Agreed. Even with the items I buy second hand, a lot of the sellers will put in fresh packaging unless they still have the original box. Some even go so far as to re tape the original box to keep it looking as new as possible. This is honestly just bad business overall.

I managed to get a free box of 5 because of this. If any serious Funko Pop collector is watching this listen to Otaku, and I here. They open them so they can take anything that is valuable, then give a shit basic one and retape it.

Ughhh... I hate dumb people. So first of all, youre buying fucking mystery boxes as an adult. There is no guarantee. This is gambling. With any form of gambling we accept that the house hedges the bets in their favor and that your "chance" is always at a disadvantage. Funko manufactures these toys. M3 buys them and resells them. They are a distributor. The boxes you are getting your toy in, ARE REPACKS! So what does this mean? This means that when M3 receives their shipment of bulk toys, they are organized and distributed throughout the warehouse. They KNOW what is inside each box. They then take overstock or slow moving product and categorize it into the "mystery" category. This typically is a mutually beneficial deal for the seller and the consumer. The seller gets to move product he has not been able to sell and the buyer gets a decent deal on a marked down unit. The seller can also mark this unit up a bit based on the "chance" that the buyer could get something better. So now we have a pile of "mystery" merchandise that is all placed in one portion of the warehouse. This product was selected by hand and these pieces were logged into a different portion of the inventory system, similar to clearance items. These pieces get boxed and prepared for shipment. The company now uses filler pieces to guarantee value. They go through the warehouse and select specific pieces that round out your purchase and bump your value up. This is an important distinction, because they were never searching your boxes to try and STEAL your prize... There was never a fucking prize to begin with. You were purchasing stock they were having issues moving or stock that they got at a good discount and could make a quick profit on. By checking your boxes they were ensuring that each customer received a baseline amount of value in good faith. Source: I used to own an airsoft distribution company and sold thousands and thousands of mystery boxes. Did you think this was just a warehouse full of random boxes that were unmarked at that employees were haphazardly walking around and picking boxes at random to send to clients??? How would you manage your inventory? How would you ensure that the guaranteed prizes were ever sent out? How would you log your customer complaints or manage any returns (most mystery boxes shouldnt even allow returns to maintain integrity for the contest)? How would you... Distribute? I obviously dont know their exact setup but good lord man, youre an adult! How cant you understand this?

When he complains about the seals being broken (the tape not being adhered to the package) they can simply say that the adhesive properties of the tape often fail with inconsistent temperatures due to shipping. I'm telling you... I sold mystery boxes for a living. I made an awful lot of money doing it. You are gambling. The house always wins. Want to know what the return policy will likely be? No returns. They may allow him to return these as a good faith gesture, but the company itself is completely protected when selling mystery boxes.

Given the boxes had business cards in them it's totally possible that they didn't change any of them and were just putting their cards in there. Given they also probably order them on large crates they probably just open them to check inventory so they can claim that they have X number of uncommon available. Maybe not but just playing devils advocate.

5 of 6 boxes had biz cards the one none common didn't have a card and 6 of 6 boxes where opened then resealed. So to try and say they opened the boxes to put there biz card in is crazy talk and a complete waste of time and money. These boxes are advertised as prepacked and picked at random. So to pay someone to go reopen each box to put a biz card in it is just unrealistic. When in the real world you put the card in before sealing the box in the first place. This dude got screwed and the called them out. Bottom line he caught them falsely advertising. And that is a illegal act in America. Just saying

But purposefully opening and re-sealing packages to keep most of the non commons to sell at full price IS the problem. The reason they keep most of the non commons is because they cost more than the normal ones. Its a shady business practice that shows the mystery boxes aren't even fully randomized. And he's a paying customer so he has the right to make a valid complaint rather than just let it slide.

What county are you from that your mail gets opened and your right to privacy gets invaded and you just accept it? If I received a package and it was opened by anyone other than customs (I don’t shop overseas so I don’t have that problem) I’d raise hell about it. We have privacy laws in America guaranteed by our constitution that no other country on earth enjoys.

Although it is an American territory there are still customs, and cell phones are considered international. Everything is inspected here and honestly, it does bother me that they open my mail.

orcas800 ok I understand now. Unfortunately when everything is considered foreign and goes through customs that’s something you have to deal with. Customs isn’t involved in shipping domestically so we don’t have that issue here, but when we get things from over seas we deal with the same mess that’s why I try to always buy domestic when I shop online so my privacy isn’t invaded. I’d imagine being from a tiny island buying domestic might be difficult.

This is a lucky dip and you're gambling on the word and legitimacy of the seller. They could quite easily sell many more than the 100 mystery boxes and all of which are just commons. There's no way to know there's 86 commons and 14 exclusives without shit being opened and sealed/ repackaged. If the boxes are marked on the outside then well that fucks up the whole premise of mystery too doesn't it?

Meaning the tape on the boxes would be securely fastened to the box, not opened to see what the 'mystery item' would be before sending it out. The mystery should be a 360 degree, all around mystery to not only the company, but also the consumer. The box should also not have any signs of tampering, meaning no tape cut, no box cutter 'stab' wounds to the box, no dents looking like it was treated like a D.I.Y soccer ball, etc. You wouldn't want a product to come to you battered and beaten and tampered with. No one wants items they spend a good sum of money on, to come to their doorstep looking pre-owned, pre-opened, or pre-tampered with, especially if it's listed as 'Brand New'.

Not saying they aren't shady, i never would have done this stupid deal to begin with, (blind box Funkos? So many garbage ones!!!), and now i wouldn't touch M3 with a pole. But why create this weird hypothetical of a shipper stealthily opening boxes to take rare valuable ones for his buddies on the side (wearing a fake mustache and glasses too!?). When its probably a 1 or 2 person operation, and they didn't have anything more valuable than that Flash in there to begin with.

while it is all just hypothetical, it is the first thing my mind wandered to while he was explaining the situation and condition of the boxes. However, I would like to add that it probably isn't just a "1 or 2" man operation since their customer service rep had to pass off the correspondence to the owner. It would only take that one crappy employee in shipping to pull off a stunt like this, make sure the best ones go to the right place, quick easy cash reselling the more valuable ones, and no one is any the wiser (or so they thought)

When you pay money for a item and service, you want that item and 100% quality of that service. The service in this situation is you will receive 1 random Funko pop, which it can be either a common or a rare pop, which is completely random and not human manipulated in anyway.. People purchase mystery boxes for the enjoyment of the risk and the gamble of receiving a rare and expensive funko pop.. The boxes sure look like they were opened and then resealed. It looks like the company wanted to make sure that they weren't sending out 6 rare pops out to 1 single customer, because they think 1 or 2 rare pops would be fair for someone who purchase 6. and also that would take away the chances from their other customers . They wanted to make sure they weren't sending out 6 rare pops to the same person. That is wrong and I believe that's what happen in this case. I am glad that he posted this video to show the bad deeds about this not so honest company. Also, not to even mention that shadyness that they sent you those 6 boxes inside 2 large priority rate mail box, That is against USPS rules, and I am surprise that they allowed it to be shipped out like that and not returned to the sender. Those boxes are meant to only be used with Priority Rate Services and that's the only reason they give them out for free at the post office.You can't use 2 priority rate boxes for 1 priority rate shipping label. So for them to take advantage of the post office and not following their rules, I wonder what other rules they don't follow as well.

The company is packing the boxes with their own stock, that's why the business card is in there. These "sealed" boxes aren't coming from Funko.
