26 years as a skater and hundreds of hot pockets later and I'm barely finding out what a hot pocket actually is. 😂 Cool shit bro. We don't get enough coverage for these kinds of things and our bodies take a beating. Appreciate the education on this.

These happen to me all the time, and I just found it was a called a hot pocket. I’m excited to start your program and hope to finally be able to skate without being worried about injuring my ankles

Thanks for this! Was wondering what this pain was :]. I usually get it on landing heels or kicks, but when it's particular bad I can even get it on a fakie big spin or something. It seems to lessen after it 'pinching' a few times at the beginning of a session, but I always try to 'endure through it' because I really wanna skate. This will be super helpful,. thank you.

Thanks for putting this video together! I've been working with a physio for anterior ankle impingement for 5 months now (doing ankle strength and mobility exercises every day or every second day) and it's gotten worse all through that period - left ankle constantly aches now and i've basically given up on trick skating as every time i do anything other than cruise i strain it worse. have tried giving it a 2 week rest as well with no skating or exercises and it still ached. anyway physio has run out of ideas so i will try your exercises which are a bit different from theirs. encouraging comments below so hopefully can work for me too

no change unfortunately :( multiple physios and months of rehab for no improvement. had to give up trick skating. but i know there's something out there that can help me, and everyone is different. will let you know if i ever figure it out @@cykablyat8862

over the past 2 years I've really been continuously fucking up my left ankle didn't know about hot pocket term until just today and yea got a huge lump on left ankle, gonna rewatch this and other vids now I know the problem and try fix my shit, hot pockets really fuck up the motivation to skate

Depends if you currently have irritation mate? Is it currently flared up and are you currently in some sort of pain?

@@skateboardstrength9834 No bro, I can walk, jump (without skate) and run with free of pain, only when I land a trick with certain degree in my ankle, that moment is when it hurts...

@@alexfabricio7964 then you should be fine to squat mate as long as you don’t get pain or discomfort when you do it. The front foot elevated split squat can also be loaded as well mate and that will be a good replacement for the squat.

Hi, quick question- is it normal for the area around the ankle joint to feel a bit tired after doing the mobility ball roll exercise? And when you say "where it feels gnarly" do you mean the foot position where we feel pain while doing the exercise? Thanks

Hey @Skateboard Strength! Thanks for the video! I have a related question and haven't been able to find any info to help me. I hurt myself doing the "opposite" of a hot pocket, like hot pocket but toe side if that makes sense. So I landed with my toes hanging and was too stiff (I'm beginner, first time ollying off a block), and my front foot extended so much under the pressure (imagine heel on the board, toes going under the level of the board) that now the top half of my foot feels sore. In a way it's the opposite of what you showed with the skeleton, instead of flexing it hard, you would extend it hard. Does that have any technical name so I can find some help more easily?

Can you help me out. I'm 41 and reg foot. I've sprained my left ankle a couple times over the years. I get cortisone shots in my ankle every 6 months or so and my Doc, who's skates, gave me a good lace up ankle brace. But now it's starting to hurt again only after 3 months. It hurts all the time now but mainly when I'm trying to do flip tricks. Only positive is it has really upped my switch game. Pain is right by the knob on the side of my ankle but more on the top, kind of that whole area. Are there any types of exercises I can do to help strengthen that area? Or just any tips/pointers you can give me? Thanks man

Can u tear a ligament from getting hot pocket? Cuz right now I’m 2 months in n ankle still weak n lil bit swollen yet can still skate n jump 5 stairs max for 30 mins max

If you have pain from a hot pocket you probs should take some time off from doing 5 stairs legend. Let the swelling go down and allow it to heal.

2-4 time's a week as you build capacity and tolerance you go more towards the 4 side.

Will this still help if I don’t feel pain when going the exercises? I only get this type of pain when landing anything but when I do these exercises I don’t really feel the pain but when I skate I feel it so much.

Yeah mate for sure. If you’re not feeling the pain when you do the exercises but feeling it when you skate it’s an indication that it can’t handle the positions or forces being placed on it when you skate. Mobilising it and strengthening it with these exercises will allow you to build the tolerance to do so . Be sure to download the program and do that 👊🏽👊🏽
