I have a Hot Can Self Heating Soup out on a hike at Camp Nelson Kentucky. Hot Can Self Heating Soup comes in different flavors; I review the tomato soup. The soup comes in a special can that contains it's on chemical heating which is activated by pressing on a button on the bottom of the can. It takes about 3 minutes to make a steaming hot soup.
For short hikes or hunting in a tree stand where building a fire or using a stove isn't convenient, Hot Can makes for a good option. However, for trips where you will need to bring enough food for many meals, Hot Can Soups will be heavy compared to alternatives.

I tried selling them in my place of business and the problem was the retail price. Most customers balked the cost. Since I could not get them in large shipments, the profit margin was very low. And the exp. date was short. I liked them. :)

Dollar Tree had a coffee and hot chocolate. Coffee has that freeze dried taste but it's good in a pinch.

it works because of an endothermic reaction between water and quicklime (I think) you just speeded up the reaction by pouring more water in it.

Sorry to hear that. I have noticed that I have to make sure that I press hard on the "button" on these cans. If I don't, they won't work till I do.

It does get rlly hot and they do work I wish I would have pushed harder when I had them I didn't push hard the 1st Time so I decided to look up the site and found this vid I then tried it once the can was empty and it did work now I know for next time and it does taste great!

Those buttons are not easy to push! It's a great idea, but they are frustrating! I tried the cocoa and chicken soup. The cocoa was pretty good (though Swiss Miss is better), but the chicken soup wasn't so great.

You said water and Lime? So if you carry some Lime into the bush and mix it with water it can act as a catalyst? (I know you mean powdered Lime.. the chemical)

coffee is ok but not much in the can ? thiers thick paste in the bottom can after drinking that's not right ?

My son and I bought a hot cocoa one at Academy for 1.49 and tried it yesterday and did our review...I laughed when I saw you mashing the bottom like we did...I was expecting it to pop or something. I'm ashamed to say we didn't realize ours was a little over a month out of date until AFTER we tasted it...yuck! I love the concept so we will buy it again and give it another try! =}

Camp Nelson, By Ky river?? South of Lexington. Been years since I was there, dad took me there. below the bridge, long and winding road, what do they call the place, country music festivals held there now?? Know the cemetery on top, but, trying to remember lower road from, years past, live in Somerset now.

I tried the cocoa, and it was gross. Had a chemical-like taste to it. My bf didn't think it was palatable either. Maybe I got a bad one? I got mine from the Dollar Store. I wonder about how good the packaging is for the environment.

the only problem i see with this product is weight unless your just a business guy on the go or a kid that needs a snack on the way to school its too much weight for backpacking MAYBE as a treat like 1-2 cans bit weight will ad up fast
