It needs refining, and it seems that CIG are serious about having large quest-like events like this in game, which will be good for teams, small Orgs and Orgs in general. Not to mention they do add a bit of life into the System of Stanton. Now IF they can do this around other scenarios, for example, say a natural disaster, or an industrial disaster at a Distribution Centre then you have the bones for regular content that will engage players. Of course, the rewards need to match the value of the time put in to complete the event. Thank you once again, Cit Kate for an interesting and informative video
oh for sure we'll do this all again when it hits live i promise :D get a big group together on the server and take it on . i bet with a bigger group it would be even more fun
Maybe one of the things CIG can do, is mark all enemies that are part of a specific event a unique color. So Xenothreat enemies would be, idk, purple, and enemy players would be red. Otherwise, boarding an enemy ship like that is so cool. Actually had goosebumps when you guys got inside the hanger. I’ve said this before, no matter what happens to Star Citizen as a game, the technology that CIG is developing using Star Citizen as the backdrop is going to be amazing in the future.
I can see this mission will become a patten for random missions of the same nature in the universe. Random assaults by an enemy force that can be Xenothreat or any other faction in the lore.
The boarding scene was poetic!!! You are proving my point and you don't even know it!! SHOTGUNS have arrived.... With today's close combant alterations..shot guns stand face to face with the constant charge .. Don't believe me. Next boarding, bunker charge. Take a shotty.. Preferably Agisis... Get use to the reload timing and rythm...
I think it would be better for a standard colour coding. Green Friendly team, Yellow Players Friendly or Not, White NPC, Red Enemy NPC. Something along those lines would make complete sense. That way you always know when you are encountering a player vs AI. Also a Pleasure to watch you guys. Nice Narration.
The addition of boarding is fantastic. But it seems like overall they need to put XT on the back burner for awhile. The game doesn’t seem to be able to handle the load of the event as of now.
Man, it's events like this that capture what Star Citizen can be. Here's to hoping for dynamic server meshing and optimization saving the day. Imagine this event next year when you have people breaking out their Polarises (Polari?). It'll be very interesting to see what happens!
The backdrop is so cool and they are putting a lot of effort into making the performance better. Being a big fan of this event I hope they get it sorted.
Watching you EVA into an Idris then having a moving fire fight was so exciting! This is just a hint of things to come when using an Idris as a mobile CQB platform! So much fun! I'm sure that planning is well under way for OVO on an Idris... :) Thank you for another exciting video!
This will hopefully be the best pve event yet. Still have some features to add but it keeps getting better(hopefully, looking you “undocumented features”)
I hope you know that it was I that suggested FPS combat boarding of capital ships during events, on Spectrum/Game Ideas. You're welcome! :) Though my suggestion was to make it a requirement during an event. A last hoorah against an enemy Javelin. The mission would be something like disabling the Jav mid-battle from the inside, while forces on the outside kept it busy. It will definitely be something orgs will do against each other once the Idris and Jav are in-game. ~ VanishingIce45
About ships doors being left open... there are keybinds for that. Keybindings; Advanced Keybinds; Vehicles - Cockpit There are keybindings for Open All Doors, Close All Doors and another one to toggle them. I set open all doors to the Insert key. Close all doors is set to Ctrl+Insert. The toggle is nice, but I worry that if one door is open it will close that one while opening the rest.
Hope this goes live soon. Xenothreat's my favourite SC event. Has a lot going on and a good variety of things to do, so it's fun for a lot of players. Boarding the Idris looks awesome! Can't wait to do it.
physicalizing items and cargo is one of the greatest things CIG could have done. your money is now something you have to handle, store and protect. items and cargo becomes something to fight over and to steal. physicalizing items and cargo fundamentally changes the way you play.
