If the pump sounds "funny" and no flow, there's only 3 reasons. Blocked impeller, Broken Impeller, or Knife Valve is shut.

Not all hot tubs all plumbed the same. Some have pump one before the spa pack and some after. I find all sorts of things because people take out their filters to clean and forget to put it back. Happens more times than you think.

My problem is in my jetted bathtub! Nothing can get through that large! What once was powerful jets is presently limp!! The jets move the water, just not how it’s supposed to work!

check the pumps impeller.

if there was a filter in the hot tub, such things could not happen

Yep. But it does happen... A LOT. People take out the filter to clean and forget to put it back in or they take it out to replace it with a new one and forget.
