Hot Rod Deville vs Super Reverb! Battle of the Ti-10s (see what I did there?)! 

I have one that I’m getting Bailey Brothers in Birmingham to fix. Their amp guy is one of the best. I also have a magnatone M-10 custom.

@@dewaynemizzell7009 awesome! This one really just needs a three prong plug and two more speakers. Don't know what to put in it though!

@@guitarfreak585 I got the old alnico’s re coned and that keeps the sound pure.

@@dewaynemizzell7009 this one is flat out missing two speakers unfortunately lol. I don't know if I should go all original, or put two higher wattage ones in for a bit of headroom, or even lower for more breakup.

Wow, thanks man! Yeah I think thats the biggest appeal of the Hot Rod series is that tamed top end, especially when using pedals. The Super is a beast though, but a different kind of beast. Thanks for watching!

The Hot Rod deluxe is the best selling amp of all time for a reason. I really like the Deville. A 2x10 would be ideal for me I think, but maybe someday I'll just get a vibrolux lol

Oh, and meant to say I'm listening on crappy 1", if that, lol, laptop speakers. Maybe that's how the nasal Deville sound I'm hearing is being created, like I'm hearing plenty of mids from it, but my shietty laptop speakers can't reproduce any bass, so I'm left hearing all that nose. But then again, I hear the bass in the Super... man, who knows with RU-vid? Such a natural platform to share representations of tone, but the platform has such crappy audio quality. I see that you can pay RU-vid to get better audio quality. Which is pretty smart, like you can drink all the tap water that tastes like well used public pool water you want (if you wanna destroy your body, as well), or you can pay $1.50 a gallon in a plastic jug to drink water that tastes like water.

Thank you very much! I think a vibrolux would be perfect for me honestly, but I like both of these amps too. It'd be nice to have a place to wind the super up! Any suggestions on speakers?

On its own, I'd absolutely agree

Man I had a deluxe reverb and got more noise complaints with that than any other amp I've ever owned lol. The deville is great, if you need a little more volume control, you can use the second input which is padded a tiny bit, really useful for hot humbuckers. Especially with pedals for dirt, you should be able to use it at low volumes just fine.

christopher z, thanks for demo, just picked a a deville with the four tens, love it. with a cheap od pedal it worked great. are the two speakers in the superJBL? are the open holes covered where the speakers are missing? thanks again , you sound good, do you write songs?

@@chriszaic9278 thank you sir! The other two speakers are missing, I think they were damaged so they took them out. I used to write songs all the time but not so much these days. I did post an original song on my channel in December though!

I'm sure it could be dialed closer, I just wanted to show an overall thing without a bunch of fiddling.

thats where the pressence knob comes into play .i turn mine off with a Strat and 1/2 way up with a humbucker. I have a 73 super as well and i can get very similar tones out of both but the Deville is easier at lower volume. On different days i like each amp better LOL anyway thanks for the vid

Mate, I don't know what you hear, probably, as you say, what you expect. The DeVille has lots more bass and a little more treble compared to the Super, which is more upper-middy. I have both, and I hear it in the vid as well. I love the DeVille for a cleanish, loud Strat sound, but I play the Super more often because it's more mid-rangy and screamy at more civilised volumes. The DeVille is kind of a one trick pony because it's too loud for most venues before it breaks up (unless you use pedals, which I don't)
