In this video, I head out on a hot tent canoe trip on George Lake in Killarney. Shoulder season is a tough time to get out. This weekend's forecast included a snow storm, high winds and rain, and I wanted to sneak in a quick trip, somehow in between them all. I managed to escape 2 out of 3 and the 3rd wasn't nearly as bad as estimated. I enjoyed spending time in the hot tent again, on it's 2021 trial run and made some delicious food while enjoying some gorgeous scenery.

Beautiful rock face. I love to tent across from rock faces because all kinds of images come into view after looking at it long enough. I remember past campsites by the images that appeared to me. It's the view that I treasure the most. It's not only magical but transcendent. I feel like it's past centuries communicating with me. And what's better than that?

Looks cozy in your hot tent. My one trip on George Lake I was greeted by high winds and high waves. But I loved the granite and quartz rock surroundings.

Great video Christina. I remember that area well & the rocks are so beautiful. I remember sitting under that giant one on your right around the corner from channel...looking way up from the canoe...just in awe! Awesome to see your solo hot tent up & your enjoyment of the solitude...not common for Killarney P.P. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Hope the injury is better, be well my friend. ❤️

Yup. I sadly don’t get enough in though. I’m working on a new project and dealing with an injury so I missed two other opportunities to go out. Sigh. . But the weather has been kind of bad as well. Even on this weekend, the forecast was horrible. I just hit the window. An hour after I left the park I was driving home in pouring rain and high winds. Lol. The morning I drive up it was forecast to be a snowstorm but we only got a bit the night before. 🧲

You are so lucky! Here in Quebec the parks (Verendrye) closes Labour day weekend because the hunting season begins… great trip! 😊

Really ? All of them ? That’s crazy. We have hunting season here but usually not in Ontario parks. I have to watch out on crown land but otherwise all good. We have a few parks open year round here. Winter camping is getting very popular and more and more are opening up. But, they’re also trying to charge more $$. Lol. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Cheers!

This trip it was a book by Janet evanovich. Last trip it was Adam shoalts. Depends on what I have on my phone. 😊 but usually not outdoorsy. lol. Just easy stories that are relaxing and don’t need much thought. Lol.

Great video as always. YOU and Killarney never disappoints. George Lake looks good even this time of year. Channel leading to open lake was windy just like I remembered and for us was kind of hard especially coming back( we are not very experienced canoeists) Hopefully you going to have a good weather on the way back.I just wander why they changed the site number from 6 to 5?(any prize going my way?lol ,just kidding ) I hope you going to do that little portage it has really beautiful views on both lakes and it is so close from your site.

Thank you so much Kinga. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. They have devised a new system for backcountry camping in Killarney and you now will have to book your specific site when you make your reservation, not just book the lake. I hear this is changing for a few other parks as well. And I believe they re-numbered the system while they were switching everything over.

Love it. I was just kayaking a few days ago. I love my dry suit, I also keep keys/phone inside suit for safe keeping. Warm and cozy in my kayak! Anything that is commonly a summer sport can be done in the cold given proper gear and knowledge. The best is the weird looks I get from "non-outdoor" people that seem to ask "are you nuts?" Ha ha😉

Hey Christina nice to see you back out at Killarney I really needed this to take away some stress i am going through. I am with you on loving those majestic rock faces . god have to love those views as you went around that point off the channel, those rocky areas to your left just gorgeous they look like the were poured , I can see why you enjoy that area . It sure would have been a hard decision to pick where you would pitch the tent, what a beautiful area . cant wait for the second part this was awesome

I would like to be out there on a nice hot summer day so I can take my time and doddle around instead of worrying about hurrying to get to and leave camp because it’s windy. But I probably wouldn’t like all the people that are around then either lol. I guess whichever you choose you have to deal with something . The blue sky was pretty magical too. Lol. I don't care to be around a lot of people when camping either, And agree being able to take your time not have to rush makes a lot of sense always nice when one isn't rushed and can simply relax and enoy the area your in, Yup it seems there is always something that interferers'. with your plan

Great to see you on George! Loved the tour and seeing your epic setup. Great timing for privacy. Looks like you had the place to yourself. It’s normally very busy in the summer especially at that end of the lake. It’s pretty much a highway of paddlers. Did you see anyone else? Looking forward to part 2.

That’s why I went at this time of year. Plus it’s the only time you can get a site. There was a car at the access when I came out Saturday morning. Maybe they went to site number two? Because I didn’t see anyone else on the lake while I was there. I did see a guy car camping near the beach access but other than the people at the office I didn’t see anybody else. Just the way I like it. 😊

And uhh and uhhh and uhhhh ummm, ummm, ahhhh, and uhhhh and uhhh, ummmm, ummm, ummm, are all word burrs and are half of your videos. If you want to be in media you need to eliminate them. It’s as important as your videography. Count them in one of your videos.
