Have I FINALLY found "A new hope" for my displays on this collecting journey?? If you haven't already, check me out with these these figures and more on my Instagram page! / keco.collects
Enjoyed this part 2 video, Keco. Appreciate the cost estimates at the end. Because like myself, I’m sure many were going to ask what do you think you saved going this route over Modu. Was it that you didn’t want to deal with the cost of Modu, the wait time for them to be delivered, or you just wanted to build it yourself?
All 3 lol. I calculated that this similar build with moducase would be close 15k at least - and that's not accounting for custom size pieces (for venom statue, etc). And also, with this, I can swap out the shelfs for acrylic shelves also (which I may end up doing sooner than later.) more options at my disposal :)
@@KeCoCollects Around 15K!!!! 👀 😳🤯 WTF!? I don’t understand why Modu cases are so expensive. Maybe because they’re imported from Singapore? Sheesh. Are you going to be able to cover the exposed bars in the front? That’s the only thing that’s driving me crazy. I saw someone else’s comment that was long as fuck that mentioned those as well. Set up looks nice. Just need to space those figures out and not have them look like a cluster fuck like Justin’s. No shade. I like him. But having figures so close to each other isn’t appealing or looks good. You should consider unboxing videos. I know you’re not a fan of reviews. But unboxing would be cool and give you opportunities for more content on a regular bases. That’s what’s missing from your channel to grow. You need consistent content. We appreciate you. And Keco, NEVER CHANGE. You’re the highlight of those Friday shows I sadly have to catch afterwards. Which is a good thing. Because I can be a dick in the live chat. 😬
Outstanding job!!! It had to be nerve racking to make such a BIG decision and half way through decide whether you made the right decision….but you stayed the course, and it paid off. Thank you for showing the rest of us what’s possible when you’re committed!😊
My "display" shelves are ceiling/wall mounted ones that were just supposed to be for books/dvds etc. Then I discovered Hot Toys 😅. Thankfully they fit but unless they are female figures, they can't have their stands with them. So now biggest worry and priority is how to add a some sort of door so they don't potentially topple over. I was thinking of doing a sort of magnetic acrylic door but didn't know where to begin. Seeing yours has given me ideas. Thanks Keco! Collection looks great! Cant wait to see the final product! PS. My dad really wants the Tumblr but when I showed him your shelf and how it scales with Batman he reconsidered 😂
Cool collection! ^_^ I at one point owned a total of eight Detolf units.Over night i lost interest in them. I had dust proofed each unit, added lights, replaced the shelves with thicker glass. Attempting to dust the rear of a Detolf unit is near to impossible.
Man you really love enunciating your T's. ThaT, quiT, lighT. lol. It's all I can hear now. We place bets on how many "T" are enunciated in one video. Extra added fun to your videos. Thumbs up.
My thoughts (FWIW): - You definitely have outgrown the Detolfs. All that glass, lighting and consistency made it look super sharp. But they couldn't house statues and vehicles properly. Props to moving on to something bigger and better. - I've never been a fan of the 'garage rack' type set ups... more because of the upright posts with exposed holes for adjustable shelves. It's not too bad when they are covered up (from the plexiglass magnetic doors) but often time, most people don't bother covering the exposed holes on the inside which can be distracting in the collection. - I find that anything more than ~15" tends be too much depth to display 1/6 figures which garage rack type shelves and Moducases often fall under. However, I understand that 15" of depth is not enough for 1/6 vehicles. Another problem with 'deep' shelves is that figures in the back and middle rows get lost, specifically when viewing the display from above (unless the shelf is made out of glass). - IMO, to properly display 1/6 figures, 2 rows/levels per shelf will do the trick without getting too crowded. - IMO, you need to provide a minimum of 16" in height for 12" figures to leave space above the figure so it doesn't seem so cramped and to have it properly lit. That said, I think the figures would display better if you did 3 levels/shelves per rack instead of 4+. - Corners of the room where two display cabinets/shelves/rack meet, tend to be such a trouble spot. I feel like that unless it's cabinet that is specifically designed for a corner, it never looks great. Anything displayed in the corner gets lost among the rest of the collection unfortunately. Anyhow, just my thoughts! What a HUGE undertaking and congrats and getting it there! Are you going to sell your Detolfs to help fund this revamp of the collection room? Thanks again for sharing!
