I have been looking at hot toy figures for a few years now but due to financial constraints i have not been able to get into it. With my financial situation being alot better now, i got my first figure(Beskar Mando), and my IM mk85, is on the way. I currently have 4 others on pre-order and can't wait to get them all and build my collection

I've already picked the first Hot Toy Sixth Scale figure 😎😎 I watch collection room tours, figure and statue reviews and unboxing videos and tips and tricks to display collectables and which cabinets that you should get depending on your budget so I can plan my room, collection, and how everything is displayed
I'm a statue guy, but you can't deny the appeal of hot toys. The detail and being able to pose them... it's a great experience. I've PO-ed the clone wars series and I'm very excited to get them hopefully towards the end of the year!

I just made my first purchases days ago! To keep things in "control" I'm starting out with a theme. My first figures are Gold theme: Ironman Midas, Gold WW, Gold Harley Quinn, Iron Spider.. Thinking I'll have each row another "color" starting w/ a spidey and ironman as they are my favorite and also have the most variants:)
Excellent points, which I agree with. I'm only collecting mainly sci-fi and certain classic film characters/franchises. So, I'm good with my collection not being oversaturated.

Just subscribed because of this video. I’m a veteran Hot Toys collector, I even own a store with a Sideshow wholesale account so I peddle these things as well and this is a part of the market/industry not talked enough about. Pretty spot on here. A few more things I’d have addressed but overall, I hope more content like this comes out so these figures are more accessible to the average collector. Let me know if you’d ever like a collab some time! I can at least bring a retail perspective to the conversation.

You are right about this being addictive, one figure leads to another very quickly! Mine grew very rapidly! Self sustaining though, I buy two of each and flip one, this funds the hobby!
My story is exactly like yours. Now i am only strictly hot toys 1/6 scale. I stick only with dc, marvel, star wars. I only collect what i love and if i have one iron man is my favorite and not 10 just to have iron man. I am about half way to complete what i want and then i will be done collecting. Dont plan to have more than 50 ever. I am at 25. I also keep a balance view and i am extremely patience. Thanks for video

