Nick Stenson I’ve heard people love working with him and that he’s one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, though since he is a method actor and since a lot of his characters are quite dark, that could come off to some people when they’re working with him on set.

The last scene in this movie is 3min of silence. To be able to go deep into your character as an actor as Christian bale did on the last scene and hold peoples action with your body language is absolutely profound something that cannot be taught. Incredible scene the only other actor I have ever scene do that is tom hanks.

Loved the way this movie was shot, the serenity of nature, right and wrong, action-reaction. Great acting from bale and Rosamund Pike. Glad he got on that damn train😊 However lol yes there's a few good apples in each era but generally then they were all damn rotten and white man embraced that evil once again. A unique tale but the truth outshines fiction.

if someone truly made a movie showing the brutality on both sides....they would also have to give credit to the peacemakers on both sides...and you could only make a movie about one tribe at a time...because every tribe had a different experience with the US Calvary...take the Cherokee for instance, that fought on the side of the Confederacy and took black slaves...interesting history all of it...not to be glossed over ...and many US Calvary officers were both brave, noble and sympathetic to Indians...General Crook was one of them.

Love this film. But three Irritating scenes. 1) Why does his commanding officer in his office allow the hack/ reporter to taunt Bale's charactor ? 2) "They're coming" wasn't well thought out. 'I'll go and slow them down in the open' he thought. 3) why not fight the injuns where the french boy was shot off his horse ?

Kieran W 1 second ago Sorry there was indeed a good film in here trying to get out but it didn't succeed. The shoot-outs especially the first and the one at the camp site were not believable. In the first shoot out the male told his daughter to get away from the door (so she would not get shot) and then his next action was to leave the cover over the cabin and run towards the 6-8 hostiles with his Winchester. Made no sense at all. Compare it with The Searchers cabin scene. The other shoot outs were not how trained (and they were meant to have significant experience in Indian Wars) soldiers would have acted. Trained people would not have used their revolvers in preference to their repeating rifles. The oft told story is the purpose of the revolver is to get you to your rifle. OK if you were stuck with the Springfield single shot then I'd hang on to my revolver but Bale had a Winchester and in .44-40 that would ahve given him something like 13-15 shots versus the 6 from his Colt. In cowboys it's the detail which differentiates the good from the bad (and the ugly).....

This film is supposed to take place in the 1890s. By that time virtually every Plains Indian was confined to a reservation or a prison somewhere, including in Canada. These must be some kind of escaped renegade Comanches on a tear across 4 different states of the West. I'll have to investigate how likely this is. Setting it in the 1880s would be more realistic but you never know. Northern Cheyenne chief Yellow Hawk must have been being punished for taking part in the Battle of the Little Bighorn or several of the other battles surrounding it. Usually they were exiled to almost certain death in Indian Territory, (now Oklahoma), not New Mexico, where they generally perished from the heat and diseases. I guess I'll get the low down when I see the film.

Flawed movie. Could have been great. Many great scenes. But slower than sap. The director, (teen idol looking, cream cheese commercial actor Scott Cooper), felt the need to stuff every single scene with sludgy melodrama. He wrote the script as well. Sometimes it's good. Other times he goes on about apologies and makes mountains out of them. When these were moments where he could have slipped in something edgier, yet still deep. "I'm sorry. You're my friend." "Really? You're MY friend." Oh my gosh. Low key besties forever! So deep. He's not ok with just showing a guy brush his teeth unless he can make the audience cry about it. Could have been a 5 star great for the ages. Instead, it borders on a Hallmark Channel weeper for chicks who eat entire bags of Oreos in one sitting. Way to blow it for your great actors and cinematographer, bimboy.