All great points! Hopefully sooner than later, I will be able to answer all these questions with solutions lol. Either way, there is no perfect solution, but we are trying! Thanks for the input
You’re a beast for getting through all that work👍 may I make a suggestion regarding your cable management. Home Depot has an item called Wiremold Cordmate which ranges in sizes 9/16 to 1-1/2 inches wide which may fit the area you have your cords zipped tide. There also peel and stick for easy installation.
I only have three of those types of shelves and the thought of moving my figures to make adjustments is daunting. I feel your pain lol, but I agree with the new layout and the amount of room you’ve created is definitely worth the hard work. Thanks for sharing your journey!
Nice set up. Me personally I can't use these. Too much headache with the dust. I made custom made display shelves with glass doors. Doors also foam lined to cut down dust to a minimum. I can't imagine needed to dust my figures once every few months . Gonna take the whole weekend
Hey bud, you thought you were clustered before. Now it is extra cluster. I loved the original clean set up you had. was a lil jealous. Was clustered but SUPER CLEAN. I like the old way bud.
Appreciate the feedback. Don't have to clean glass anymore at least lol - but the limitations of how restricting the glass cubes were outweighed this new set up. I need places and room. Thanks for watching!
in your case i believe you made the right choice, especially since you plan to collect more. detolfs work out great for smaller collections in my opinion but not so much when you have volume and different figure/statue scales to consider. the collection tour will be cool to see when it comes
Brah, you are a work horse!! I can see how much effort this mamoth task took, well done!💪🏾👌🏽 Looks geat! A quick steam with a hand steamer might help get rid of the winkles if you can be bothered but either way looks amazing so far, congrats!🍻🍾
So I guess Will couldn't convince you to get those Moducases after all? lol Another great video Keco! Can't wait to see the collection room tour video soon.
@@KeCoCollects man, what a project you took on to switch these all out though, with two incoming Batmobiles I definitely need to make at least one of these…
Hello, I just want to say that I think I made a mistake and everything is going to look GREAT once you get it fully assembled. And like you kept saying this isn't the final look especially when it comes to how the figures are arranged. I think I spoke too soon as if what you are showing is the final product. Yeah, just wanted to say I had a change of heart and wanted to let you know that you've done a great job. Percentage wise, it's pretty close, like 80% Pareto Principle style! Best of luck to ya! Stay healthy!
You could easily sell those detolfs and make back 75% of what you spent. Would probably take time but I mean, what else are you gonna do with 20+ of them lol
Ok, so first off, I am generally a positive person but not a Pollyanna, so I want to say some nice things first. Your work ethic is incredible. You remind me of Vikings that I've seen in movies and TV shows. The video is also very well edited and entertaining to watch. Well done there! The whole series was a blast to watch! You are super entertaining and could make videos like these for a lot of other content. You being awesome, I think EVERYONE can agree on (or the majority!). But can I say something REALLY bad just to "help" you out lol :D and objectively. You do what you want, but I just want to get this off my chest. You going from Detolfs to whatever you have going on now, NO one is complimenting on that. Most of the people know it's a downgrade in so many ways and some (or many!) have downright said so. But here's the kicker! If you did this EXACT same thing in Moducases, majority of the people would be BLOWN away and commenting on your "upgrade". Please let that sink in. What you have done is a downgrade and not an upgrade, and there's no comparison between Moducases. The acrylic you are using isn't even the same. For space, you could display your figures like Hot Toys did at their new location. It's on Justinscollection's channel with BudgetStark. Easy to find if you put those in the title. With that kind of setup (at the HotToys store), you could have more space and aesthetics. You may want to take a look at what Hot Toys did at their store display just to see if it's to your liking. They have up to 10 figures in a ~24" space it seems. Please reconsider, because life is short, so just spend on yourself. Save up or invest your money, let it grow and then purchase your Moducases. It's up to you, but your current setup is not an alternative to Moducases. It's a downgrade from Detolfs even. Ouch. If you're happy, then just do whatever you are doing. Stay healthy!
Meh - I'm not convinced that Moducases would be dramatically different than what he's put together at a fraction of the cost and was able to see this realization before he's 60 years old. With this option, Kevin has more space AND more budget for more figures + statues + props + figures to add to his collection.
Well space ist the issue......but i think IT looking Not Clean Like before.now ITS looking with the barrs and struds crampened in....the Glass Made them Look more Clean and smooth....now its looking crampend in and restricted with black framing...Sure itsNot finishefbbut from Display Looks ITS for my taste an downfall. Before IT looked very pristine and highclass this looking Like in an Storeware and lost its elegance.....only my taste....If you have more room ok....but the Flair of the Presentation before is gone.
