Was stationed in Bermuda at NOB Annex in May 70 / 72 for 2 years. Horseshoe Beach was the place to go.

I lived in Bermuda in 1980. The Royal Navy was still at the Dockyard then. Things certainly have changed.

Great video. Very informative with great detail on how to get there from the Dockyard. I'm planning to cruise to Bermuda in July / August 2020. The ship docks in St George and Hamilton. Do you know if they have these mini buses at those ports as well? or is there a better beach to visit closer to those ports?

If you are interested still the airports open back up in July. There are beaches in Dockyard, one to checkout is called Snorkel Park. In this video he refers to it as Hammer Heads.

Just got back from Bermuda yesterday, and Horseshoe Bay Beach was a disaster for me. The winds were so high, you couldn't even put anything down with it blowing away. Fortunately, the rest of the cruise on Royal was fantastic!

I’m also investigating all the transportation opportunities as well. It’s a lil’ overwhelming trying to accomplish as much as you can and be mindful of transportation hours of operation. 😮😊

They charge by the hour I believe at horseshoe so unless you’re planning on spending the day at the beach or for several hours it works out with you overspending.

That beach ain't nothing next to Elbow, Marley, Coral, and especially Warwick Long Beach. Those beaches are out of this world! This is something you'd see in trip to Catalina island.

It is, we have taxes applied to everything imported. The upside being you don’t have to calculate taxes when paying for things. The cost of living is high but that is affected by the ratio of available space and the amount of people that want to move here. 😅

do people sleep on the boat or do they have to rent a room on the island?

whilst the ship is in port over the course or 2 or 3 days, if it has overnights. You can stay onboard and come and go as you please. It up to you. a lot of people go for the day, and come back later in the evening for dinner onboard. Some people might have dinner outside in a local restaurant. No need to stay off the ship at all. I have heard of people getting a hotel for the night off the ship, but its really not cheap to hotel stays in Bermuda. Hope that helps. Russell.

Vincent... I googled it as I was curious. If you were to walk it's 3 hours 22 minutes. Way to far to go in a day. Their is how ever a beach only 10 minutes walk from the ship. You will hear me point it out in the begining.

@@ILikeCruiseShips Its called Snorkel park and we went last time because we had our 4 year old son so it was just easier. Its not the best but its good if you have a kid or kids and you want to or need to get back ti the ship quickly. We are going back to Bermuda in Sept. and are thinking of checking out Horseshoe bay beach. Thanks for the video, very informing.

You can’t walk to horseshoe only snorkel beach. We did both rent a small elec car and see the whole island there a lot of beaches. Check out our Bermuda videos maybe it will help.

No, not at all. Once your their it's a free public beach. You get out of the taxi and the place is yours.

They charge for umbrella and chair rentals. But, if you think about it, that money helps with maintenance and providing comfort for years to come.

Bus ride from cruise ship is $7 to horseshoe. Go see the caves just past it there awesome 😎

The ones too and from the cruise terminal area run the entire time the ship is on port. They know the arrival and departure times of the ships and work during.those times. Making sure everyone gets back to the ship on time.

Depending on traffic, which you can see isn't that much its about 15 to 20 minutes maximum from the pier to the beach its self. Not that far away really.

It was only $5 per person each way. It's sometimes $4 or up to $6 per person depending.on how many you can get in the mini busm

The beach is free. You dont pay to go there. You only pay the bus driver for each way you travel.

Exactly. It's very easy. Just make sure you have saler Bill's to pay as they dont carry much change. Plus you might get a drink or snack at the shop by the beach.

From the pier to the beach is was a oyt 15 minutes. It's very close really. A d coming back there are plenty of shuttles leaving every 10 minutes or so

If you were there in person, especially on a day without as many people, and picked up a handful you’d see pink specs. It’s not neon pink or hot pink but it is visible.

another great place, very close to the pier. only walking distance away as well. for me, i am not a snorkeling kind of person, i know it's called that and you can just goto the beach and chill. but i prefer to get away from the pier when i get off in kings wharf.

You’ve seen the shot at the end of the video and still say that it’s not as blue? Also the locals are treated better in Bermuda and you’re less likely to have people badgering you with knick knacks.
