There is no balancing act in life like trying to do something and look somewhat professional while involving the kids. Good job, Dad! Great video as always.
Honestly, This guys voice fits super well to his face, I really wishes that he does this more often. Because he's even more enjoyable to see and hear, but if it Is to much of an effort than you now its cool, but still GREAT VIDEO, LOVED IT MAN 👍🤝
@@maverick_vet I'd Actually really Appreciate it, thank you so much Mr. Sheldon Tomas, I'm kinda new here but man have I learned alot, No offense but before this channel I never knew horses where this complex, aspecially there feet, or hoefs, or shoes, what can I call them Feet or hoef's? 😁
I loved this video! I enjoyed watching the joy on the kid’s face as he helped daddy open the box. It was fun watching him claim items and then realize they were of no interest to him and “too heavy” and tell daddy he could have his tools back. My kids are in high school. One graduates this year. These years are precious! You will be glad that you did this in later years; as that father son moment will live on indefinitely for you to look back on and enjoy. The horse part was great too, but the kids stole your thunder!
Good to see you Sheldon! I didn't know you had a family. You are very brave for pulling out of the safe and comfortable steady work zone with a growing family, and chasing your dream to be something greater. I don't know if I would have done it. Mad respect brother! I wish you every success.
@@maverick_vet most fathers would have chosen family, work and weekend beers, yet you choose to to go to a vet school instead. Even if your wife is taking good care of the kids, balancing between being a father, doing your job and being a student has to take a great amount of effort. I have to congratulate you for doing something what most guys don't have the mental strength to do. 👍
Just to add a bit, the fact you take the time to teach your boys about what you do is so heartening to see. A lot of people don't get to have that time with their parents for whatever reason be it a hard job or being tired when done with work. But for the kids to learn about the tools you use and see and connect that with you is really cool. Though they are young now it's never too early to put the time in. My dad was a finish carpenter and I didn't know it then, but now I appreciate all the time we spent on jobs sites and how he would teach me about his craft. Now that he's been gone I will always be thankful for those hidden life lessons. Cheers to you and your young family.
"or if your horse isn't so good to your farrier" Even horse parents have to give I'm sorry gifts for their naughty fur kids behavior lol 🤣❤️ Made me laugh so hard
That's the first time I've seen you work and fit a shoe cold, but I guess being away from home and without your regular kit you make do. Enjoy your break from your studies and time spent with your family. 💙🇭🇲 Australia
I loved this video so much. I literally laughed out loud at your boys!! They reminded me of mine when they were little. Enjoy it as long as you can. They grow up fast. Thanks for the info on the Farrier Box. My mares are a handful. I can see a future gift for my very patient farrier!!!
Oh my goodness that’s was amazing thank you for sharing your unboxing with you two adorable sons, I think they enjoyed it as much as you, love watching you shoe a horse so fascinating our very best wishes from Lockdown Reading England 🏴❤️xx
Thanks for the video. Even with your dad's tools, you're still a sculptor. Hopefully if #1 becomes a gold miner, then #2 can become a farrier like his dad. Stay strong and thanks again.
I know this is a old video but your kids crack me up! The one making all the expressions is hilarious. Seeing a RU-vidr and his children makes things feel personal and human. It’s a nice refresher to see.
I love all you videos so much!!!! My family got 16 horses right now and mine favorite is name stitch hes 8 years old quarter horse bay and he smiles!!!
Another comment: I love how pure your videos are. The horses are always like, ranchy, cowy or in need of treatment. Like, Pinto Bean and Dusty and the donkey. I just love how true this feels, as a horse owner its just charming and so nice to see work done on horses that are real workers or just loved pets or just really in need of a good trim. Such a pure channel. This is real life folks!!! Thank you for that sheldon. Its great to see. Keep including anatomy and the horses name and their job. I love it.
i’ve seen your forging skills and you should DEFINITELY try going on forged in fire. it’s one of my favorite shows on netflix to watch. also i used to ride 4H but i never knew how many times i should’ve said thank you to our farrier for all the hard work he did! I’m also from the middle of nowhere in Midland Texas
@@maverick_vet You definitely miss all the shots you don’t take! And i guarantee your wife and little ones would love to see you on TV not just youtube!!
