Hello, Susan, and Dogs That team members! Could you possibly do another video on the relaxation protocol? Any more tips on how to get there? It's been a struggle. I know there are prerequisites to it being effective. But maybe someone else out there besides me would benefit from more info on that protocol. Thank you for all your hard work and kindness in sharing so much with us.

All the little nuances; it’s crazy what a difference they make. You’re so kind to share about all the ones you have noticed over your years of experience. Sometimes you don’t see it until it is pointed out. ❤

I absolutely love the idea of going to the dog and touching them, as opposed to just releasing them with a verbal cue...genius solution to preventing hyper focus during those times!! Thanks for sharing!!

Super helpful! May I suggest, or rather request, a series of nuance podcasts on additional areas of focus such as perhaps... Loose leash walking, pivots, jumping up when greeting etc etc I know you have awesome podcasts on many many specifics so now podcasts next level.. okay now what... I think others would love this.. I KNOW that I would!

A super helpful podcast. By repeating a cue I'm actually reinforcing my dog for breaking the cue, the thing before the thing. It's a great lesson. Thanks Shaped By Dog

I feel like a beginner again. I love that feeling of curiosity and how much more there is to learn. You have renewed the burned out dog trainer in me! I was on the path of getting older, but not wiser.

I can't stop thinking about my sweet Cocker who could not get his last leg for CD because of sit stay. He was my second agility/obedience trained dog. With the first we were able to complete CDX. The 2nd boy and I shared the one and only time I cried in frustration at an event. I wish I had known about Hot Zone back then.

Best gems for me: “ Train the dog in front of you”. &. “Be Curious”

This is SO GOOD! It makes me excited to keep an eye on how I train with Ceilidh to see where I'm unknowingly sending her these kinds of mixed messages that slow down the results I'm working towards!

I can’t believe you posted exactly the right podcast for the question I have about duration in the relaxation position. I am going straight back to my videos to see if I can spot the nuance I’ve previously missed😊

Repeat success at a lower level of distraction, rather than failure at a higher level… good point. I'll remember that.

Super helpful. Practical. And, though sometimes I love references to go watch another episode, I love how this time you didn’t list too many. Sometimes too many references caused by brain to get lost in the message.

So great thank you for this episode Susan it's made me consider looking at what I'm doing in much more detail and to use videoing more which will help just like you tell us.

This was so helpful. I use "cooking" in the kitchen so my dog stays away and is not underfoot. She does this easily but often sneaks off to come closer to sniff. She is not a counter surfer so does not try to get food. All I have to do is look at her and she returns to her hot zone (aka cooking zone). But she often sneaks off again. Eventually she gets released but I've been thinking she's training me as she waits for "the look" and thus is not performing correctly. I'm going to try just returning her by the collar until she realizes she needs to stay out until released. Thanks so much. 14:03

This podcast was super helpful! Buddy and I are currently in HTD, and one of our working progresses is Hot Zone! I have one question: you said paws belong in the Hot Zone. Sometimes, when Buddy lies down on the Hot Zone, his paws are off it. (Dangling off/stretch over the floor) Should I be correcting him for that? Or, is the Hot Zone perhaps too small?

Thanks, another excellent video!! I've done a lot of rewarding my 8 month old pup for being on her hot zone- in specific games a little bit, but more capturing throughout the day when she is more relaxed. I have not yet added any cue to hot zone, so she is free to come and go as she pleases still. I'm lacking some confidence about adding a cue to hot zone- I want to do it a way that is as clear as possle for me and my pup! Where do I start?

If you cued your dogs to hop it up, do you always cue a release to come off the hotzone at the end of the game? I'm looking for a way to signal that she's welcome to stay on her bed if she's comfy when we're done. But I don't want to leave her in a "cued" position, if that makes sense.
