Hot tub rash is caused by a type of bacteria called P. aeruginosa bacteria which thrives in warm water. It can even live in chlorinated water!
**** Keep your water perfectly balanced to help ensure your water stays free of bacteria, viruses and other contaminants with my top recommended chemicals from Amazon - hottubownerhq....
While it most often affects the young or immune-compromised, it can actually infect anyone. Luckily it usually goes away on it's own in 7-10 days. It usually shows up 72 hours after coming into contact with the contaminated water.
Symptoms include pimples or blotches on the chest and arms, and possibly the legs. Mild fever can also sometimes occur.
Anti-itch cream can reduce the need to itch, and Neosporin can reduce the chances of secondary infection due to broken skin caused by scratching.
Ensure your hot tub stays safe by always checking and adjusting your hot tub water before every use. Keep chlorine levels between 1-3ppm or bromine levels between 2-6ppm. Also ensure your water's pH stays between 7.4 and 7.6.
