When I was 36 I was told I needed to have a pacemaker implanted. I decided to share my experiences. In this video I talk about spending the night in the hospital after my surgery.

Thank you so much for all the details you put into the video. My mom had an open heart surgery 2 years ago. And she’s having a pacemaker put in today. I’m sitting in the waiting area right now, finding myself viewing your videos the third/fourth time. It gives me some reassurance that she will be okay! She had pauses at night with the longest being 4.1 seconds. I guess my fear is that the pacemaker will affect her heart in unknown ways. But we finally decided to get it. The unknown is so scary.

Kaitie, I'm sure your mom is out of surgery by now. Getting the pacemaker is ultimately a good thing for your mom, it will help her feel better. It is scary to find out there is a problem with someone's heart, but at least the electrical problem can be fixed with the pacemaker. It may need to be tuned a little in the weeks after the implant, but the doctor can get readings off the pacemaker and get it working best for your mom. I wish you both the best. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

I just had my pacemaker fitted yesterday. Sadly I couldn't have any sedation. However it wasn't the end of the world. I'm glad to hear that you made a good recovery post surgery 🙂

Hi Anthony, I hope you are recovering comfortably. That is rough not having sedation, I hope they gave you plenty of local anesthetics. Get some rest and take it easy as you continue to recover. Thanks for sharing, and let me know how you are doing in a few days.

Sweet of your wife to spend the night with you. Hospitals are not made for sleeping as you found out.

Yes, it was sweet, she was worried. Neither one of us got much sleep that night. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I had my latest heart surgery on Friday 11/4/22. This time I gained two stents in the larger arteries and he stretched open a pre-existing stent that had been installed several years ago for increased blood flow. All went well. I now have 9 stents total, plus the triple bypass and valve repair back in Feb 2000. My pacemaker was installed 4 years ago and it's still running fine. I took it easy this weekend following this most recent surgery, but will be getting on with my life today. I had promised to keep you informed of my status some years back, so here is the latest about me. Keep building and expanding your Halloween decorations. I wish I was closer to help with them, but Central NC is not very close, based on what I can see of your location in your videos. Charley

Hi Charley, thanks for keeping in touch. Glad to hear you are getting on with your life, that’s why we get all these procedures done. Halloween was a lot of fun, but today was the less fun part, taking it all down and putting it away. Thanks for chatting all this time, best wishes!

Did feel a lot better after having the pacer done

It took a lot of worry away. Knowing that if my heart rate got too low or if my heart paused, I had backup. A couple of days after the surgery I felt normal again, I just had to take it easy for 6 weeks and not lift anything with my left arm. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I really like the way u give each n every details. May I know which antibiotics u were on please. My dad was on rocephin for couple of days only. There’s also a robotic voice by 12.28. Your last video also had that

It has been a while, I don't remember exactly what the antibiotic was, but they gave it through the IV line in the hospital.

I had mine replaced . Requested local as I throw up when I wake up. They only give me zofran if I throw up. it took 6 hours & I was on my way home. Never had an arm sling. Had much energy tho.

My surgery area was sensitive for many months, but got a little better each week. After about a year it was back to normal, pain free.

I had my PM surgery in November 2018. I didn’t have to stay overnight.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have heard that many people are released the same day. I guess different hospitals and doctors do things a little differently. I hope you are doing well with your device.

@@CyborgVlog Now I’m having High Blood Pressure. I go for a pacemaker checkup Wednesday and doctor appointments the next 3 weeks. I take a diuretic they doubled the amount for swelling. Also go for an Echo next week and blood work.

I hope the pacemaker check goes well, and the doctors can treat your high blood pressure. I too have high blood pressure that is controlled with medication.

What about the shocks
@CyborgVlog
@CyborgVlog 4 года назад
They don’t feel like shocks of electricity. Your heart just thumps. I notice it a little if I’m awake, but most of my pacing occurs when I’m asleep.

Was it painful?
@CyborgVlog
@CyborgVlog 3 года назад
Not too painful. More like a dull soreness, and a little worse if the muscle gets jostled. For example, riding in a car on a bumpy dirt road was uncomfortable. But if you take it easy, it is not too bad. Feels a little bit better each day.
