I hope when the young Guard and Horse come back on guard again, the police will keep the idiots away. I don't know anything about horses or riding but that did look scary to me.
@AnnP: I have been riding since I was 7 and I have retired now and have seen similar things. Problems can obviously be caused by the horse but I have found that most problems are rider or Tack orientated. When that horse was backing up into the railings it was doing so due to the message it was getting from the rider, as I previously stated. My surprise is that the guards foot placement in the stirrup wasn't noticed by the guard or the soldier that came to help. When I was 15 or so, I learnt a valuable lesson, I was showing off at the beginning of a gallop on a large and powerful gelding, this horse decide that I ought to be taught a lesson and threw me out the side door by spinning left for one and a half turns and then stopping and spinning in the other direction, comments were made that the horse was wayward and I made it quite clear that it was my fault! As an aside, I was taught by a retired (60 year old?) Cavalry man at his stables in Chislehurst, Kent.
@@Loki1815 yes I noticed he had his toes right down in the stirrups which would force the stirrups into his ankles so he wouldn't have been able to give the horse his usual command's.
True not only that the horse is not use to being around a lot of people he's new to that job he's a freshly broken horse he's new at riding you can tell by his attitude and the way he acts around a crowd of people
Any normal horse would have been bucking, rearing up!! He’s afraid but still acted like a true soldier! He’s had enough, he’s mount unbelievable! Understood him, got him out of the situation.. Well done
Agreed, umbrellas are completely scary for any horse. I know they are trained to ignore them, but gut instincts affect all creatures: something flapping in front of you has to be disconcerting for a horse.
Those bright plastic raincoats too. Tourists are so thoughtless around the horses then you get people on here claiming the horses aren’t cared for. Even the steadiest horse can spook sometimes at the slightest thing.
Awful, disrespectful, and crude people. Horses are sentient beings: just like us. I admire the way their handlers treat them: the guards show the wonderful bond and respect that they have for them even when both are under unwarranted. pressure.
@The Winning Tortoise Why should he have been too tired? He's not been there for more than an hour. They change guard and horse every hour.More likely the umbrellas, and possibly rain that spooked him.contrary to popular opinion, it doesn't rain that often in the UK.
I think the horse was just having a bad day. The guard is trying to get the horse to go and has to use the spurs but the horse does not want to. The soldier with the beret looks after the horses. I have seen him take the horses back before when they are not well.
Poor horses. They go through so much and apparently this horse was just having a moment. The rider was brave and it was nice to see one of the stable assistant's came to reassure the horse that everything is okay.
@@secretsquirrel7374 If you have ever owned a horse who gets spooked easily, you'd understand why I said, "Poor Horses". I was speaking about horses in general. Not singling the working horses who are there at the palace.
@Lisa Bohl sorry, I just reread your comment and I can see now I took it the wrong way, apologies. I've had several horses, one of which wasn't scared of anything ever and one that was scared of a blade of grass or a leaf being a different colour! The first one being of very similar breeding to the household cavalry horses (he would have made a fantastic police horse) and the other was a warmblood x Arab! He did get a bit braver as he got older though bless him.
Give him space people, sheesh. It could be the brollies, but it could also be the sound of the tyres on the wet road. My friends dog was happy in the car until we slowed down to turn a corner or on certain road surfaces. There's a sound we can't hear, and it took us a while to figure it out.
All look very carefully at the actual guard and wot he's doing....he is digging his spurs into the side of that horse and pulling him back on the reins....I do wonder sometimes if these horses are really that happy with whim ythey have sitting astride them...bloody cruel😢
I was looking. He was kicking the horse forward and giving with his hands. He had literally no contact with his mouth and certainly wasn't pulling. The horse was just being naughty and napping. They know they can do this and get taken back to the stables. Horses aren't stupid. They also know they can't be told off either.
@@susanhansen1202yeah look at that barbaric thing in his mouth . He has two bits in his mouth . Why ??? No need for that kind of harsh thing .must be so uncomfortable and sore .
@Polly Palomino because its a double bridle! 1000s of horses are ridden in them every day. I'm pretty sure the household cavalry know more about bits than you and me and everyone else put together! If the bit was bothering him then they have their own bit experts that will sort it out.
What a horrible rider! The tongue was over the bitt! Thats why the horse was stressed out. The rider used to much spurrs and to much force. The rider needs some dressage lessons. 🤬🤬🤬
The ball of the Guards right foot wasn't in the stirrup properly, it had slid though and therefore pointed down, bringing the spur up into the Horses side. It was getting mixed messages, being pulled back on the reins and driven on on the right side on the girth, equals one confused horse!