I know what your saying about things can be awkward first use! Just even simple rasp changes can throw ya off, I'm an apprentice and the guy I work under switched up our normal rasp to a Johnson brand and I was not a fan! just couldn't get comfortable using them
I imagine this bubby felt much better when you were done. Good job, I'm betting he appreciated it! Am I correct in guessing this is a fairly old horse? I'm an editing fool...ok so maybe get an old shoe polish bottle with a sponge head washed REALLY well and put the finishing polish in it? It seems pretty runny and would likely come out the apparatus well enough.
Super cute assistants you have. I love the idea of sending this to your favorite farrier for all the great care and kindness they do. What you do is a work of art and is mesmerizing to watch. Thank you for sharing your craft. I’m from the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, east end. God Bless!
just started watching your videos, you are very good.never had a horse with shoes down south but i trimned all my horses and i loved doing it .will fallow you now. thanks for your time.
I love watching your vids as you are so considerate to the animals in your care, but also because you have the nicest voice to match...you could read the phone book and still sound soothing lol! The unboxing was a fun, the new tools looked handy and a happy looking Dusty at the end - perfect! Keep up the great work :)
When you started that 1st foot I was like holy crap that horse has the longest heels when was the last time it was trimmed 😳 and tthen you pull thatgiant mud pack out of it and it lost an inch 😂😂
Great unboxing video, Sheldon. Your boys are the cutest. I love that they abandoned you for a ball and packing peanuts in typical toddler fashion. 😂The close ups at the end of your oldest boy was the true highlight!!🤗🤗
I really like this style of video and it allows you to give ur opinions and thoughts on the use of different types of tools while actually seeing the practical application. and I vote for shirts or coffee cups with the S.S logo on it
Yakima Washington here. Bloody Knuckles is really good stuff. If you order from them a portion of the proceeds go to a charity. If memory serves it's Veterans charities. We order their soaps for my Veteran husband who's a mechanic.
Johnson brand, KIWI Shine and Protect shoe polish is a liquid in a plastic bottle that has a sponge applicator attached so that you can clean your shoes without wastage....maybe the hoof conditioner people could package their product in a similar way so that it doesn't get wasted........
Loved the video. The kids are super cute. Really enjoyed seeing what you got in the box. If you keep your subscription I can’t wait to see what’s in the next one. That finishing rasp did shine up that hoof nicely. Keep up the great work. Than you for sharing with us.
Great videos they have been helpful I started trimming my horses feet and I’m in the high desert so feet are like stone lol. Soaking there a feet a few minutes before I start has helped a bit but it sure isn’t easy. Your boys are adorable glad you had them in your video
oh my gosh all of you are too cute. i find your videos weirdly fascinating and calming 😅 i used to ride when i was young and would have to clean out the horse’s hooves and always found that part fun though tricky (i was a skinny kid so the hoof was heavy!!). anyway your videos bring back those memories of childhood. thanks for your channel! (from the midwest usa btw)
When I saw this video I was like, who the hell is that 😂 Omg it's the knees and the voice and he has baby boys! So adorable 😍 Anyway that was another satisfying horse hoof trimming thank you
Hi Sheldon. As I was watching your video my husband’s best friend called from AZ. What a coincidence. Your kids are beautiful. Kind regards from a frozen and windy southern Canada. 🇨🇦💨
I didn't mind the opening (and your son's are adorable), but the whole reason I subscribed to your channel was that your videos were some of the best the unintentional asmr I had found, and because seeing you work with horses makes me so nostalgic for my childhood growing up in a small town and my own time spent riding. I LIKE the ambient sounds of hammer strikes and the slow pace! That's what made me enjoy your previous videos so much. The nature of your work may be repetitive, but it's the kind of repetitive that absorbs the viewer. It's intriguing and hypnotic. But the structure of this video disrupted all of that. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the commentary, the ads in and of themselves, or that you have a sponsor, but you could have all of those things without diminishing the charm of just being able to get lost in your work. You could do an intro of just yourself to inform your viewers that you have a sponsor, what they do, how great it is, and that you (and your kids!) will give a demonstration at the end of the video. The ads you choose (if you can) could be less intrusive and mellow with minimal music or dialogue. You could use closed captioning to add commentary (and let viewers know to turn it on in the intro), and you could use simple cuts to cut down segments you think are too long (though none of them are!). As for the music, I appreciate that it's mellow, but it would be a shame for it to completely cover up the ambient sounds of you using your tools or other work being done on the ranch. Layering it in slowly and subtly could be nice, though imo still unnecessary. It's still interesting content, but I'll miss the previous format.