it a fleet fight ya gotta engage targets at 500-800 any further out and you will tag a friendly and go red, most pilots are muppets and fire at 2k away. (takes 2 mins for that reset to white)
As a dedicated cargo hauler, I've noticed the increasing popularity of piracy as a gameplay feature. Surprisingly, I don’t mind it-piracy adds an exciting dimension to the game. However, there's a major concern that needs addressing: the unfair advantage pirates have when they attack traders in areas without comm stations. Currently, these attacks often go unpunished, and it's frustrating to be repeatedly ambushed by players this way and not being able to retaliate. To enhance gameplay fairness and balance, I propose an innovative solution: equipping the Cutlass Blue with a 10-20km comm station range. This would allow traders to hire Cutlass Blue pilots for protection. The presence of a Cutlass Blue could enable traders to send out a distress signal with a single button press during an attack, providing a fair chance for assistance. This feature would add a strategic layer for both traders and pirates, where pirates would need to first disable the Cutlass Blue to prevent the distress signal from being sent. Incorporating this idea could significantly improve the gameplay experience. Traders would feel more secure, knowing they have a viable means of calling for help, while pirates would face a more balanced challenge. If the pirates manage to disable the Cutlass Blue, the gameplay reverts to its original state, maintaining the risk and excitement of piracy. This solution not only enhances fairness but also enriches the game’s strategic depth. It's a win-win for both cargo haulers and pirates, fostering a more engaging and dynamic in-game environment. What do you think?
This is what I was hoping it'd be when it first dropped on the PTU. Looks like they fixed a lot of the earlier bugs that caused the server to crash, but the sea of red players still seems to be there. I hope that is solved on Live. Wanted to try boarding the Idris, but we had issues even getting the Javelin to leave dock lol.
Just wait till the Polaris comes out.. I normally play alone but I'm definitely going to have to join an org to get the most out of the Polaris of course
0:34 What is the video issue called that we see here when the turret moves? This happens to me all the time in SC and I'd like to see if I can reduce it.
Boarding the Idris is literally an objective of the Attack on XenoThreat mission now. You just didn't see it because as most of the time the Report for Battle objective didn't complete for you.
Yellow susceptible to damage...😰 have you met ships cargo elevators? That's a game for crazy people. P.s. the most shocking thing about this vid is Kate remembered to drink (and showed it). last time I seen that was the spicy water in Pyro playground.
@Kate, do you ever get the bug in your Terrapin where you can't get out of the pilot seat? Personally, I get that often and it is quite game session breaking as you can imagine.
I have had that bug once or twice so i know exactly what you mean - it usually strikes up on PTU (i've yet to see it in live yet at least) but sadly i have not found a workaround when its happened to me. i've just had to restart which as you say kind of ruins whatever you were doing at the time
Makes me wonder if the components of the idris are repairable, and if she could fly after repairs? That feature is supposed to be in, right. This would make the timing of that feature make total sense.
Kate can you recommend a joystick type if you use one? Im just curious as i used to Box and my hands are not swift with keyboard and mouse and im prepping and trying to up my skills for my drake ironclad assault i pledged for. I like yer content and id love your opinion on joystick brand if you could shed some light. Tyvm
From 17:00 onward it's just pure bad@$$. Attacking the escort fighters and then EVA'ing into the Idris is what separates this game from all the others.
This has been such a buggy event. Seems a coin toss on live whether or not the Idris that spawns is completely invulnerable. Picture a group of 3 corsairs and 4 ares fighters wailing non-stop on one of these things for two hours straight and not making a dent.
at this moment it's impossible to enter the Idris. Many bugs, may lags and the Idris is moving around if it has a bug in his/her underwear.... One time when was in the ship of course "Server Error" if it's live monitored and bugs and all will be fixed in realmode... I don't know, but i never couldn't entering anymore. Vessel keep moving fast and it always moves away from nearby players...
they will leave .1a in ptu indefinitely, whilst the PU is dead in the Water. All problems because of those stupid ass Events. Do them, when you can and not force it.
It looks fun, but honestly.. I find it absolutly insane that even now, 10 years in, and having raised over 700 million dollars, so much is still completely broken, not working and so on..