No. Horses aren't that sensitive or they literally wouldn't do anything. He was being nappy and naughty. As soon as they start doing this they get taken back to the stables.
Most tourists assume the King's Guard are no more than 'British Tourists Attractions' and don't realize the consequences of their actions. I always thought there should be some sort of educational recordings or pamphlets or perhaps a speech given that explains the history behind the King's Guard as well as what their purpose is in today's world... 🤔
My Opinion is that they need to change that Sign on the wall to Please be considered of the Gaurds and the Horses, do NOT feed the horses. Horses do love the attention because they probably get a bit bored standing there with all those people omg. But.. The gaurds shouldn't let just Anyone put there hand to the horses Mouth! One of these days some stupid person or for a prank is going to have something in their hand that could upset the horse or its Mouth and tummy !
This horse is in pain, possibly there is something wrong with the bit, these bits are harsh enough without being fitted incorrectly. On top of that the rider constantly jabs at the poor horse with the spurs on his boots. Lucky you don't have bolting horses on your hands in such situations, if a horse wants to run, it will. It angers me that the rider didn't get off and lead the horse back to the stable to rectify the situation or, better still, give the horse the day off! 😢 Horses do not protest for no reason.
this is why the public should not be allowed to walk through Horse Guards they should not be allowed to use the parade ground and arches as cut through they should walk around The Guards and horses should be given the area uninterupted to carry out their duties without the worry of the public always beign in their way Those poor horses umbrellas at eye level
It is a tourist attraction. They advertise for visitors. There is an admission to tour the stables. They even will give you a map with best areas to watch the changing of the guard with your ticket purchase. Can you imagine the cost to keep all those horses? Raising horses is very expensive.
I have had enough is there no one with experience noticing the stress that bit is having on that horse it's tongue purtruding shaking his head people laughing this is a joke your filming this. A horse can be controlled without a torturous mouth piece this upsets me extremely if people and you find this amusing then you don't have any respect for these horses the gaurds if trained should know the horse is in stress it does my head in
The horse is in pain due to that darn bit in his mouth. It's painful because you can see it. It's put on wrong by the guard! The guard has already been told by a gentleman who knows horses (probably owns a few himself) and he told the guard that the bit in its mouth is on WRONG! This is why the horse is buckling and is in pain. It's not afraid of the people, its bit is on WRONG!
I know nothing about horses but I think I’ve seen only one ( in all the videos I’ve watched recently) that didn’t seem irritated by, possibly the bit in it’s mouth, I only think that because of the constant nodding of their heads and chewing of their mouths plus the noise of people milling around and wanting to touch them. Add to that these horses have to stand mostly without moving for an hour, is it natural to expect an animal to tolerate all that and not expect them to get stressed and act up sometimes?
@@secretsquirrel7374 I do know about horses and the bit wasn't sitting right, horses don't as a rule foam at the mouth and throw their heads. You don't have to agree but please be kind....it's free.
@@cherylmilner7460 I agree. I can't tell what kind of bit it is, all I can see is curved shank/cheek piece and a bar that looks maybe like broken in the middle. By broken I mean as opposed to a low or medium port. They look maybe to high into the corners of the mouth. I noticed when in formation, a lot of the horses doing the head motion that says they're being held to tight. Maybe riders a little nervous and clenching reins. Horses wear stretching heads and necks, all of them. However, ranch horses I know, this tack, no clue.
@@secretsquirrel7374 feel better? At last superior to someone. But maybe not. That could just be a really lame remark and you don't know anything either.
Of course they can stand for an hour. What do you think they do in a stable or a field. They can sleep standing up. It’s the nature of horses sometimes to get spooked. It can be anything. To say these horses are not well cared for is just ridiculous. It is a reminder to tourists to not take them for granted. The reason for the signs,
When are they going to stop the public from milling around the horses, it worries them and this is why they get agitated and unsettled, keep the public away before there is a serious accident with one of the riders are a member of the public
This guy needs to get riding lessons. His feet are not down in the heel and therefore spur keeps jabbing the horse. I wouldnt like it either. The spurs are upsetting him as they are remaining in his side.
I do not understand people, do they not know animals feel fear and react to loud noise and people crowding them, these guard horses are socialized but they are still animals who can not say LEAVE ME THE HELL ALONE!!!!!
