You can never buy these shared best practices on any online leather crafting courses. These best practices were totally based on the artisan's experience, cannot be found on any fundamentals. Much appreciated Geordie! 🙏
really enjoyed the video, is there any chance you'd be able to make a video showing the process of balancing the plate on this machine? I have one and I'm really struggle to get the plate perfectly flat.
Havent got a press yet, so was looking through RU-vid and came across this, First class tutorial, some first class tips like ....ensuring that you get sets from the same manufacture, the gigs i like. i can see i have saved money already my not making mistakes that i most defiantly would have.
Thanks for an amazing tutorial, it has inspired me to buy one! Does anyone know what size screw in rod I should get for the dies to fit the U slot of the machine? I have measured the width of it and it is exactly 5mm, so should I get a 4mm screw or will a 5mm one fit?
This guy reminds me of Rowan Atkinson, his expressions, his tonation, everything but yet again, he sure is a good teacher, such amazing content and sharing. Wonderful work.
Hello Geordie! Thank you for the inspirational video! What size press board do you use? Maybe you already said it in the video, but I'm just asking because my English is not that good. Looking forward to your reply! Have a nice day!
Thank you!! I was looking all over the place for a demonstration of a good way to align the letters consistently. Your template trick is brilliant! I’ll have to get my hands on some of that mounting board
Hi Geordie ! Great video !! The way you explain is so clear !!! I bought one of these machines but I’m having trouble to stamp on textured or embossed leather, do you have any suggestion? Thank you !!!
Hi. It sounds like you may not be applying enough pressure. As I say in the video - You need to experiment on some scraps of the leather in your project and try different temperatures, time and amount of pressure applied. I hope this helps.
Hi. You usually buy your letter set and the letter holder from the same supplier at the same time. But check that the holder will fit your machine. Some machines have a bolt on system, others don't.
Thanks so much for this. It helped me immensely to get started with mine! Some additional tips for those getting started: - Ask whoever you're buying your brass set from to drill a threaded M4 (4mm) hole in the centre of the T-slot holder that comes with any new lettering set - Also make sure you have a threaded M4 bar / rod that's 3-4cm long to fix the T-slot holder in place on the machine, as shown in the video. Most I found on eBay were 5cm long and I had to cut off the excess with a hacksaw. An M4 rod (4mm wide) fits perfectly in the U-slot that the machine has in the heating plate. I think an M5 would fit as well, but probably quite snugly. Don't forget to buy a washer and a wing nut to tighten too!
Beautiful work Geordie, you've got yourself another subscriber to say the least! I can't wait to get started with leather craft and you are the first channel I've found that actually explains every step and makes me feel confident in wanting to try it out
Hi Geordie, As a beginner to leather craft, I was fortunate to have ordered one, it actually arrived today! I was looking for a tip tutorial and there you were! The heat temperature vs pressure is tricky, but your explanation was brilliant. Im excited.. Thank you again. Blessings. Dean @earth.craft.leather.goods
Aloha from Hawaii! Really appreciate this video. I just purchased a similar machine(same company), and the instruction manual was lacking in thorough instruction. Your tutorial brought me up to speed. Loved the positioning jig too. Mahalo and God Bless You and Yours.
Hi. Do you have tips on removing high temperature tape residue from the the aluminium heat plate? I managed to remove the copper die by setting the temperature to 300°C, however some residue remained on the plate. Thank you.
Hi, thank you so much for your very helpful video. Could you tell me where I can get a set of brass alphabet stamps for this machine please. Many thanks Chris Harker

My plate shifts -Up and Down, so it’s not stamping correctly. The back part stamps fine but the front of the stamp barely appears. I already tried adjusting the bolts, per your instructions, to no avail. How do I adjust the entire plate? Suggestions?? Thanks I ave the WT-90DS
Hi. If all eight nuts are tight and the plate is moving when you press down, then there may be a fault with the machine. OR, there is a small bolt on the right of the press that tightens the ram. Try adjusting that.

