I learn something new every time I have me reels worked on at Alan's. I'm going to have to take my TLD 25 over next time. Going to slap a bigger handle on it too if he has one. They are the bomb!

Really cool tutorial Alan. Thanks. One would think that Shimano, with their large and dedicated R&D department would have solved these kind of issues from the word go.

Having owned and serviced various Okuma, Sure Catch, Penn, and other Shimano reels, these are by far my favourite reel due to their simple and reliable design. Replacing the handle as Alan recommended is a must; it is by far the least attractive feature on the TLD series.

Learned a lot from this video , and I have the 20, never been taken apart , works great , and yes the ridiculous factory crank is a joke ..............so it’s off and installed a Tiburon a year and a half ago, way better cranking power and just feels right. I have a question though , I need longer reel seat screws....I had my rod rebuilt and they installed a larger diameter STUART reel seat and the screws are not long enough to use the factory shimano clamp..................now what ? Where do you find longer screws ?

Hi Alan, I tried hot rodding my TLD 25, however when I turn on it s side the spin is only marginally improved ? I have another drag washer spacer will this help ?

i have a shimano tld 25 that recently got serviced because of a busted bearing but a few weeks later while fishing it for the first time since it was serviced there is a hugeeeeee problem with the lever drag system. it wont free spool,the crank locks up, very hard to turn up into sunset mode,and even cranks backwards. with that being said are there any tips u can give me to fix these issues ?

Hello friend. I have a problem on my tld 25 and I was wondering if you can help me? The problem is wen I set it for release the line in the “free” section it doesn’t release the line I have to move the regulator drag next to the knob, do you have an idea what could be happening?