There should be a vet or at least a groom (they must be there for the horses) to come out and look over the horse. Sometimes this kind of behavior can be the result of a physical problem, like toothache or other mouth problems, or ill fitting bit (all the foam at the mouth and tossing the head and working the mouth could be a symptoms). Even in the box the horse is unsettled. It usually isn't that the horse is acting out for the sake of it. It should be checked over quickly just to see if something is wrong. This horse is obviously in distress.
Don’t you think that these guards are experienced enough to know when the horse is in need of help. A vet? It’s clear the horse has been spooked, but If it’s the bit that’s displaced it will soon be obvious. Why would you see a horse briefly on a video and assume you know better than these professionals.
I would be distressed as well if people/tourists kept invading my space. Did you see how at least two couples lend into the horse to take selfies?? And we don't know what happened before we saw this short clip. My opinion... The tourists/people should respect the guards and the horses. They are not there for our entertainment....
Poor horse looks like he is having a hard day with all the tourists with their umbrellas. There should be some sort of barricade between the King's Guard and his horse and tourists just for protection.
Very loud noise from cars driving by in the rain keeps fluctuating, plus all the different umbrellas coming from all different directions.Poor beautiful animals. They put up with so much with several people touching them at once & crowds growing larger & closing in. Add a screaming baby & it’s a limit for man & beast! God bless the poor guards trying to calm the poor horses!
Poor horsey was saying , NOT TODAY PEOPLE!!!!!! It raining , I'm tired of people rubbing my face and pulling my reins !!!! Let me stretch my legs a little with a walk around !
Immediately the hirse was settled the tourists rushed with lots of nouse yltaking photos snd selfies..no regsrd for enedgy horse or their own safety..it is all wrong...
I don't think he was feeling well. His stomach seems bloated. He needed to be taken away, untacked and walked for a time. They have bad days just like humans.
The one thing I would like to see is for those horrible bits that the horses have to endure they are barbaric there as to be a better way it is cruelty they would only need one around the nose and the reign you don’t need all that nonsense I am sure the horse would be more comfortable I feel sick to my stomach when I see the tongue 👅 caught in the bit it must be a nightmare for them they are magnificent horses 🐎 and they should not have to be in pain or distressed I hope that it will change sooner or later 😦😰😬😊
I wish they would change the bits they use! That is the problem. They are to big and hurt their mouth. That is why they are always shaking their head and biting on it! It hurts them.
You must think spurs are all like those that Prince Harry used to maul that Polo horse that eventually died. They are not! Try some learning before you get all cocky about your lack of the subject!!!
Ce cheval est en détresse ! Vite à l'écurie loin de tous ces touristes et leurs natels et parapluies .... Quand donc vont cesser ces spectacles de marionnettes ...où les plus touchés sont....LES CHEVAUX !😢
Another horse in pain/discomfort from the bit ! These bits seem too harsh, the horses are often having a problem with them . In the vid' OMG,Give him a Break ' from today, you will see another poor horse with it's tongue hanging out being crowded by noisy people and no one says anything to help 😟!
Poor horse. You probably need a vacay out in the country. Hey, just a brief moment, at the right of the screen, I saw a vehicle driving into the courtyard?
Nappy little sod. They arent stupid. That horse knows it only has to mess about for a bit and he'll be taken back to a nice warm stable with a nice big haynet.
I do wonder if these beautiful horses get restless of standing so long in one position. No water and food during that time, and a heavy Guard on their backs. And on top of that crazy tourists. I know these horses are treated extremely well when not guarding; however, I too would go nuts just standing there. I love hearing the horses 'talk.'
There should be more precautions! Tourist should not be allowed near the horses , after all they are part of the soldiers equipment for the Kings protection! Tourist don’t need to be near for a photo! They are so disrespectful and intrusive!!
I have seen three videos so far with this particular rider. He does not give the horse the reassurance he needs. Therefore things escalate quickly hopefully things will be addressed before this poor horse suffers the consequences of all the human’s actions
I get so mad watching these stupid people how they act They think that the rules doesn't include them The fact is they have no respect for police or the guards They need to give them, one change to do what they say after that take them to jail I would to tell the myself
They should not be allowed to stay all day yes its nice to see the horses maybe they have never seen one before the way they act they got no respect for the Kings guards who are trying to work they don't move when asked to do so then can't understand why they get told to get out they must have boring life's to keep walking around all day upsetting these beautiful horses who do not deserve to be treated how they treat them they are rude bad manner Ed as well taking the mick out of the King's guard s they should be ashamed of themselves
