. He was sadly mistaken.
I know it’s a definite gut punch, but I’m glad you shared the video. People need to see the crap people try to pull. The worst part is your time is lost. People don’t think about their time that much, but running a business every hour lost hurts quite a bit. Best of luck with things, happy hunting.
I spent almost 8 hours going through this collection one at a time, looking for authenticity, documenting any damage or issues. In the end, I will make zero on this collection because I am sending it back. The only money I will make from this collection is the ad revenue from this video.
I'm not a Pop collector, but a simular thing happened to me years ago. - I collect books, scifi, horror and other genres. A friend of a friend had a huge collection of early (1950's) onwards and wanted to sell as they were moving home. So I asked for a list of titles and condition etc. Got a list of 1800 or so,sounding good and we arranged a meet to look at them all. - Took a day off work, and travelled for around three hours, with another friend giving me a ride in a large van. Every single book had water damage or was otherwise "well used",in the condition you would see selling cheap in charity shop bargain bins.Every single one, looked like they had been left in a damp storage room for a long time. - Some would have been extremely valuable if the condition was better. - I lost a days pay,the cost of the travel and the time taken to arrange a friend with a van,who I also had to pay for their time.....it sucked !
i dont blame you at all for not keeping it.... people need to take care of their collections and if they are going to sell it, be up front and honest about condition, etc.
I know this is an older video, but it's possible the person who sold it, purchased the pops already modified and had no idea. It's also possible he eventually figured out he got screwed and wanted to try to get out from under what he was in (which of course is not honest and wrong). Or, he just tried to pull one over on someone he shouldn't have, since Clint knows Pops.
I'm sorry this happened. When I saw the title I was like what could possible go wrong? I see it and that the light even reflect on the damaged boxes. You was excited to show this collection and you felt really bad. Glad you sent it back. Thanks for sharing.
I have had my fair share of damaged & fake goods sent to me over the years. #prime accepts nothing but the best. Maybe ask the people who want to sell you their collections to provide high resolution photos of the most valuble pops so you can get a gauge on box damage. I think if you had of seen pictures of those swapped stickers & crunchage on most boxes you would of declined from ever buying this terrible collection & wasting 8 hrs of your precious time. Chin up Funko bad guy. Tomorrow is another day. Cheers from Sydney Australia.
Good thing you did not pay first. You might have been able to sell the commons but they are hard to sell because the shipping cost might be near the cost of the pop. I think it was a good idea to you to film it for your own protection as we could see you pulling them out of the box and protectors to see the damage as proof.
Wow did they think you wouldn't notice. LOL they are sadly mistaken . Love your videos and I don't even collect pops . I've been watching you and the wife for about 3 years now . Better luck next time Clint !
I'm out of my league here, and being 65 plz don't hate but why are people paying hundreds of dollars for $3.00 of plastic and paper ? And yes, I bought a pet rock back in the day but the $ here. Wow. Sorry you got ripped off.
OUCH! I watched in complete horror as a collector… this is frustrating and there’s lots of people that think it’s cute/funny to pull a quick one over somebody😢 It’s rough collecting but very enjoyable
Also with all that damage...it is not even close to $3500 IMO. They will be very hard sales, and the damage and fake stickers make them almost worthless. Probably looking at $800-1000
JJL stickers for con pops are usually all the same so if that’s off it’s definitely a box swap, and that sticker for sure 100% box swap. I got scammed with a green lantern chase someone PAINTED, luckily I got my money back
Do you not ask for photos from the seller. I get it’s impossible to send pics of every pop in the collection but I would at least ask for pics of the most expensive ones.
Pics can hide a lot of damage depending on the camera, lighting and angle. I as the buyer need ALL sellers to be upfront about their collections and be honest about any damage or possible counterfeits.
That's a bummer this ended up a crap collection. Always get loads of pics before buying a collection. I sold part of my PoP collection last year for $2,500 and ended up sending the buyer around 60+ images. Any legit seller will happily send lots of pics.

I am bailing out of the Pop game and have a collection of maybe 20-30 pops (95% are office pops). Is it better to sell them as a lot or 1x1? I have never shipped a funko pop and it terrifies me. I don't have individual protectors for each one, just the convention and chase ones.
To be fair Funko haven’t gone for the robust packaging with flimsy cardboard and a large section having a transparent plastic window. To get a mint one is a bonus
Its so sad to see those "grails" damaged! I have a 210 piece pop collection worth $5000ppg but they are ALL in mint to near mint condition. Thats just a sad collection!
