This week, we look at a mess of corporate drama in artificial intelligence. Stability AI has announced that its founder and C.E.O., Emad Mostaque, is leaving the company. Meanwhile, Microsoft hired away two of the co-founders and much of the staff of Inflection, without actually acquiring the company itself. Both moves surprised tech insiders. Then, we talked with listeners who had something to say about our interview with Jonathan Haidt on smartphones, social media and young people. And finally, we examine the true motives behind “Shrimp Jesus” and other hugely popular images on social media that were generated with artificial intelligence.
Today’s guests:
Jordan Lucero, a high school student
Maya Rayle, a graduate student
Jack Campbell, a college student
Brendan Kelley, a high school digital coach

The interviews with the teens are just showing me that the Flynn effect is alive and well. Each brighter and more insightful than most of us were at that age in my generation (millennial).

I think you misinterpreted the Flynn effect. Or maybe you actually believe our grandparents would on average be classified as borderline mentally disabled today. Also, the Flynn effect has reversed recently according to studies.

When it comes to education, I think there are two kinds of careless parents, 1) just being completely careless, or 2) being brutal to show their care. Either way, it's because they don't care much enough to spend extra time and energy to do it more subtly - being patient and supportive and guiding. Thus, the 1st go-to is to be those absent figures, who don't even bother to fake a care, and the 2nd go-to is to set up "laws": don't you dare do that, don't you dare not do that… The same scenario here, first of all, I appreciate that Jonathan is caring at least, however, he proposed a very convenient way - setting up "laws". I wonder how a 14th birthday can be this silver lining, where the day before it, people are not allowed to access social media because they will be poisoned, but 2 days later, all of a sudden, they are allowed to! Is it because this day gives them immunity? Or is it because this day gives sb's conscience a getaway - I have done my best to ban you, you are on your own now, kid :)

I have experienced the Facebook AI generated recommended content phenomenon. I get tiny house interiors lol.
