Brings back some great memories. Best song at the club (Disco) from back in my day. The music was hot the girls were hotter and everyone just got along and had fun.
@@kevinhaylett I've been trying to get some of these guys to listen to a group, well really an organization called Plying For Change. With a song like The Weight. Go give them a like. They help underprivileged kids around the world. Let me know what you think.
@@mikecaetano I’m with yah, and the disco ball was spinning. This was released in 1978, those were the best days of my life. Got married the following year.
I Remember a time in the 70s when my best friend had a girlfriend from Ghana, we had some good parties that time with friends from Ghana, they loved Hot Chocolate, we never thought of black or white, only had a good time together. Greetings from Germany
Errol Brown once re-recorded a John Lennon song and sent the tape to him. John was so impressed, he helped get the group a recording contract with his label
Origin: West Hampstead, London. Had at least one hit every year 1970 to 1984. Much loved Errol Brown, 71, died of liver cancer in the Bahamas. The band had hits in over 50 countries.
Hot Chocolate - another group from the 70s/80s we took for granted. They had hit after hit and it's only now we can see how great they were. Rip Errol Brown.
@@teddyritola2655 Mate, you do know that Hot Chocolate are a UK band, don't you? If so, a cursory look at their Wikipedia page will tell you that they had 7 Top Twenty hits in the UK during the 1980s. Not everything's about America you know.
Okay, as soon as I saw the title I was like "How many seconds before he makes the face, then how many after that before the chair gets pushed back". Did not disappoint! :D Great song choice.
Hey Jamel! A great example of British/Euro funk & soul from the 70's. This song is a drop dead, never - fail classic. Like you said, you can't help but groove to it! ☮ out, Jamel!
5:32 "What is this...the SEVENTIES, right?" To the most seventies song ever written. Haha! Glad you got to enjoy this and share it with the class. One of the all time greats!
OMG my childhood, when they played Hot Chocolate, Paul McCartney, Chicago, America, the Commodores, etc all on the same radio station, so there was no need to search, it was ALL there. There's a Scottish band called "Scotch Chocolate" who sing a version of this that is hilarious and pretty darn good at the same time
Errol Brown was the coolest guy, they have loads of hits for you to do. Massive band in UK though to end of the 80’s Check them out some more! Please!!!!
I love this song. British band. They wrote and released the original version of Brother Louie, which you reacted to a long time ago by Stories. Errol Brown, The lead singer has such an interesting voice. You probably know “You Sexy Thing”.
You should check out some of the Isley Brothers jamz from the 70’s.. I’ve never researched it or anything, but I know that groovy sound! I know you’ve heard “Who’s That Lady?”, by the Isleys.. they used in one of those swiffer ads where the housewife is breaking up with her mop.
Oh you must do Brother Louis about a black n white relationship with both sides' parents wading in; they were HUGE in the UK and no, you could not resist dancing to this band. Oh and Emmeline and the one about aliens and flying saucers! Love ya. x
When I was a kid, other kids were listening to teenie bopper songs from the 80s/90s, but my mom showed us all of these greats on 45s. This was one of her favorite songs.
How could you not do Hot Chocolate “Sexy Thing” (I Believe in Miracles) first?!?? You HAVE TO DO IT!! (of course then I will have to think of Full Monty 😂)
Hot Chocolate was an amazing group. This tune is timeless, it bridged the gap between Disco, Soul, Funk,, Rock and Pop like no one else. And that riff is still amazing. Then add the brass, the backup singers, and the hard hitting bass and you have a masterpiece. Easily one of the best songs of all time.
Hey Jamel- how about you do “you sexy thing” by them too?! They also have a good one called “Emma!” Another great! And another HIT groove I grew up on is by Yarborough & Peoples “Don’t stop the music!” It’s also a must..Pleease, Please! ❤️👍✌️
“You don’t really wanna stop.. Nooooooo”. Thanks for dropping that one on here.. one of my favorite Jamz, right there with “Juicy Fruit”, among many others..
The late, GREAT Errol Brown. What a singer, what a man. One of the greatest songs of all time, the guitar riff and Errol’s unmistakable vocals make it so. So very sadly missed.
It saddens me when I hear what passes for music these days. Nothing better than a band playing instruments with an awesome lead singer, a funky beat, and great lyrics.
The back up singers AND the horn section were amazing.... great dancing song; me and the wife would disco to this song every Friday night... great memories!
Fun Fact: The Beatles discovered them and signed them first to their record company Apple Records. The Beatles broke up and along with James Taylor and them, had to jump ship. Both had success in their own way. Rock soul funk!
From time to time I used to walk a half a block to my local hamburger stand, order, then start the outdoor jukebox and repeatedly play this song until I left. It was always a good experience.
I squealed when I saw this notification! I 💘 this song! It's one of my happy songs. When I'm feeling down or agitated, I turn this up. You cannot help but smile and move when this is playing.
Errol and the guys were fantastic! I remember my mum seeing him in a pub in Highgate, London around 1978 and going crazy for him, I was about 10 years old! A tit bit for you is that it was Bob Marley who got him his start when he introduced him to his producer in London. These were the best times ever! Thanks for memories Baby X
Jamel I was only thinking of this track for You too react to the other day . The lead singer Mr Errol Brown ( sadly passed ) came from and lived in my home City of Birmingham UK . Thanks Jamel
You realise you are the cool uncle now Jamel? People thinking ... "damn, check out Jamel with his cool outfit, the moves, the rhythm". That's you right there.
Jamel love your reaction, Hot Chocolate were a big chart band in the UK in the 70's/80's, the backing singers were called The Ladybirds and did all the big hits at the time.
I was in 8th grade and roller skating.......or should I say trying to not fall off of my roller skates, when this came out! What great memories, thanks for reviewing this fun song!!
You might want to check out a band called: "Cake' doing a song called 'Short Skirt Long Jacket'! The video is basically the 1st reaction video ever made before RU-vid was a thing!
Requesting Sexy Thing, Miracles & Brother Loui, which was also released at the same time by the American group Stories. Hot Chocolate is a British group.
I LOVE the reaction on your face! This is exactly what this song did for me back in the late 70's. I was just 11, and I went out and purchased the single with my hard-earned pocket money and played the record to death. Here in Britain it was really hard to get to see and hear American-sounding pop/soul/R&B records on British TV/Radio. There was Diana Ross and Donna Summer but that was essentially it. 'Every 1's a winner' made Errol Brown a British soul superstar. Well deserved Errol!
As long as he reads the lyrics to Miracles when he does it.. and it should definitely be the studio version. Miracles is probably one of the most forwardly sexy and passionate songs ever recorded. Absolutely irresistible.. I’d venture to guess that a lot of kids born in the 70’s were conceived to that song.
