I saw one of the first female stunt pilots in the business flying in several airshows around the Pacific Northwest. I first saw her in the mid 1970's flying a Citabria. She also flew a souped up biplane and a clipped wing Super Cub. She was a commercial pilot for United Airlines. She passed away at age 71 in March of 2017. Her name was Joann Osterud.

Very little information about her is available, which I find curious: Does she hold a US passport? What is the real story about her coming to the US? There must be childhood friends and family who could corroborate the rumors, but interestingly there are almost no information about her background and how she got involved with Epstein - just the same half rumor-like story repeated over and over again. The camera cuts away from her often to hide it, but the first time he "gives her control" and she does the first roll, she's staring right at him 2:17 He is flying that plane still, and he looks right into the camera before she tells him it's there, so either not hidden, or he's completely in on it from the start

I'm shocked and saddened by reading about this woman being a J Epstein accomplice. But what about the instructor? He was pretty cool, and handled teh whole situation with patience and empathy. Many would have gotten angry with her for not paying attention in the classroom. "My dear" was the most disdainful he got, when she deserved all the disdain in the world. He recognized talent when he saw it. He made the best of the situation throughout the whole prank as it unfolded.