Can you make a video about fake pops and how to spot them? :) For a newbie like me, and as a person who has to buy online for 90% of my pops, I get nervous about fakes. And damaged pops. :( Thank fully I have been lucky so far. I live in a very rural area with nowhere close that sells pops.
Man, sounds like a major misrepresentation of the quality of their pops! Curious as to what info you request when making a purchase to help avoid dissapointment and unnessasary shipping costs? I don't think i'd risk shipping in bulk, or allow a buyer to update my collections' worth post purchase.
In the intro you mentioned having cards ripped. I realize that you don't mean literally ripped in half. What does it mean to have packs and boxes ripped for you
For a $5k collection....thats some pretty piss poor packaging. I would have definitely put the pops in smaller boxes inside of the bigger box. Even common pop damage adds up!
you should more ask why they would not find so one new to collecting to sell it to. there is no way Clint would not see and know straight away there was some thing not right but this is the second time he has had a collection that was as it should be.
Great vid! Out of curiosity what were the two counterfeit? And which was for sure and which was questionable? Also any big tips on spotting counterfeit pops? I purchased an Indiana Jones pop the Disney parks one of him with the machete and I know the pop is legit the box is just a little questionable it felt kind of rough if that makes sense do you know if that’s how the boxes used to be cause I know you go through lots of older pops. Love both your channels hope you have a great day! :)
One fake was from the 3rd box that was not shown in the video but it was the GITD Batman and was 100% counterfeit pop and box. The Metallic Merida has a questionable authenticity because IT IS a box swap with the common version, questionable SDCC sticker and the paint job on the pop is horrible so it might be all around altered/counterfeit.
Several people who have watched this video already know who this guy is because he has been trying to sell this collection all around texas and in facebook group for the 3 months now. Nobody wants to buy it.
It amazes me that people would try to pass these collections off to you as good. They know you are going to open them on this channel. I would be embarrassed to send you or anyone a collection like this!!
I found out that this individual also tried to pass off the collection to a friend of mine around 3 months ago and he also refused the purchase once he saw it in hand.
Still amazed that someone would look at that collection and say, yeah, I will send this to Clint. He obviously doesn’t know a lot about Pops and he will just send me the money!!! Thanks again for shedding the light on the “dangers “ of buying collections.
@@BigKidsSmallToys I guess this seller thought I must be a dumbass or something and my 25+ years of experience reselling collectibles must not mean I know what I'm doing? He was probably just banking on me accepting what he sent and then me sending over the money afterwards. I'm not in the business of losing money and it really does blow my mind the seller thought sending me this collection was okay...
@@FranchiseKicks I would like to ask them, Have you ever heard of RU-vid?? Since this Franchise Kicks guy only has like 4 subscribers maybe I can pull a fast one on him. Lol.
this is the 2nd really bad funko collection you have had you would have thought that no one would be stupid enough to send you a collection that is this bad and you would not see it and tell them
I have been contacted by other people who were approached to buy this collection over the past 3 months. Everybody passes on it due to damage and counterfeits. He knew that the collection had major issues and wasn't up front with me about it.
People have to definitely let the buyer know condition of their pops to give the buyer a heads up what to expect even if you swap the stickers let the buyer know don't pull a fast one on someone trying to put money in your pocket and theirs at the end of the day!
Cancel your cheque straight away, some people will try anything to get what they want! But a good video that shows us what we should look out for! Newish to your channel and don't usually make comments!
Yep, the seller is out shipping both ways because I am at no fault here. The seller wasn't honest about the condition of the collection from the get go and I would have never agreed to buy this collection if I had known it was this badly damaged.
Stop using whatnot, it's a obvious ripe off site where products sale for far over ppg or even eBay prices, sellers use friends to push the prices up and seem like people really want these junk items.
Whatnot is a wonderful app to buy and sell collectibles. 99% of the time, pops are no longer selling for over PPG Value or ebay prices. If anybody shill bids for others, they get suspended.
Man, so not cool. I'm wanting to start buying collections but I'm advertising as in person only because I'm scared of that. People need to be honest and stand by what they are doing.
@@hicknopunk I don't get the whole Pop collecting thing either, but it's interesting to watch sometimes. I have literally one singular Pop, it's an Eevee, and I took it out of the box because it displays better that way. Got a bunch of flack from some friends because I broke the rules or something lol.
