I am so impressed with all the enhancements and improvements in vet care over the past few years...getting the vet barn built, adding new and more advanced equipments and now you've get two full-time vets on staff! What a huge accomplishment this has been! Horse Plus has really upped its game.
Any Wilsons in the Big Lick world? I bet you would get harassed even if you bought property, sadly. It’s the nature of where you are. Shame on Tennessee!
Equine laws in Tennessee & the entire nation will eventually change due in large part to Tawnee & Jason's efforts. Keep fighting the good fight guys! Shame on Triple W & their cronies in Cookeville who are perpetuating abuse for profit. I'm so sorry about the loss of sweet little Merrylegs, hoping for the best for Cinder. Congratulations to the lucky people who adopted Fiesta and Black Beauty. I've been gobsmacked in love with Black Beauty since day 1. If I was younger and still had my farm I'd have sent in my adoption application immediately. My last Arabian passed in 2004, and I've become disabled since, so it wasn't to be for me. I'm very happy for the lady who lost her horse to lightning, that she found Black Beauty.
So she wants to buy Black Beauty for her future daughter-in-law to train. Shouldn't said future in-law have come with her to meet BB? See if they connect? Hmmm, makes me truly wonder.
I wonder if a church could be willing to "rent" an area, or parking lot. Especially in winter when they might not be having Saturday events. Getting a bit of income for use of a paved area to help all God's creatures sounds great.
Well those churches are also businesses who get their income from the locals so it's just not likely, no matter if there are suffering animals involved. How about finding a faction that's on the other side from the Sheriff that has political advertising in the auction barn... there has to be another side to the good ol boys around there, someone else they have wronged that isn't afraid to also have their toes stepped on. They have to have property that isn't a business in the community, basically, as that's what has been failing them like the fair grounds, where politics are above and beyond considerations like animal welfare. Ugh, quite a task to find a willing partner in that mess, a partner with some fenced in land.
I loved this episode. So happy to see the adoptions of black beauty and fiesta and smokey the kitten. I felt bad for cinder trapped under the hay bale but I'm glad she's ok. Wonderful that the vets have a new machine to detect diagnosis quicker. Always good stuff happening at HP. Thank you All for all you do to help these wonderful animals ❤
You know . . . When the Auction folk turned you out. I don't think they really thought things thru. Y'all told the story . . . you made it pretty clear that a customer had bought the horse and screwed up his castration, that y'all had bought the horse and put him out of his misery The next week, the auction house tossed you out? Apparently, you telling the story was just too traumatic for them. How traumatic has it been to have the story told EVERY week? They should have just rolled with it. And kept their mouths shut.
I'm confused. I thought Black Beauty was Caspian, Ahl-Teke and Marwari according to DNA. On his paper it said Saddlebred and Fresian. I'm assuming it was never changed on his paperwork? Just wondering. Glad he found a good home.
Prayers for Cinder. Thank you all for all you do. A good farrier is worth their weight in gold. Black beauty should be named GORGEOUS. Congratulations to that new family. 🎉❤
Akhal Tekes are very hot blooded...bred as race horses and not known as easy to handle. He's gorgeous but needs the right kind of trainer and an advanced rider who can give him the workouts he needs. I sure hope the new owner can provide all this. ( I was secretly hoping Horse Plus would make him a mascot.)
@@cb664, They sure can make excellent endurance/athletes! I would have snatched him up myself, but at my age (almost 60) I don't think it wise to take on a green, hot horse. And, it wouldn't be fair to the horse, either.
The way that little girl handled Dusty's head scares me. She just grabbed him, that's so dangerous. I hope her mom watches her very close for a while. :< Glad to see Fiesta and Black Beauty get adopted!
Thank you for podcast earlier love of the hoof is here in my home state i started watching you and found and started watching you frist and found love of the hoof from you.Thank you for all you do
We’re all hopeful you can get things resolved with where you can receive horses for the buyout program. It seems the auction house is going to continue to hold a grudge; they’re not happy with having their dirty laundry hung out to dry for all to see.
Ego, ego, ego - soon to be dissolved with the continued efforts of Houre Plus and a lot of visible public outcry (holding signs with photos for all to see).
