Horwich is a Town in the Northwest of England that was once a thriving railway town thanks to the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway company who built the Locomotive works in 1886 .
British Railways closed the works in 1983 and kept the foundry in operation for a few years with a reduced workforce .
In 2020 the erecting shop was opened for one last time before it will be demolished to make way for a new link road to the new Housing development .
