I read the entire series when it was running in a weekly boys magazine in the 60s. Some of the stories were such standouts that I still remember them to this day.
Hi Rave, just discovered your channel while searching for this new, deluxe edition of Cat-Eyed Boy. I've always been interested in this title and missed my chance to get the original English publications. Thanks for the the flip-through and your thoughts.
I think it’s just a straight reissue of the version from the early 2000s. I believe it to be an average reproduction, and honestly I haven’t seen too many of the manga titles getting a face lift here in the US. I would love to see some more effort put into some of these titles as well as larger page size (more like the original magazine size they were originally printed at. But I’m imagining cost and probably low sales means this is unlikely outside of Japan. But I’d love to be surprised.
Did you see the video by Cartoonist Kayfab on the artist edition of Lone Wolf and Cub and the difference between what he drew and how little showed up in the printed comic? Heartbreaking. But no one could afford to print (or buy) the entire series published that way.
@@ravesensation5533 yes I’ve seen it. It is really sad but who knows, if Dark Horse puts out deluxe editions of Lone Wolf and cub we might get higher quality scans. It could also be a situation where they can only work with what the Japanese publisher provides.
Agreed, but as big as manga is here in the USA, this market is still considered pretty small for the Japanese publishers which is why so few titles get the deluxe editions.
@@ravesensation5533 which is a shame babe otherwise I would’ve bought this edition…. Ohhhhh who am I kidding I’m getting this thanks to u 💕 ur work an enthusiasm for comics an art I always look forward to ur next vid 💖💖💖