I was thinking of buying a basic hot foil stamping machine and came across your video while looking for recommendations on youtube. This was so helpful. Especially the last part about the stamping templates. Thank you so much!!!
Hi! Very informative tutorial, thank you! I was wondering if you can help me to find to buy/order Letter Stamp Set with fast delivery? Thank you in advance.
Hello, great video. I use several brass stamps but none have the bolt attachment or thread. Is there another way to fix the brass stamp to the unit? Thanks
Great tutorial!Do you think there is any terms of quality difference between this machine and high profile ones like dreamworks that cost around 1000 dollars?
Hi. Like all things in life - You get what you pay for. The cheap machine will do everything the more expensive ones can but require more setting up. As for the build quality - there isn't a big difference.
Very nice detailed tutorial, thanks! Do you have 5x7, 7x9 or 10x13cm version of the machine? Do you think 5x7cm version is enough to use with letter holders to make mostly two letter initials even if the brass holder is long? Letters holders I often see with M5 thread are 10cm long.
Hi Geordie, Great tutorial on the hot foil stamping machine. I checked out the letter set on Ali express, price seems very reasonable, compared to some. On the sellers site, it states that the letters are 6mm high? Then if you scroll further down it shows a diagram/photo stating that the letter is 15mm high? While I doubt the latter, the former, 6mm would seem a bit small. Indeed the letters didn’t look that small in your hands. Is this a “Chinese 6mm”? Although the price is very good, I don’t want to waste money by getting the order wrong. TIA 😁👍
Hi. 6mm is the normal size. My sets are all 6mm. But I suggest you contact the seller before you order them just to make sure they are exactly right for your needs.
@geordieleather Hot foil Saffiano leather issues? so I’m using my hot foil machine with a custom stamp but when I put it on the saffiano leather the detail is not showing nicely it’s messy and not clean it’s not even peeling of correctly currently I have it set to 200 degrees F and I press it for 10 seconds I’m trying to trouble shoot what could be wrong could it be the foil? Love to hear your ideas or suggestions
Hi. It sounds like you have it too hot and too long a press time. Try reducing both. In the video, I have a temp of 100 and a press time of 1 second. You just need to experiment with different temps and times.
Very useful how to video although I'd buy a British made machine for much more accuracy than that Chinese import. Even a second hand machine is better.
Hello. Yes you can but, as I say in the video, there are no set times/temperatures - Every leather or material is different. You need to test in on the material you are using.
Geordie could you tell me what size the letters are in the stamps that you use please. They look like the perfect size. Also Where could I purchase them from.Thankyou
infrared thermometer have problems to accurate measure shiny metal surfaces so your measured temperature can be off, try to measure it with something else, like boiling point of water

Thanks for the amazing video! It was super helpful.. A curious question.. Can we use this machine to sublimate a photo on metallic surface, like photo keyrings?
Really enjoyed this video. You're brilliant at explaining things. Your presenting skills are fantastic, it felt like you are giving a one to one lesson. Thanks very much for sharing your skills and knowledge. 👍🏻
Hello Geordi Thank you for the tutorial. Im Starting in the world of personalization and i dont know how to make the guide for a phone case in order to always have the letters in the same spot

Thanks for the wonderful video. I was considering buying the same but I was wondering whether it is still working nice for you. Has anything changed in the functionality of it during this year that you use it? Do you still recommend it? Thanks in advance.

Such a great tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to offer so much detail. I'm new to leatherwork and this information was so very helpful. I can't wait to watch more of your videos!
Thank You for taking the time and effort of making and sharing Your knowledge this way. It is in my opinion creators like You (and equally generous souls) that makes RU-vid worth while. Best regards.
So glad I found this video! Thank you for sharing your jig making process, I bought the stamping machine but had a difficult time lining up the text. I will now be able make a jig using your technique. Thanks again Sir, also subscribing to your channel.
Thanks so much Geordie for this incredibly helpful video! I know that you order your copper moulds from Aliexpress, but I need one in a hurry, do you know anywhere in the UK that makes them? Thanks so much!
Hi Geordie Nice to see someone talking about there skills and there illnesses, you are great at explaining the tips of your craft, I myself have to self isolate as iam CEV and your videos on leather craft along with the clear tuition keep me on the go. Thanks and keep it up.
Hello. Thanks for the positive comment. I too am shielding, so I know where you are coming from. Take care and stay safe and hopefully the long-awaited vaccine will bring us all to the end to this awful situation.
Hi Geordie. Thanks so much for this. I hope you’re well and had your vaccine by now. I’m into bookbinding, looking to put titles on the book spine. I’m tempted by one of these machines, but not sure which size to buy. The link you give shows they do 3 sizes. Are they measuring the hot plate or the base? I’m thinking it’s the heated plate you screw the die into? I’m thinking the smallest one would struggle to maintain the heat on a long text holder, and maybe that’s for small logos? And about size - Any idea who much space I can have behind the stamp, ie from the top of my lettering to the top edge of my book’s cover? I suppose the small one is not going to have much room back there? Thank you ETA. I’ve been crawling all over pictures of these and I think there’s enough space for me to stamp a book spine without having to have the print to close to the top, so now my question, please, is: Which size did you buy, so you can use that long block for the text? 8 x 10? Some of these I’ve seen, the smallest 5 x7 has no screw hole, you use tape to stick the die on, and the largest doesn’t have a slot, but a single round hole, which I don’t want, so I hope the answer is 8 x 10! Thanks
Hi. The size stated is usually the base. Yes, you screw the die to the heating plate. On mine, the distance from the centre of the plate to the back is 4" (10cm). If you require more detailed information, please contact the supplier. Thanks.
Thank you, thank you, thank. I have exactly the same machine and I have struggled and dreaded the stamping process…hardest time getting things lined up. Your jig idea is absolutely genius! Two thumbs up 👍🏾. And a new subscriber. Thank you 🙏🏾
Hey Geordie thank you for sharing this incredible work..may Might lord continue bless your business forever....watching from uganda....I would like to know the actual price of that machine.....and ll they ship it for me to my country??
@@HobbyBloxs Oh yeah right, its between de links, sorry! All from alli express I see, I'm a bit scared to order there. But it seems you have confidence and good result from there! Anyway, keep up the good work :)

