I think because you are more into the actual cars than you are for FF the Lighting Truck doesn't impress you much. And that's ok. I ain't mad at you. But for the FF fans this is a very big deal. Keep making these great videos.
YES... I totally agree it's not about the different cars it's about the movie line & it's not even about that Brian O'Connor drove it AKA Paul Walker. but to the true F&F collectors it's about finishing the first set of Car's that were in the First Movie. Just waiting on Vince's Nissan Maxima hopefully Hot Wheels does it before anybody else. Especially Jada because I do not like the way they're Car's look compared to Hot Wheels.
I’m a JDM guy and I thought to myself, I’m no expert but I’ve been around a few GNXs, this piece is fantastic, what am I missing? No one seems to care about how accurate this piece is. Specially here in So. Cali.
Awesome fast and furious motor city muscle set you open up and you reviewed congrats. 👍I'm on the hunt for all 5 of those and I can't wait to add all 5 of those to my hotwheels collection. 👍
@@HotWheelsBurban The GNX is a Buick Regal Grand National that's been turned up to the next level. I.E. think of the normal Grand National as a 10 the GNX is at 11. Here's a link to a nice write up about the 1987 GNX news.classicindustries.com/buick-gnx-specs
The Buick GNX was the one I was expecting the most, although I have many of the variations from the first tooling, I was awaiting patiently for a proper version, not only this is finally the way it was supposed to be, I think this is the best mix yet... And happy to see it will appear again in the car culture power trip mix...
I've got the Nova and the Torino. The fine details on these and the wheels are way nice. Beyond the quality of some other premium sets. The Nova especially.
Probably the best F&F Premium set so far. Ford SVT Lightning and the Buick Grand National are the highlights here imo, but the rest look sweet too. And most people actually talk about the Grand National so i'm not sure why Lamley thinks otherwise, but whatever. Getting the whole set for sure, maybe even two. Thanks for the nice presentation!
While I haven't been able to get to more than a couple of Walmarts lately for obvious reasons, at the few Ottawa Walmarts I do get to (where I'm mainly shopping for groceries, toiletries, pet food, and medications), I haven't seen any new Hot Wheels premium Fast and Furious cars since Fast Rewind. My favourite straight black premium Hot Wheels that I have in my collection would either be the Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider from Retro Entertainment Miami Vice or the Ferrari Dino 246 GT from Hot Wheels Garage 2011. (I have another premium Hot Wheels Dino 246 GT in black from the Bruce Wayne Collection diorama but I like the Garage one just a hair more because it has a tan interior while the BWC one has a black interior.) Speaking of Bruce Wayne, I suppose the '89 Batmobile would also count as a straight black vehicle, that could be my pick for third, after the two Ferraris.
OMG that 1961 Imp is Sooooo nice! As a lover of Impalas that year is one of the top 5 best Imps ever made IMO. All 5 of these cars are so damn nice that I just ordered this set of 5 off amazon. I was a collector of 1;18th scale cars years ago back in the 1990s but I stopped because I ran out of room to put them in the little place I lived in. I still have a couple of the 1;18th scale cars like my 1957 Chevy Bel Air drag car that was made by Hot Wheels in the early 1990s. The thing I like about these Hot Wheels Premium cars is that now they are getting to a level of detail that got me into collecting the big cars but in this nice little 1:64th scale, where I have 20 HW cars setting on my TV stand right now, I would only have room for 3 of the big models. P.S. I know it should be an : not a ; but RU-vid thinks you're trying to put a time stamp in if you do 1:18th lol
Matchbox did this Lightning in the basic line, it hasn't been out in a while. The HWP one is a nice replica, but I'm a GM and Mopar fan myself so it doesn't do a lot for me either. The only Premium Nova I recall is the gasser ones, maybe I missed one. It's beautiful and so is the Impala, but the GNX is my nominee for casting of the year. I was in serious automotive lust for the Grand National when it came out (I was just out of high school then)so I know what it's supposed to look like. They nailed it! Especially for the scale. Only quibble is with the wheels; a stock GNX has chrome or alloy wheels. Thanks for the video and information!
Im very impressed with Hotwheels with this series. I usually collect Auto World and Greenlight muscle cars but I'm diggin that Nova and ford truck. I l already have the grand national by Johnny lightning. I don't collect a lot of Johnny lighting because either they can be a little bigger or smaller then 1:64 scale and that's also Hotwheels as well but I was impressed with the Grand national. If I collect anything Johnny lighting, it would be their trucks but that's rare.
I got the set for the GNX, Nova nad Torino. Now that I get a better look at the Impala and truck, I think they will not be looking through plastic shortly.
