100% instructed or influinced ,hard to believe a young jockey would fall foul of so obvious corruption in a sport we bet on merits

Jockey was clearly cheating we are the fools for gambling

Everyone here blaming the apprentice but I can't believe he rode that way on his own volition. That horse could have won the length of the straight but there are also so many more artful ways to stop a horse. It will obviously be looked at long and hard but really not a good watch.

Hope the horse is ok after having his head pulled in for most of the race.

Need to change gambling rules so that backing a horse to lose isn't an option. This one is blatent, but we don't know how many horses are never put in a place to win, how many are 'sent out for the run', how many jockeys are given instructions to give them an easy ride, or whatever. Myself, I don't often blame the jockey - it's bleedingly obvious he's riding to instruction here. There questions is - whose instruction?

I have some sympathy for a young jockey riding to instructions, but that is the sort of ride that resulted in Fred Quilley losing his licence and going to work at Maplins.

Been punting 40 years, seen it all , but that was bad

Needed that for a treble. Watched the race and thought I had it then seen him not even try. Saw that he's received 40 day ban and fuming that the little shit can cost us punters our money. It happens most of the time and I'm glad the BHA are clamping down on it.

Sadly an everyday occurrence in Racing. At least the Stewards took the right action this time. I don't think the horse should be punished perhaps it should be allowed to run for another Trainer. However, the Jockey and Trainer should get a long ban.

You can see the way it's ridden that the horse simply can't win at any cost - he is almost holding it back to make sure it doesn't get any momentum If he was meant to give it a softly softly race out the back then the jockey blew that big time. When it's that obvious you wonder if today was actually the day and they were simply making lots of money on it losing.

It's always gone on but ever since the advent of exchange betting it's become worse. It's common sense that it's a lot easier to make sure a horse doesn't win, than to make sure it does. Wherever there is money to be made, and big money, there will be corruption. Most people would sell their soul for money.

That's the worst I've seen in over 50 years of watching, and betting on the horses, little wonder so many are walking away from the sport.

Jockey was carrying out orders by trainer and owner that's why the horse was stood down. Sympathy with the jockeys who have to do as they are instructed

It's a shame we don't have cameras in the Stewards room, like they sometimes do on tv for a Stewards' inquiry ,for instances like this.The jockey should be made to explain himself to the stewards straight after the race and why he wasn't even trying.If a 'respiratory' noise coming from the horse is an excuse, then there are plenty of vets to verify the jockey's story there and then.Didn't have a bet on the race and i'm glad i didn't.Laying horses in races,like short-selling in the stockmarket, should be banned in my view, as it lends itself to wholesale fraud and corruption.

That's crazy, i work for a bookies in Gibraltar and with out the punters horse racing would be finished... But remember it is a business and a costly one, it's not like football where everyone wants/has to win. They were hoping for a bigger prices next race or for the horse to not be moved up in the ratings. Disgusting and the punishment is even worse.

I backed this and I could not believe what I was seeing. Anyone who backs horses would see what he was doing quite blatantly. Well if he looses his license it’s own fault for cheating I should have walked away with £350 raging.

Hi all I have been watching racing for over 40 years and this is probably one of the worst incidents I’ve seen , please don’t blame the young jockey. He is under instructions not to win. The trainer had the horse fit and ready to win and has acted in a very honourable way post race. Until the authorities sort out proper rewards for winning a race this will continue. The betting patterns tell you all you need to know. Please sort this handicapping system out it’s outdated. Sorry Sir mark prescott.

backed with bookmakers down from 11/1 to 2/1 would have drifted to big prices to lose on the exchanges, then backed to lose hence it then drifted out with the bookies somebody made some decent money i dont believe for one minute the trainer was involved or knew to any of this but the young jockey rode to somebody's instructions and his career in now properly over... just my opinion.

Racing needs an overhaul it needs a huge clean up. It needs a proactive authority on top of the corruption. As it stands racecourses have to put after entertainment on to get the crowds. Watching this is enough to put you off gambling for life.

As a 30 year punter that was the worst I've ever seen lots of people had to of been involved that horse would of won with an extra stone on its back.

Its the most obvious one I've seen for a while.Things like this is why I don't bet anymore.Jockeys and trainers being sponsored by bookmakers and tipsters being sponsored by bookmakers.Everything being dictated by the bookmakers now.

Jockey , stable , and owner should be banned for rest of season , and given final warning of sin die ban , however , if the jokey had been a bit more cute with the ride , the "fixing" wouldnt have been as noticeable. I doubt very much that this is a rare occurrence.