Hello, Thank you for your videos. I am learning a lot from them. I have clicked on the links you have given but I am unsure what size to purchase. I would like to stamp letters onto the keyrings like you have done in the video however, I am unsure of which size machine to start with. I need to purchase the machine and letters so I thought it would be easier to purchase your recommendations so they work together. If you could let me know what size you have in the video I will purchase that one. Many thanks.
Hi. the 5" x 7" is the size of the base. the 5cm x 7cm is the size of the heating plate. Buy the size of heating plate that you need for your own needs. The bigger the heating plate, the bigger printing area.
Thank you so much for posting this. I really enjoyed watching. You shared a ton of useful tips that I will definitely be making note of. Hope you've been well during this pandemic, much love from Canada!!
Brilliant, well put together video with excellent advice that can only be gained by experience. I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to share your knowledge with us! I've only recently come across your channel while I was looking at how an arbor press can be used in leather work and what a surprise I got when I found you, so many helpful ideas! I'm now looking into getting a Hot Foil Machine and value the information that you have shared with us here, it will be so helpful. Thank you so, so much. I wish you well, Thea
Hi Geordie, your videos are great. I can't find the links for where you get the letters for this machine, also do you know where I can buy ready made dies for this machine. I would like Tree of life, Ichthus or bumble bee image etc. Just something to play with and learn, I don't need custom make. Thank you.
Hello Robert. All the links are in the description below the video. Here's the link to the suppliers for the brass letters: ali.ski/CiWshB You will find the other items you need from the same site. Thanks.

Hi Geordie, just stumbled upon your video and loved it. I have been looking at foil stamping for a bit and was going to purchase a much more expensive one but not sure at all it is worth it. One question though, do you HAVE to put the stamp at the back of the screw hole or is it possible to keep it at the front, where it is much easier to see what you are doing when stamping? Or maybe the heating plate would not heat evenly at the front? Thank you for the video
Hi. You can put the stamp anywhere on the heating plate. I just suggest always using the same location if you are using an alignment jig, as shown in the video, otherwise your stamp won't line up properly with the jig.
You. Are. Beyond. Precious! Love everything about your presentation. Now I feel bad about my shop. 😬😂Yours is so crazy clean and well organized. Wow! What a gem you are. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks. Hugs from California.
Great tutorial! I pull them all out and spell it first, then put them in backward so I don’t miss any letters. It also “guarantees” I have the letters right side up (thicker part at the bottom) as you explained.
Hi Mike. It depends on the type of keyring you are making. If it's a single layer - like a key strap, I'd say about 3-4mm. If it's a fold-over type, like a key fob, I'd say 1-2mm. Hope that helps.
Hi Geordie, thanks for the tutorial and info. I am curious about the letters stamp holder you have. I bought individual letters and would like a good storage system for them. Can you share if and how you made it?
@@HobbyBloxs good Idea, Thanks. I'll give it a try. Maybe you can do a tutorial on Brass letter stamp storage. I did a search and couldn't find any. The wooden box on Aliexpress wouldn't hold 2 or 3 alphabet set.
Geordie thank you so much! You are brilliant! You've explained it very well! I just ordered mine from Aliexpress and I'm quite intimidated by it. But thanks to you! More power and hope to see more videos from you 👏👏👏
This was one of the best videos I have watched in really long time and I do watch a lot of them. Thank you very much. Except the fact you can explain well. Your personality us amazing.

Amazing tutorial! I had never heard of hot foiling so I asked Cousin Google who gave me a YT link to Uncle Geordie. Now I can set up a die for the WT-90AS Foil Stamping Macine to accurately stamp personalized leather key rings! #Winning