I was so uneasy that Black Beauty might not get an amazing home, but what a nice surprise that it was a "meant to be" scenario! The winds of grace sometimes flow so perfectly. To lose a horse named Black Beauty to lightning, and to search and find another at first look may sound a bit unbelievable, but I had a somewhat similar scenario happen a few months ago. Having lost an imported heart dog a decade ago, and gotten a US-bred soul dog that resembled him, but then lost to old age last spring, I decided to look again last fall. The first litter I found was, incredibly, between a sire that had the very rare imported lineage on his side, and my soul dogs lineage on the dam's side. I put a deposit for the possibility that a pup with very specific details might be born. She was born, and is now home and filling the holes that had been left in my heart. So much like both of those former very special dogs, and with her own special spirit as well. So, to the woman who has Black Beauty, he is with you for a reason, and is so lucky to have been found by you. Wishing you much happiness and joy, and good health, and warm bonding with you and your soon to be daughter in law!!
Adopt, don't shop, so many dogs and cats are being euthanized due to no homes. I adopted my heart dog from a shelter and he is such a good dog and so loyal, he was terrified of people at first but all he needed was love.
Thank you volunteers. The love of each person for these animals is so amazing. Thank you for being a beautiful kindness for these animals who need it so much.
I am not sure buying a property would solve the jumping through hoops problem. You might spend a ton of money, and they might still find or make up stuff which you can or can't do on your own piece of land. I have the feeling that public authorities sometimes do that to prevent things getting in their way.
I want the "Who will save us"? song back, PLEASE!!! I know you change songs, but that one is timeless!!! If nothing else please give the actual song name and artist so I can get me a copy for myself. It's a VERY moving anthem!!!
Tawney I have no idea how you keep up with all that goes on there. But somehow you figure it out. Love your staff. Glad that received vegan cupcakes today. They all seem to take a great interest in making all things go smoothly.
You are spot on..the good ole boy network runs towns still..but now they have their dealers licence they should be able to go..the state guys said that the auction could not stop them from going but they're still trying to stop them rescuing ANY horses..look how they got Kory moved off the fairground land even though they'd paid rent and he could only rescue 1 donkey..but the good thing to come out of their ban is the buy out programme because with this they're rescuing double the amount of horses..yes quire a few need the last act of kindness..like the poor mare with no coffin bones in her feet that they had to euthanise straight away as she was in so much pain..this new blood machine has already helped Cinder..!! I get so mad with people criticising when they euthanise horses..they should have crossed over the 🌈 bridge months if not yrs before they found their way to Horse Plus..🇬🇧💕🙏✝️🐎🌈🇺🇸
Horrific, I like Tawney would do what ever it took to save them from the pain being put in slaughter machines alive, look it up I know u r heart will break.❤❤❤❤❤😢
The funny thing is they probably lost money since horse Plus is no longer there to bid it up. That's why they are getting so many buyouts most likely from dealers so their profits are probably down by now
@marieholt9547 Exactly what I said..look at how many they get from the buy ours.. of course people will take them to Horse Plus because they get the money and don't have to pay the commission to the auction house..!! Win Win situation..the auction has definitely lost money from the horses that are now NOT passing through..good..they deserve to..but Tawnee and Jason need to be able to go to the auction to get those horses who are not in good shape..imagine that poor mare who had no coffin bones left in her hoof having to take those long trips to get slaughtered..the pain she was in..ever Dr Lydia was stunned that the painkiller she gave her straight into the vein made absolutely no difference..to decide to give her the last act of kindness there and then tells you how bad this beautiful horse was..it broke my heart 💔
What a uplifting video! Fiesta and Black Beauty have been adopted. New computer, new blood work machines, and vegan cupcakes!!! Life is great at horse Plus Humane Society. 😍😍😍😍
Lucky lady who's adopting Black Beauty. I do wonder how in the world he got into the slaughter pipeline, or if not that, put out for adoption? He's so beautiful and only seven. I think you said on a previous video that he was a mix of akhal teke, marwan, and lusitano? Rare here is the US. Loved this episode. Love seeing how the vet department is growing.
With you being a not for profit, any chance some hero will donate property for a tax deduction? You do such wonderful work and there has to be someone who could be a real hero and help you out.
