These Talkartoons are really incredible. Bimbo whistles a note that butt slaps the girl, and that car seems lile it is in a sexual frenzy, including humping the street, and the musical number was great. Whoever was coming up with the story ideas for these was a cartoon genius, and they were executed with amazing flair. These Talkartoons are, despite all that singing in them, the unsung masterpieces of the early Theatrical (Golden) Age of cartoons. How can they possibly be so little known?
You are watching the prototype to all the Betty Boop and Bimbo cartoons to follow from 1930-34 before the censors got hold of everything. From the girl in the car with hints of Betty to the Cab Calloway moves by the cop and finger lickin' jury to a 30s jazz tune to the spilled water pouring into the hearing tube and out the listeners ear. This is the hip, club based, anarchistic, surrealistic world created by the Fleischers in this series. See Dizzy Dishes and Swing You Sinners next.
@cha5 Betty Boop would Later become a Bigger Star than Bimbo. In 1933 Popeye the Sailor made His Debut on a Betty Boop Cartoon & He became a Bigger Star than Betty Boop. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁

Thanks for the tip! I know that Fleisher used 78 RPMs for songs in their early Talkartoons. But I thought the song was recorded for this cartoon. Thanks! Also, I reconized the tune from the Mickey Mouse cartoon, "Blue Rhythm".
I appreciate this because the main character (Bimbo the dog) has been a famous icon of Fleischer cartoons and a (Golden) Age of animation 'til 1933 when "Talkartoons" was known as "Betty Boop Cartoons." B.T.W. Why Bimbo had to explain to the judge is because Bimbo was driving over the speed limit not by taking a girl off the sidewalk and "insulting" her.
Does anyone know what the gesture of running the thumb down the extended tongue is supposed to mean? It shows up in a number of Fleischer cartoons including Swing you Sinners...does it have a specific meaning?
This cartoon is beautiful but why animals are always the main characters and the humans are just there to put their thumbs on their tongue and slap butts
Actually the reason why the title is Hot Dog is because Bimbo attempted to gain a girlfriend the title is meant to show Bimbo’s delight when he finds another girl because Hot Dog in North America means “an expression of delight”
