You should watch the comanche version of Prey, where the characters speak in their native tongue with English subtitles. I found I enjoyed it a whole lot more. You should find it in the extras.
Fun fact: Andrew Jacobs, the main actor from PA: Marked Ones is my blood related first cousin. My mom was a foster kid, though, so she never knew her blood family until later in life. Never ever met the dude or talked to him. My mom has rekindled her blood ties throughout the past 10-15 years and has met him a few times when she goes out to LA though.
The Texas Chainsaw Remake scared the crap out of me in theaters, and you're right. The gore wasn't over the top, but I do remember the sound effects being REALLY impactful. The hook scene just makes you cringe. Prometheus is the only movie I've ever fallen asleep in the theater watching lol I remember watching Wrong Turn 5 and having a moment where I thought I was losing my love of horror because I was saddened as I watched it. Hearing you say it was mean spirited means it wasn't just me. (And obviously I wasn't losing my taste for horror, haha). I only truly acknowledge the first and the 2021 version.
I saw it in theaters. One of the best remakes IMO. Along with Dead Rising and F13 (2009) underrated movie IMO. The other TCM after the remake are pretty trash. Idk what tf they were thinking while making those movies
@@LineupLARRY-69 Did you watch it? nothing like the originals, shouldnt even have the Wrong turn name. Not scary, shitty acting, and completely forgettable.
I’ll never understand why people hate the TCM remake. I fucking love it! Also holds a special place in my heart since my dad took me to see it a year before he passed.
I adore the remake sure it has its issues but it had a very gritty and darker vibe that I liked a lot and Leatherface scared me in this one the most than the other movies
I dig it for what it is! A well made slasher. I actually the prequel better because it brought back the cannibalism. Nothing in my eyes will match the freaky vibe of the original though.
Same here..it's actually one of my favorite horror films period...I love that film...I always found it to be perfectly executed...for years I thought I was in the minority but recently I see more and more people giving it the respect it deserves
Probably not a popular opinion but Friday the 13th Part 5 a new beginning is one of my favorite of the series. It's just so wacky and over the top I love it.
You're knocking them out the park with these videos.Think I've said it before but this is a brilliant idea, surprised no one has thought of this before but that's why you're the man & a notch above the rest.
Good God, your videos are so good and your commentary is spot on. You are so energetic and fun that even though I haven't watched some of the movies you talked about, I can still hear you talk about them and not feel bored. Great job as usual, Cody!
I feel like I'm the only one that actually really loves Erin (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003) as a final girl. I think she is way better than any other final girl that the horror genre has seen. I do get she makes some dumb decisions, but I think overall she's a really strong character who just gets wrapped up in the heat of the moment
The thing I like about Leprechaun in the hood is that unlike the other films most of the time, this one actually gives us a reason to care about the main protagonists
Honestly Friday the 13th part 5 is the most underrated in the series. It's called a new beginning what did you all expect? The only reason Jason was brought back as a zombie, was because of the backlash of "this movie sucks because Jason isn't in it" Just like Halloween 3 and Michael Myers (Halloween 3 was fantastic). But because the fans bitched and moaned, Jason returned. I think Friday the 13th would have been interesting if Tommy Jarvis was the new killer. But 🤷
Friday the 13 5 sucked with jason or not ..and the backlash was the best thing that happened cause after that a great sequel came : jason lives .jason lives was amazing
I'll say this about paranormal activity 5...better than 4, 6, and better at being a reboot than 7. In my opinion. Halloween 5 and Elm street 5...not as painful as they're 6th (in Halloween's case 6th and 8th, I actually like Rob Zombie's Halloween 2) entries.
Interesting thing when it comes to the fivequel and sixquels they tend to either drop the ball or have a revitalising hit or an attempt at that. I always have a soft spot for Nightmare on Elm Street 5 tho it is quite an underrated film it has the best nightmare sequences and visuals and arguably soundtrack in the series.
Been on a horror binge lately, going back and watching a lot of the classics i've never seen before, and it's awesome to have this as a sort of companion for that while i'm away from home and need something to listen to. Keeps me in the horror mood, love it! Just watched Prey on a plane ride the other day, then watched part 5 of Friday the 13th last night, so this couldn't have been better timed
I feel like for a lot of millennials TCM (2003) was the “holy sh*t!” entry into the horror genre that leaves a lot of nostalgia. Love to see the love for the film!