TO EVERYONE ON THE HORSE SHELTER HEROS ‘TEAM’……..Everyone of you are special…even the ones that are behind the scenes. THANK YOU for coming Tawnee and Jason’s way.
My husband and I ran an electronics repair shop for ten years; blue screen of death = time to invest in a new computer. Just a word of advice, please be sure to back up you data to an external hard drive at least weekly, and store it in a secure place. This can really save your resumption of normal service.
You all have come so far in the last few years. I remember in the beginning when you had fewer buildings and just a few staff. All the employees er so amazing. I am very fond of Kimberly, who has grown so much and has shown all her abilities.
I think they said the farrier was coming the next date so presumably the shoe would be removed then. You really wouldn’t want somebody who is not a farrier to attempt that.
Selfishly I'm sad that I won't see black beauty again, just seeing this wonderful creature lifts my spirits in a way that I wouldn't have thought possible. Wishing him the very best of care and happiness for the future.
Tawnee, would it be possible to do the horse transfering on a privately owned property?? Surely that would be possible at someone's house/farm, as long as they 100%owned the property. I hope someone steps up in your area.🙏🙏🙏❤(Robin)
Hooray for Fiesta, and Black Beauty! Both owners have fantastic new friends to love ❤ Wow, awesome new blood machines! They will help so much. You all are really creating a phenomenal facility for every animal.
❤❤❤So nice to see two horses go to their new, loving, forever homes! That’s what it’s all about!!! Makes me so happy!!! I’ve been watching Fiesta’s recovery and was so happy for her! Black Beauty was so exotic and it’s so nice to see him find a good home! I almost forgot that Smokey the kitty found a forever home! It’s so wonderful that HPHS has two great vets and two amazing new machines for their vet hospital! Keep up the wonderful work HPHS!!! Love your videos!❤❤❤
I am so greatful for the Vets there at Horse Plus. Dr Lydia has been so amazing over the years!!! You are all so amazing! Praying that God grants the animals of Tennessee a blessing and payoff of Tawnees hard work in getting the laws changed (Nationally) for a more humane and acceptable future.God bless you all!!!
Such outstanding wonderful staff ❤I love to see everything going on behind the scenes! I wish I lived in TN, I'd be driving over to help for ever volunteer day. Thank you for all the caring and love you give each and every animal. You are the voice they so desperately needed.
Horses will always find another unique way of getting themselves into trouble- I doubt any other horse has will ever get caste in that same spot! You can’t always predict the next accident- so wonderful to have vets on the case immediately though as a horse can get colic from the panic response. ❤
Good Old Boy mentality in that town. Keep checking. They've had to have peode someone that wants to get even. I wish I owned property there. It would be let the games begin. Good Luck Tawnee. ❤
I wonder if you can train a livestock guardian dog to alert when an animal has got themselves into some danger, like Fiesta or Cinders both getting trapped and injured on HPHS property. Like, they need a Lassie dog to sense or hear something going on and alert the humans to the situation asap. Would take just the right dog and some good training so idk...maybe someday.
Great episode! Love the new equipment for the Vets. To be able to diagnoses back on Cinder so quickly, just wow! Great adoptions too. Just love all the hard work that goes into the editing process to make such beautiful and educational videos!! ❤❤❤😂
I have such a soft spot for Black Beauty, partially because I just LOVED the book so much. I'm so glad he has found a home, although I'll be sad to not see him anymore.
The way to go is to buy a place and you might have to run something to get the funds to get that bit of land because if you have the land they can not tell you to leave your place and if they did you can take them to court
@@susanmatthews5901I’m worried that they don’t actually check these people out??? Cats & dogs just seem to come and go! Sorry but as much care should be taken with cats and dogs as they do horses! But shocking that a horse that was adopted ended back in the slaughter line again??? I know it wasn’t one of theirs, but it’s a worry! Maybe more care needs to be taken with adopting the side animals!
I always love watching your amazing vet team at work! I know nothing of horse health, are there any option for chronic pain management in horse? I was wondering why medication is rarely seen for chronic painful condition in the horses we see. Is it maybe not effective in controlling the pain, too many side effects in horses or cost prohibitive? I would really appreciate if you would take the time to educate us on this! Good luck on the upcoming rescue!
