I love the fact that you suddenly realized you had one novella too many. If you need to lose one I'd suggest My Sister, the Serial Killer which is more of a thriller or even literary fiction.

Since I've been adding some (new to me) horror books to my Kindle library, this will be a good opportunity to actually read them:) Possible TBRs are: Short story collections: Lullabies for Suffering: Tales of Addiction Horror; Orphans of Bliss: Tales of Addiction Horror Novellla: Some of Your Blood by Theodore Sturgeon Novels: The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson The Manitou by Graham Masterson Pig Island by Mo Hayder
@BookBlather

Lullabies for Suffering was my backup short story collection for last year! I thought about it for this year, but as you can see, too many choices! Part of why I bought it is because Kealan Patrick Burke has a tale in there (and the ridiculously awesome cover). Will be curious to see what you think of you try it!

Looking forward to reading a bunch of horror in May! Mapping the Interior is excellent and I really liked Psycho-even though you know the twist it was still compelling. Survivor was -a book. 😆 Have a spooky time!

Night Shift is brilliant! One of my favorite short story collections. Horror is my genre so this is great! Survivor is messed up! Lots of trigger warnings so if you're new to horror i would consider skipping that one. Hi Olive!💕📚

There's Olive working that flawless thumbnail magic yet again! I have NO idea where this comparison is coming from, but she strikes me as a cute version of that eyeball/hand monster thing from "Pan's Labyrinth." 🐕 Sounds like you have great plans -- dug the shoutout to Pax. Hope you enjoy the event. I'm gonna try getting some horror read. And I'm talking about loosening up and reading some fiction! Not just burrowing into some nihilism-inducing tome about a plague, genocide, or mandated eugenics program. 🤪

@BookBlather I definitely want to read another Laird Barron collection. And I have some stuff by authors named Scott Smith and Michael McDowell that was recommended. And I still need to try the Swan Song guy (his name escapes my aging brain). Plus, it might be fun to revisit a bit of Poe and Lovecraft. So yeah, I have a "few" options in mind. 😁

Interesting choices 👍 Psycho is based on a real life serial killer. Ed and Lorraine Warren were investigators. Just read Lovecraft for the first time a few months ago, really enjoyed his work, wait read The Dunwich Horror years ago. Enjoy the reads.

🐕Love the way she yawned as you introduced her! She cannot be bothered with fame! 😸😆 The way I look at it the classics are Poe and others like him. If they are calling 80s King "classical" then they are selling themselves short! "Night Shift's" stories are some of the better King in my view. I remember enjoying it as a teen around 1985. But I think he went downhill starting with "It" and then his fan-hating "Misery" and has been rolling to the bottom ever since 😆😸
@BookBlather
@BookBlather 5 месяцев назад
I am very poorly read when it comes to King. But I picked up the first two Dark Tower books and am hoping to tackle that before too long. Also have and plan to try Fairy Tale. Read those?
@JohnSeney
@JohnSeney 5 месяцев назад
@@BookBlather No I think those are among his more up to date things! I was done with him even before "Misery" in the 90s wherein he attacked his own multitude of fans in the psycho woman character. The only thing I'm still willing to read by him would be his short story collections because sure enough, I have good memories of "Night Shift" which you have there! 👍 "Skeleton Crew" is another good collection of his 👍 and there are other up to date ones I have not gotten to yet

The nearest local author to me is Washington Irving, in Sleepy Hollow (formerly known as North Tarrytown). I wouldn't count The Legend of Sleepy Hollow as real horror, though. Otherwise, I'd have to go upstate for Joyce Carol Oates. She has some possibilities.

Hi dave, I'm a new Sub, I'm a huge james herbert fan, he for me is the best horror writer. I'm also a indy horror writer, and just had my first horror book read by a booktuber for HM this month. Can i ask if do you do indy reviews?, if not don't worry, i've had other booktuber do reviews of my books, but you don't know unless you ask.

@@BookBlather thanks dave i would love to hear what you think, Also anything James herbert is a real treat, I always thougt the film the fog and the book by herbert were the same story, i was suprised yo learn they were completly diffreant. With the herbert fog being scifi horror, and the movie supernatrual in nature.