It was done and it was done RIGHT! The same can't be said for most of the other remakes. They keep remaking stuff that's already great (just useless cash grabs)
@@moxiemaxie3543 when millennials were 5-7 years old that’s when Halloween 4/6/Curse/H20 were being released and I highly doubt (for their sake) those were the films hooking millennials in lol.
I also wanted to say I agree with everything you said about NOES 5. it's really just unwatchable for me after the first 15 minuets or so. However I gotta say, I kinda fuck with Halloween 5. sure it's a huge step down from what we got in 4(possibly my 2nd or 3rd favorite) but I loved the scythe kill, and how just wildly over the top Loomis is. I feel like anybody at that point would be like that after chasing Michael around for 4 flicks. all the same it is in the top 3 weakest Halloween films but I don't think it's as bad as NOES 5.
Cody, I love to see all the praise you’re getting. You spoke to my soul and took every thought out of my head when you posted your epic Dexter rant, and I’ve been watching you since. I love when we agree and still stay interested we don’t ❤️
Cody, man, I love your vids bro. I’ve been on a binge with your content for like a month now & I can’t get enough. I run a show on a local radio station & you seem like such a cool dude I talked about your content on it a little bit You rock!
Just hearing the name of his favourite movie of all time, while talking about his second least favourite horror sequel ever, makes me sure that his third most hated sequel is the fifth installment of that Classic franchise
Bro I just found you like two weeks ago... But I have consumed so much of your content. You're a real talent brother. Love hearing your takes. Wish you all the success in the world sir!
Great video Cody, I'm really enjoying this ranking style of video. Would love to see you rank other things in the same way...maybe final girls, first kills, or horror sub-genres (comparing slashers to body horror to creature features etc.)
In NOES5, the ending shot with the nun trying to hold in Freddy while the camera zooms out through a bunch of exploding doors is awesome! Way too cool for the movie it's in.
I would’ve put nightmare 5 in kills two hours. I like the movie but not love it cause what I like about nightmares 3-5 is they really focus on the dream aspect of this franchise cause the original’s dream sequences is pretty much regular stuff or the boiler room. I really like the dream sequences in this movie from the set pieces like the one used in the finale, I like the kills really unique , the idea of the film I thought was used good, the part where Freddy is feeding Jacob the souls of his father and Greta I think is pretty horrifying, the central theme of the movie I thought was good, Alice is my fav final girl I like Nancy but Alice is technically the best final girl in the franchise since she has more accomplishments than the others and she survived two encounters with Freddy. Also liked more elaboration on Amanda’s character since her backstory was touched on in the 3rd movie but making her the reason on how Freddy was brought back and beaten was unique. That’s just my opinion tho I’ll take this film over Freddy’s dead.
@@Nicholas_Chen_ oh wait were you the one chatting with me on Alanda Parkers video. I like to call nightmare 3-5 the church trilogy since religion basically beats Freddy in those movies. This movie definitely has its problems but I have a good time with it
Just found your channel by chance today and binged a few of your tier list videos. Great content. With this one, can't argue with many of your placements (Saw V would be higher, but I adore the Saw series as a whole), and it's great to listen to another who appreciates remakes rather than go with the usual knee-jerk "remakes = bad" reaction so many others default to (I wrote two articles advocating for the merits of remakes a few years ago). Listening to your comment about Prey (and taking into account this was a year ago), there is a cut of the film where the Comanche characters speak Comanche (all of the cast recorded their lines in English and then later recorded them in Comanche).
Wow, was pleasantly surprised to see you talk about Prey.. I watched it on a whim when I saw it on a streaming service and thought it was awesome. I didn't hear anything about it beforehand which I thought was weird considering how good it is.
@16:43 I gotta say as a person who holds this movie to the highest degree(could be argued that it's the movie that got me into horror) I think it's a travesty we didn't get more movies from the director. he absolutely slayed making this and the Friday 13th remake. both hands down better than the originals
I’d hardly say the TCM remake is hands down better than the original. I can understand why a lot of people prefer it, but the original definitely has some merit and can be argued to be better than the remake. I’m not a super hardcore Texas Chainsaw fan but I think both are good and could easily be preferred over the other. It feels kinda disingenuous to say the remake is hands down better.
@@daehkcid9996 personally I can't stand 70s horror 8/10 of the time. it's always slow and like I get why people like it. it's just not for me. even tho the original TCM is like 79 minuets long it somehow always puts me to sleep. I like and prefer the high octane, pulse pumping action in the remake, the characters are actual characters unlike everyone other than Sally and Franklin in the original. and idk I just feel like there's never been a competition between the 2 on which film is better.