Hi! Another fan of the channel here. As you watch these, and you may want to go back and watch the older ones, they do talk about some of these considerations in many of the videos. Unfortunately, with horses there seem to be a lot of veterinary situations that cannot be resolved in the ways you would for a human body. Some of this is because horses must be on their feet almost all the time. They also have a lot of weight to support. If they have a condition that can be treated with pain meds certainly horse plus will do that and recommend that to new owners. I know many horses take meds for arthritis and do well, for instance. That’s my uneducated bit of info for you. If you can stomach the auction intake videos, they talk about a lot of these situations there. It would be neat if Horse plus did a series on their veterinary channel addressing the common injuries they find which may not seem that bad to casual viewers but would necessitate the last act of kindness. Those videos may be helpful to direct viewers to, as there are often viewers in the comments very upset about the choices to put certain horses down during intakes.
Congrats on the new equipment. I am kind of bummed about Black Beauty leaving as we won't get to see him anymore. hissers look a bit like those East Indian horses.
When you did the blood work up on Black Beauty in a past episode, it showed that he was not a Friesian.... Yet on his card, he is labeled as Friesian/saddlebred. Blooper!
Oh, please don’t tell me you’re gonna put him down now. Every time Lydia comes around she has to say we give them the last act of kindness, freaks me out a little bit. Well if you rescue 50 horses and you put down half of them and that’s what it sounds like it is that doesn’t make me happy either I’m not saying if they’re in pain keep them in pain but it’s like this is wrong is wrong but they’re an older horse so let’s give them the last active kind just because they’re an older horse I don’t I don’t know if I agree is thatif they were younger you try and do something about it and I don’t think that’s quite fair
@@meycoe That's not good though, a cat shouldn't be treated like that. It's very important that the parents do the job with teaching the kids that handling a cat like that is NOT fine.
I love to see adoptions. I am however always a bit concerned when I see people backing away when a horse is a bit pushy. Especially when it is a young one. The horse will learn within seconds that you will let youself be pushed and that can become dangerous in seconds. Just an observation and a small concern for the human.
Hi, they check them out thoroughly through an application process before they’ll even give them an interview. I believe they may also follow up afterwards as well. Maybe every year?
I loved the episode. I'll be praying that you can get the problems of rescuing horses from the auction ironed out. Ya'll do such good work resuing. God Bless you.
I would so go after that fairgrounds for breach of contract Tawnee! This would be a win-win. Win to let other places know they can't bully you out and cost of lawyer, equipment, gas/travel time employee pay, stress compensation package! That money could be set aside in a special account for truck & trailer repairs, employee sick day pay, gas. Then you would not have to take your rescue money away for these things and maybe make people aware that you have rights as a rescue and will not stand to be pushed about for hater groups!!!
Yes, what’s with that? I suspect a lot of people who watch don’t understand how RU-vid works. I believe that every like, every comment, every minute watched and every ad watched helps horse plus. Right?
Yes, the more interaction from its viewers whether it's a like, dislike, subscriptions, comments, hitting the emojis in the chat, all feeds into an algorithm increasing channel visibility it is then recommended to new viewers, increases monetary payouts, etc. @@Groundedsquirrel
The people that own the auction and all the people that support them are evil and disgusting!!! Shame on them. They will pay one day. So glad the buyout program is working so well and congratulations on your blood machines. You guys are truly the best.
If you guys had a contract with the faigrounds and they backed out mid-event: obviously they've never heard of a breech of contract. I dont know if you want to persue it, I can see it causing issuses. I can also see it sending a message that you won't back down and won't be stepped on: supporting the good ol boy network will cost them money...
Hi Tawnee . Love and appreciate all the work you do for these beautiful creatures ❤ I’m always sad for those that need the last act of kindness with dignity , but I have an awkward question. Are they buried at the property or cremated. ❤
I’m not Tawnee but I do know from past videos that they have a crematorium (not sure if that’s exactly what it’s called) I’m not sure what they do next with the remaining ashes. Am curious.
Absolutely wonderful episode! Fiesta and Black Beauty finding their forever homes was so special! Black Beauty really is stunning and I am sure they will have lots of fun with him! Adoptions are always so heartwarming and special. Excited for the new blood machines! As a nurse I know how much of a difference it can make to get fast results.