I get your point with the quality/cost of Hot Toys stuff, but I think that in combination with spending more money on custom parts and pieces on 1/12 figures (and still be cheaper than a 1/6 figure itself) such figures figures CAN ideed look like miniature-versions of a 1/6 scale figure. At least I did so with a lot of pieces in my collection and I love customizing and displaying them! Still, it is depending on what you prefer personally and like I said, I geht your point(s).
I'm a collector in general: CGC & SDCC AFA graded items - nothing of value, but I like the preservation aspect. I have some SS statues, vinyl toys, original & giclee art too. I own two HTs and love posing them; a third on PO. I know the Holographic IM Mk4 isn't a fan favorite, but I love it b/c it fits my collection since it looks more animated.
Got into 1/6 scale hot toys when man of steel came out most expensive one I got is drax hot toys was hard to get but I needed to complete my Guardians of the Galaxy collection thank you for your videos Hope to see more soon
I went from hot toys to statues, now mostly third party 1/6 figures. I can’t take the lack of variety from hot toys. Marvel and Star Wars. Nothing is more frustrating then hot toys releasing another damn iron man figure. Thanks for the content!
I do agree and understand. I for one wish they did more diverse characters as well even within those universe instead of 12 version of Iron Man like you say. But for me the issue is not Hot Toys. Hot Toys can't be faulted for making the business decision to concentrate on the 2 major IPs that sells the most. The issue is that Hot Toys does not have competitors with other IPs.
Not to be weird, but my story is ALMOST EXACTLY like yours... Started with Star Wars action figures as a kid - sold those. Started collecting Funko Pops - taking up too much room (still collect here and there) Got back into my roots with Star Wars Black Series - got into Marvel Legends. Got my favorite Iron Man Hot Toy (Shotgun) - decided to get my favorite Star Wars character too (General Grievous). However... Right now, I'm on the top of the mountain right before the snowball rolls... help... P.S. Already preordered War Machine Mark 1, and stoked for it!
In the past I avoided Hot Toys because they were way too expensive and I couldn’t justify spending that kind of money of a high end toy. But when the ROTJ Luke Skywalker was announced, I pre-ordered on Sideshow. Hence, got my first Hot Toy. A year later I visited a local comic book shop that carried Hot Toys. And on this day, they had Alita Battle Angel, which I missed on the Sideshow website. And luckily for me, this shop lets you make layaway payments on the Hot Toys. And since then I’ve purchased at least 19 more Hot Toys. I usually only get my favorite characters. It’s easy to get caught up. But it’s been fun. Just be wise with your spending and be sure to take care of your home and personal finances.
Great advise! I started collecting Hot Toys and some other third party sixth scale figures about three years ago. Now I have 136 figures with plenty more on pre-order. BTW - Deadpool was also my first Hot Toy. 😀
@@KeCoCollects Thank you for the reply. Toys Era has some great figures and they keep improving their quality. Threezero did a good job with the Game of Thrones line. I’ve pre-ordered a few Toys Era recently because they are making the characters that Hot Toys won’t do like Heimdall, Ebony Maw, Juggernaut, The Goblin, and Ronan to name a few.
I became a collector of 1/6 in 2022. I decided to concentrate on only 1 thing : SW Clone Wars and get many of these to pose in a few dioramas of epic battle ... But how could I pass a few iconic figures because they were in the original series? Why not also do a Jabba's Palace/throne room? And so I started hunting those out and bought many of those as well! Then I saw that there are a few Mando figure worth taking too while they are now coming out so I took a few of those. I started watching Titan series not long ago so finding the new Bat Girl (Before the wheel chair!), Nightwing and Robin, I decided I had to get a few of those as well in a Diorama against Deathstroke... My point is that with Only 8 days in 2022 I spent a fair amount of $, much more than I want to say here and now I need to move to stage 2 and clean the room and buy displays to pose them properly as I imagine in my head... All that and I have yet to receive a single figure lol! I think I really went all in here but it's going to be epic!!
It's a good thing I couldn't care less about the Sequels!! I'm saving there. Also I decided to start watching the Clone Wars all over again! But this time in the chronological order they should have come out not how they actually did!! I am having a blast doing all this!!
Great video man. When I was a kid I would customize my toys. Add clothe & pose them badass. Around age 12 I started collecting marvel legends. I would walk to the store and buy them for $5 . I was a happy kid . Then I stopped. Around age 18 I was curious if I could find an Iron Man figure made out of metal or just look badass. It was around 2010 when I stumbled on this Hot toys Iron man. I was in shock! The likeness and all of its glory. Then I found out the company also had made Predator and other pop culture figures . I wanted to start collecting around 2011 but at that time I didn’t have the money to start collecting since I had gotten married. It was desire to buy this iron man & scar predator. Sadly I started very late until 2014. I’ve got my small collection of 13 figures so far. Slowly building my collection but enjoying them.
The potential for deterioration of the suit materials is what worries me most about Hot Toys. All of the caveats about posing the figures stretching the suit material permanently is worrisome. Regarding Hot Toys being the pinnacle of figures, I think that's debatable. My favorite figure version of certain characters are actually in 1/12 scale by Mafex. The head sculpts and overall detail, and poseability of Mafex figures are awesome. And I don't have to worry about things like the suit stretching from posing or things like the pleather flaking, etc. That being said, I'm considering a 1/4 scale Hot Toys for Bale's Dark Knight because it does look like the best figure representation money can buy, and one of the statue versions although superior and preferable, is cost prohibitive.
I have 1/4 Hottoys figures only . Mark 42,43,45 , 1/4 Spider-man also . And Play Imaginative 1/4 War Machine Iron Patriot. I have 1/4 Custom Tony Stark ( HT Tony Sculpt),1/4 James "Rhodey" Rhodes ( HT Joker body with PI 's Rhodey Sculpt ) . Once you get that . You will found out much Wonderful .

You hit the nail on the head! I've slowly been collecting Sixth scale figure since Sideshow were making Clone Troopers and then my first couple of HT were Ep 7 Luke, then both versions of Anakin as he's my favorite character as well. My issue now is that bit that you mentioned about selling off Black Series and Marvel Legends figures. It's so hard to even get back a fraction of what I've spent but I want to get rid of most of those figures in order to save up for bills but also for more future HT figures. Anyway it was another great video so tks for this. Maybe in the future you can give some tips on how to budget for HT figures. Obviously we should use our collection to invest in it but I'm sure that theres more ways of obtaining funds for 6th scale figures than just obtaining it by selling off figs from our collections.
I’ve been really intrigued by HT recently heard about them in 2020 nd lately I’ve had the itch but I’ve heard that they all start with “I’m just getting one”, and since I have an addictive personality this could be a dangerous hobby for me lol but they look absolutely sick Really thinkin bout pulling the trigger and buying the Iron Man Mk 2 heck the new re issue of the Mk 1 Warmachine looks impeccable as well 😅
its funny that i found myself here just because i ordered a Thanos and Ironman Endgame Hot Toys with zero clue how much they cost or what they really are. I thought they were fancy statues i used to stare at as a kid in a comic book shop. i saw them in a facebook group, and made my deposit, thinking that i have fully paid for them lol when i found out i just made a deposit, and that the full price of the toys was 3x what i paid for in preorder, i was a bit shocked. it's also funny that i almost reported the hobby shop to the cops, because i thought i was scammed. it has been 2 years since i made my deposit and i have yet to receive the "toys." as it turns out, this was a usual thing for Hot Toys, and that it was also normally in that price range. i am currently binging on these videos because i just fully paid for the Thanos end game figure, and i will hopefully get it within the week. i am a bit excited, and amazed at how detailed they really are. thank you for making contents like this, and i have subscribed to the channel.
10 figures on 4 months... I'm completely in love of hot toys. The sad thing is that i want a lot of figures from old movies, but now they are really difficult to get.