Oh I like or maybe I should say LOVE the Grand National from HW FAF MC line. The dimensions are fantastic compared to the Boulevard series. And the fact the fact that we don’t see IMO enough black cars from HW and MBX basic or premium makes it just so much better. It looks so sleek and simple. It is up there with the 190 EVO II just because of the simple decals and details. When we talk about black cars. I would definitely love if HW made the 2019 Honda Civic aType R black version from the mainline (as well as the other colors) into a premium just because it’s a clean looking car, I just miss the metal base and real riders
I couldn't agree with you more sir, a Grand National is absolutely perfect. I am such a big fan of the Grand Nationals, metal released that one and I have five of them. Would you do for me I can't get much better than that. Not that the rest of the set is bad, whole set is very nice, but the Grand National beats them by a mile.
The people I've spoken to are only speaking about the Grand Natty. I own 5 of them currently and looking for more. To be honest, I love the car in real life so when I saw this casting, I knew that I was going to pick up a lot of them. The Lightning is second best. Thanks for displaying!
I need to find the Lightning and GNX yet they are out of stock everywhere looked. If I can manage to get two Lightnings one is getting wheel swapped to look more accurate.
I bought the 61 Impala the 66 Nova and the 72 Gran Torino and have had them for over a year now but could never find the Grand National or the SVT Lightning. I found the Grand National and bought it yesterday and I just found the SVT lightning today and both are now on their way to me
I don’t have any friends that like hot wheels, but I can’t stop thinking about the grand national. I asked my mom to look for the series when she goes to the store tomorrow.
Thanks for highlighting the Grand National . . . I wasn’t appreciating the new casting enough. I was a little disappointed with the chrome interior on the Ford Torino GT.
In Mountain Dew livery? I have the 1980s Hot Ones version (which I know is a Buick Regal stock car but not a Grand National since it's from a few years before the Grand National) but I'd love to see the Mountain Dew livery in modern premium Hot Wheels form.
I for one am really glad they did the GNX, I was using the rlc in its place and the most recent fast and furious. And its m/m r/r ..its just what my case needed.
I don't care one bit about the movies but I do love the castings it has given us so I am a fan. The Buick is the star of this lineup I got two just like the Trans Am and red Chevelle in the first set. These are the cars I want jdm cars look like kitchen appliances to me.
I love the Lightning as i have a soft spot for that gen. Miss stepsides. Like to see them do another shoptrucks or a straight pickup truck line, also a Lowrider line including japanese shakotans (do an 80s Nissan Cedric or Toyota crown)
I've found only 2 of the Gran Torinos, everything else gets snatched up but I was able to buy a case (2 sets) from a distributor. The lightning was the Racer's Edge shop truck Brian drove '61 Impala was from Fate of the Furious in Cuba Grand National was from the beginning of the 4th movie from the gas heist scene Gran Torino was the 4th movie as well, Phoenix's car And the Nova I believe was at the car meet in Fast Five in Brazil
There is a somewhat similar casting for the F150 released in 2003 And a few releases in mainline afterwards. Most notable difference is the cargo area was covered
I picked up this set in 3 seperate shops but probably went looking for them 10 times. It was pretty hard to find all of them especially the Ford lightning. But yes the black grand national should get more praise
Love the Torino, the Impala, and the Buick. However now that you mentioned that Auto World has a stock version of the Impala I will probably get that one instead lol
The hype around the F150 Lightning was Brian O’Conner’s (Paul Walker) first car, which was completely stock, in the movie that we never got to see besides in 1 or 2 scenes.. it’s nostalgic for me to see it as a toy car now from watching that movie over and over as a kid.. BUT.. those wheels are terrible and makes it look like a drag truck... they should’ve gone with how stock wheels/tires. With that being said, I completely agree with you and the Grand National is the winner of this set.. 100%!
The F-150 Lightning was Not Conner AKA Paul Walker's first car it was the Mitsubishi Eclipse. That truck was a shop truck from The Racers edge & He would use it to Make pickups and deliveries for the Shop.
I love the new tooling for the 70 Chevelles and a few others, but now they have knocked out of the ball park with the GNX. The earlier releases looked so poorly done with the removilable hood and didnt flow at all. Happy to see it done right finally.
I loved this video, but I do believe that the R32 is not Black. Take a very close in depth look into it, place it next to the FNF Trans AM and compare. I see it as more of a deep dark grey. Just my eyes and opinion. The Chevy II Casting rocks, my fave of the five.
I'm with you on the lightning just cause of the movie I pick one up. That gnx is the best yet! And looking at my around 640 hw I count 10... maybe that are all black would you count the color of the base too ? I wouldn't count the f&f 70 dodge charger, red strip on the back and would you count the bugatti chiron
Hot Wheels previously did the F-150 SVT Lightning in a Tooned version back in the early-mid 2000s, but that casting has been out of production for about a decade, maybe more
