At least at the racetrack the vet is immediately available after a road accident you can wait for an hour or more for a vet to turn up and put the horse down. Last year 68 horses were killed in road accidents 359 horses injured and 12 riders killed. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT.

they can die yes. but they die cuz they enjoy it. they are not physically forced. they can run or not if they didn’t want to. they enjoy running and racing this breed of horse

All that is reported regarding cause of death is "Fell, injured, destroyed". Could have been any manner of things, but it did look more exhaustion than a broken neck, for example.

More likely a broken leg. These horses are so fit and bred to be so light that a fall like that their bones just snap. Also a broken leg in racing is the number one reason for euthanasia because these horses can so highly strung that keeping them on box rest (a smaller box to minimise mobility) will have them climbing the walls. It’s cheaper & more humane to PTS when this happens

They wouldn’t PTS for exhaustion horse would need a week off to regain strength, if he’s ran a few races that week or month then this race that would be the cause of this exhaustion. They are bred for speed, not stamina

​@@julzcarpenter5431 They saved the life of one horse called Mill Reef because he could be bred from. And he was in a hoist/sling contraption but he did recover, but not to be ridden again. And it also depends how bad the break is. Very sad for any horse 🐎 😢

They looked exhausted right from the start of that video. Many stumbles and the track seems in very poor condition as well.

A horse with a loose girth, running scared and panicked is not a sport that people go to watch. This was not done intentionally, it was a freak accident, they happen sometimes, in a fallen world. Horses can be dangerous animals, because they're massive, and especially when something happens and they panic.

No Lap is the solution. Every Horserace is abusing.

Horse racing will sadly go on as long as rich people (breeders, owners and gambling companies) continue to make bags of profit from it. Apparently that is all acceptable. But what isn't acceptable is highlighting the deaths of horses, as I have been walloped with copyright strikes for creating these videos and will likely lose the channel within the next few hours. Such is life!

Barbaric as it is, horse racing is totally about money, as is all the evil in the world....money and laziness (i.e. ways of making money that aren't really 'work'). You tried, & I commend you. As I always say to people, we won't see change in our lifetime but I think it will come......I'd say in maybe 500 years time, things like horse-racing will be no more, & maybe no one will eat meat. That'll come naturally, by 'natural selection' almost rather than through any ethical realisation that say, people like you or I might have. It's hard to explain & think about all this.........but yes, money, & the rich who are still money grabbers are behind so much.

That's natural behaviour in wild horses. And yes most race horses are well looked after, but the moment their racing and winning career is over they are sent for slaughter for meat. And one trainer on the way from the races callously called in to a slaughter house with a couple of horses to be killed.

Horse racing is not directly associated with thoroughbreds. It has been around for ages, and thoroughbreds not only specialize in jumping, but many other less harmful disciplines. They would hopefully go to better homes, and be sold off. Banning horse racing doesn’t put the thoroughbred breed in detriment. It all comes down to cause and association, thoroughbreds aren’t bred only for racing, despite initial intentions.

A horse's only purpose isnt racing you know... They could be pets, trail horses, or still be sport horses but under less dangerous circumstances.

Unfortunately it's not like that. A to. Of horses get destroyed just because they are slower or refuse to race.

They would no longer be bred, simple!

They can be retrained. Despite the difficulties of going through such a process, OTTB’s (Off The Track Thoroughbreds) have become great companions to many if only given the chance of a better life and proper understanding. A horses sole purpose is never confined to one sport.