im 13 and i am collecting hot toys in a werid way,i dont have much so i made plans with my $5 allowance everyday and the $100 each month im getting from a job frok mcdonalds next year,my mom control my saving and she also takes 40% so i get $100 a month,made one whole plan and find out i can get 5 figures with enough to eat and save up,brought my first"hot toys" but isnt rlly a figure,instead is a iron man accesories pack cause i found one for 100sgd(or 73usd for the US),brought that first cause its super cheap,planning to study hard so i can at least save up for these figures without my parents complaining,good luck to me,was a lego collector so selling it rn
I just got 40th anniversary boba fett last week. such an amazing figure. but im not sure how all the accesories fit yet on him they need an instruction manual. sooooo many accessories lol
sorry but even if i have all the money i would still collect mezco, but i only buy what i like my collection is minimal and i like it that way i hate seeing people with hundreds of marvel legends and mcfarlane figures overlapping each other on the shelf, mezco one 12 is awesome they are basic 6 inch hot toys
I like 1/6 figures, but Hot Toys keep releasing figures of Marvel, DC and Star Wars, kinda boring. Third party figures have large variety of different characters, lots of surprises.
It's funny, everything you are saying can quite literally be applied to the world of Masterpiece Transformers. I could dub over every mention of Hot Toys and replace it with Masterpiece Transformers and it would still make perfect sense.

Nice vid my man. I've seen your transformation from 1/12 to 1/6 and while I'm still slightly disappointed you sold off your 1/12 collection Ive enjoyed your journey to where you are now. Personally I like 1/12 better. Much more dynamic for toy photography imo and better posability. With 1/6 it's usually portrait shots and that's it. Now portrait shots are amazing too but I personally enjoy the setup and creating a scene. With that said, I've stopped collecting Hasbro stuff. The chase is ridiculous and all the exclusives are terrible. I have way less stress now. I'm limiting myself to Mezco (my personal favorite) and Hot Toys, Sideshow, and some third party brands. With all this said, I do love Hot Toys but I'm all bit done with them because of your first point. Cost. Can I afford them? Yes. But for me it's a matter of principle and they've recently raised their prices now where it feels like they are purposely over charging because we collectors are addicted to them like a drug. As hard as it is I've had to say enough is enough for most Hot Toys going forward. I have quite a few in pre order still and I'll plop the cash down for one here or there in the future, bit it's out of hand imo with the new pricing.

@@KeCoCollects I should clarify that your stuff is awesome my man! Love your shots!! Hot Toys definitely deserve portrait shots. My joy of setting up a scene before photographing goes back to my childhood of setting up the figures in their bases, etc before I started playing lol.
I struggle with your assumption that it's always a choice between one perfect 6-scale figure vs five sub-par 6-inch figures. 6-inch is not synonymous with poor quality. Figuarts, Mafex and NECA have all made fantastically detailed figure in that scale. Yes, Black Series has a spotty history, but even thoes have improved dramatically. So I understand your argument, and Hot Toys quality is undeniable, but I find your comparrison a bit flawed.
For about how long do hot toys stay in stock, before entering the after market? I've seen some figures that have been on the sideshow website for quite a long time now.
It truly does vary. Before, they over produced a lot of figures hence why they are sitting around. The new way of things seemingly are lower batches, and things going out of stock sooner. In short, no one really knows unfortunately
@@ehstudios correct, once they are gone, they are gone. - however, there is a debate on when they actually go "in stock" right now. Some things "sold out" have never been in stock and we are waiting to see if this is the new norm or not.
@@KeCoCollects I see, thanks for the help. Considering getting the new AOTC Anakin, but trying to decide if I should pre order, or wait until it is in stock, as I am worried that once it's in stock, it may sell out quickly, and be gone for good.
You forgot to mention a very important thing, that once you're into the hobby you probably won't stop collecting 1/6 figures... and so far I haven't had the need to sell my 1/6 figures, but like you said most probably I won't lose the money a paid for them.

Revenge of The Sith was my introduction into the Star Wars universe and I also really want a hot toys Anakin. But it is sold out sadly. I have the black series figure, the 3.75 figure, the Lego starfighter and more but I've been considering getting into Hot Toys. The only problem is that figure is sold out. Could I expect a re-release soon? I heard an Anakin Jedi Starfighter is "Coming Soon" from Hot Toys. But they've been saying that since 2019 Comicon. Do you think the figure come with the ship or separately as a re-release? And how much could we expect the Starfighter to be? I joined the RSVP list.
Thanks for watching! Anakin is my favorite as well. With Hot Toys, the only ones who knows what's coming is them. Impossible to predict! I really don't think we will see the star fighter. It's just too big and not a lot of people have the space for that. Then want to make money and they need them to sell.