Totally agree about TCM Remake!! I remember taking my goddaughter who was 13 at the time. We were terrified, u remember grown men behind us screaming! No movie since then has affected us Luke that!!
I like Halloween 5 more than Nightmare 5, but Scream 5 more than both. Nightmare, while more stylized and competent than H5, suffers from wasting the cast, not enough pacing with the kills, and a whole final act that is just in LSD. Friday 5 is above H5 for me because at least you get them trying to do something different for a slasher. And more humor.
See I quite like Nightmare 5 for the reason you mentioned the LSD visuals and the gothic style are just excellent 👌 probably the most ‘nightmare’ in the series. They went all out with the visuals.
@@Nicholas_Chen_ Yes but it was too little too late. By that point we get a boring comic kill in a progressively less interesting cast. I would have traded that for more of the gothic ending and instead replaced it with a "surprise" opening kill.
the ones i’ve seen: •Horror Classics - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre •Bloody Good Time - Final Destination 5, Prey, Scream 5 •Kills Two Hours - Saw V, Friday the 13th: Part V - A New Beginning, Prometheus •Painful - A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers, Hellraiser: Inferno •Slow Death - Seed of Chucky
Horror classics: Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) Final Destination 5 Bloody Good Time: Prometheus Prey Scream 5 Seed of Chucky (guilty pleasure) Leprechaun in the Hood Kills 2 Hours: Resident Evil: Retribution Underworld: Blood Wars Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist The Forever Purge Painful: Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones Halloween 5: Revenge of Michael Myers The Omen (2006) Slow death: Saw 5 Psycho (1998) A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 Friday the 13th: A New Beginning Never seen: Critters Attack and Wrong Turn 5 Great tier lists videos, Cody. These have been a fun time to watch so far.
Not saying Elm Street 5 is good by any means, because it isnt, but it seems like you hate Dream Child more now than you did back in 2017-2018 I really enjoy these videos and I can't wait for the next one!
Yes! I don't know what is, but Halloween 5 feels more like Fall/Halloween than many of the other movies. It just has a weird atmosphere that makes it feel like a cozy, atumn movie for me even though I realize how many issues the movie has
Agreed on Texas chainsaw I love that version of it… it’s not as inherently creepy as the original and I’m a huge fan of the original.. this version of the story as a stand alone movie is damn good imo 👍
TCM Remake is a good movie! Leather face is taken serious in this one. I do think forever purge should be ranked higher. It brought a different concept to the series
I always liked Friday 5 more than most people simply for the portrayal of Tommy Jarvis. It's easily one of the more realistic interpretations of someone who went through an encounter with a person like Jason at a young age
Wow part fives are really rough. Only 3 of these movies managed to get in the top 2 tiers or your list lol. That being said, these videos are a lot of fun, keep up the great work Cody
Our family always gets together to watch your new videos and we love your channel. We've spent a lot of family time the past 2 years eathing popcorn, watching your videos. We are all confused though.. we all are wondering how a guy as intelligent as you are could like the Chucky franchise like you do. lol ...
From my perspective, I sometimes like when someone does a remake, copy and paste. A great movie with outdated visuals and old people that young people don’t know
Scream (2022) - kills 2 hours (hopefully 6 will be classic) A nightmare on elm street 5 - painful Halloween 5 - slow death Wrong turn 5 - slow death Prometheus- kills 2 hours Psycho (remake) - painful (there was room to make a great that took some twists and turns but it’s literally the same. The only fun part is seeing how it copies the original and setting them side by side) Saw 5 - kills 2 hours (don’t remember a lot wrong with it but I just have not gotten into the saw franchise at that point) Final destination 5 - kills 2 hours Seed of chucky - slow death The omen (remake) - painful Texas chainsaw massacre (2003 remake) - bloody good time Friday the 13th part 5 - painful (I almost said KILLS 2 HOURS, but I just don’t vibe with older slasher movies that often, especially this franchise and this was the first Friday the 13th that genuinely gave me that cheap slasher sequel feel in the franchise with meh characters in my opinion, and a cool idea that didn’t pay off at all)
I would go Halloween 5 in the Kills 2 hours… I don’t love it , kinda grew up on it, liked it when I was a kid see the flaws now… but def don’t hate it, but would rather watch many others in the franchise over it… Seed of Chucky is either Painful or a very low tier kills 2 hours, depending on the mood lol
One of my favourite RU-vidrs by far Cody.. thanks to you I got into Breaking Bad and now its one of my favourite shows of all time.. keep it up buddy 👌👌👌
