For the Stage 2.5 setup with optional (but badly needed) rear subframe reinforcements and clutch upgrade is just over $33,200 installed. You can find a decent M3 for around $20k and you'll be rockin'.
so what makes you think its stock clutech? Did you not hear them say they put there Hpf ceramic clutch kit in the car..Btw I believe this is my friends dads car Alvin..no?
@SaucyTuRkLeBiRd off the top of my head i know the aussie model is 252kw which is roughly 340 hp. but also when boosting the power is more dependant on how much air is actually going through the motor rather than just the pressure on the intake. good engines such as this one breathe a lot better than cheaper engines, which in-turn, lowers the intake pressure by "breathing" more quickly. if that makes any sense. air flow is a better measure. in the US they use cubic feet per minute (cfm) i think
By "stock" they mean stock internals. This care is turbo charged, probably stage 2 with 110 octane fuel. However, none of the engine's internal parts have been changed. It's still got the stock pistons, crank, valve train, etc...
@jtq007 really thats interesting? because the north american model US e46 m3 makes 333hp and and 262 tq. the euro model makes 338hp and 269 tq. and the e36 is kinda of a slug making 240hp. I am referring to the exact m3's you previously mentioned.
id like to know what it was like to drive this car. if its bone stock id suggest he upgrade the suspension to a JRZ setup. thats the only suspension i can say was perfect on the M3. its the same set up used on the stage 3 Dinan M3. even with the supercharger it didnt seem that fast off the line to me and it had 423 whp (no intercooler). even though it wasnt the fastest car ive driven it was the most fun around corners. downside...it cost about 96,000
@jtq007 thats ok it happens. as far as a e36 having more tq. thats very uncommon. depending on modifications and tuning its very plausible that it could happen. I just raced a turbo bmw last night needless to say the outcome was not favorable for him lol. people challenge me to run I just cruise
@KeatonsMusic closer to fact, but I mean if you have that kinda cash for a turbo kit, go for it. parts for all german cars are pricey. bmw's tend to lack a bit in tq. can't say I wouldn't mind an autobahn cruiser like an m3 they hold their value well.
@Nettikturbo When your tuning a car with really large injectors you tend to have to raise the idle to compensate for the poor atomization of fuel at low duty cycles on the large injectors. ( not sure what size they are running but I have had to run supra's with 1200cc injectors at around 1k rmp just to clean up the idle even with stock cams cause of the injector size. ) The more you know ;)
@BlackSpades45 For reals? lol....jeeze. If you're serious, let me know and ill tell you what you need. I dont think you're serious though. Do they even make a manifold for that car?!?! This M3 is a beast. I really want to get out of my 04 VW GLI and get into an E46...even a stock one. Great car, great turbo kit, great vid.
M3 wont lose driveability when you working low pressure plus the turbo is a "small" one so yeh everything will be smooth and fine especially if you know what a turbo car is and behave to it accodingly.
I want this car so bad, awsome vid. notmany cars can perform like a bmw. but i dont think they stand a chance against a supra me being a supra owner myself.
i'd say given p/w ratio and how well BMW tune their engines from the factory especially tq. id say mid 11's. ans maybe on a really goooood day a high 10 on slicks. b/c ive seen M3's with CIA,full Exaust and ecu programming run high 12's. mid-low best with like a 25-50 shot
@hooknbookls1 N54, N63 look it up. 450TQ 400HP V8 Twin Turbo on the N63, loving it in my X6, simple trune = 550TQ LOL. N54 wise, 300tq at near 1800rpm, bmw's are a work of art
@hooknbookls1 lol....that was my bad, i double checked the source i was using and they conviently placed the bhp and the tq in unconvient places and the numbers threw me off......but for some reason a e36 m3 that was dyno'ed recently locally had more tq then hp. but anyways, i had misinformation on the e46.
2 generations of ford mustang bloodline kicked right out the door when I drove an M3. I will be shipping my M3 to Portland from Florida real soon to be worked on the by the mad scientists at HPF!
hmm isn't that stock exhaust just restricting the turbo tho? i guess its still fucking fast but could make a big difference... good luck with the stock clutch lasting lol
@adrian29castle By the way, a stock 2004 z06 with street tires (370 hp/tq on a dyno) can run an 11.7x, out of the box. Yeah, 1000 hp and a $30k turbo kit (lol, where is the cost going? tuning? internals? LOL give me a break), can't even beat a stock american sports car. Boy, I'm impressed.
@HorsePowerTwins The problem with these bmws is that they can develop such tremendous power, and go absolutely no where. I've seen 500hp kenne bells absolutely destroy 800+ m3's and m5's. I've got a 550rwhp c5 vette, and I have yet to see a bmw come even close to it. Even full blown slicks on the bimmers just gets them nowhere. There are barely any m3's in the 10's, even with 900+ rwhp and tubbed out. 800+ rwhp get's you in the 9's in any vette, for 1/5 the price.
@adrian29castle No that's not true. I owned a large single MKIV Supra. unless you have cams (which the M3 wont due to Vanos), or something that really slows the velocity of the of the air at idle... OR poor tuning, there is no reason to idle at 1000 rpm.
these cars make alot of power with only 7-10 lbs of boost , engine will last as long as factory with a proper tune, maybe just change the head studs to arp studs thats about it
@hooknbookls1 no stage 2 is 18 pluse 20 for the car thats so thats around 40000 for a 750hp luxury german vehicle haha i got a 04 m3 and bout to get stage 1 its 13000
HEY...I just saw me drive by...hahahahah...and if you were sideways you'd have to turn the wheel to compensate for the rear end stepping out...right??? I never once saw you do that on Airport Way or in 138th just after you came from Marine Drive. WTH???
Nope. its $16k for JUST the turbo kit. Not including all the extras you need to make this car work (Clutch, Exhaust, Intake work, installation). Total price is probably in the mid $20k's.
