I really didn't like Depp as Grindelwald. He just seemed too affected in his movements and speech, plus I didn't buy that he could charm someone like Queenie into joining him, he was just so off-putting and creepy. I LOVED Colin Farrell in the first movie and I wish they had had him play Grindelwald from the start and made Graves a disciple of his. I found Farrell really charismatic and magnetic and that's how I imagine Grindelwald managing to gain followers despite saying and doing things that are blatantly evil. Plus Johnny Depp looks WAAAY too old to be similar in age to Jude Law, whereas Farrell looks just right age-wise. Idk, I'm glad there are people who really like Depp in this role, but for my taste he just seems all wrong. Of course my opinion might be coloured by all the weird plot-holes and confusing character motivations in the second movie, I spent a lot of the movie wondering why some of the new characters even existed in the screenplay and why existing characters were acting so contradictory. So yeah, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next film that they tighten up the story and focus more on SHOWING the audience who the characters are through actions rather than TELLING us through long monologues, because the premise of this series has SO MUCH potential! :D

Jonnhy Depp is 5'10 and Eddie Redmayne is about 6'0 - 6'1 So the scale is correct

The skull is a device for smoking. It also gave him visions of the future and could display those visions to other people. The little silver necklace is the blood pact between dumbledore and him. They agreed as younger men to not fight one another and the necklace is what makes it so they can’t fight. It is also a romantic thing. Also the wand he has is the elder wand. Which is also the wand we see dumbledor using in the Harry Potter movies. I forgot what the bird is called.

As with newt I have to compliment the tailoring. Always impressed with the thinness of the cloth. Like the skull a lot too and while the bird looks good, I'm not crazy about it being so static. Headsculpt definitely looks like Johnny Depp, but looks a little odd around the forehead region at some angles. Overall this is another great figure, think the fantastic beast line just hit the right grooves.

I’ve watched this so many times already but my Newt is on its way here soon and I think I’ll be needing this one as well! The feathers on the Auguery (Irish Phoenix)he comes with give me pause but your opinion means much and you are quite right it looks awesome!

I agree, they oversized the ears(?!?!) and changed the square jaw to a triangular jaw. It is in no way identical to the prototype. If you think it is you need your eyes tested! Massive miss.

Wondering if you could do a comparison between all the Hot Toys Johnny Depp figures, seeing how many they're made, or at least the most up to date version of that character. Johnny went wacky once he did Pirates. He goes for eccentric, animated, crazed characters, he loves completely immersing himself in it. He's really taking it into his natural personality. So is Keanu Reeves. Even Robert Downey Jr. had to question where Tony ends and Robert begins. Yes, thanks for showing the height difference. Eddie Redmayne is 6'0", Johnny's 5'10".

I like figures with good head sculpt.. I collect more towards the unmasked figures which catches the actors face.. appreciate it much.. and batman is the only masked figure I think I have... So this is definitely a good fig to get.. specially its johnny depp

Hey hi Justin, Looking at some screens of Johnny Depp in this role I would have to state that the ears are completely wrong and stick out too far and the hairline is too low, the mouth is very different to Jonny Depps! Hot Toys are getting lazy with their head sculpts at times! Do they not ask around as to what people think before going into production!...With the doubling of their prices, they are at times not consistent with their product quality...The outfit looks great... but unfortunately, the head sculpt lets it down as this is not Johnny Depp! Cheers Mate!
