I remember this program all those years ago.I was shocked and horrified then and still am watching it again.I cannot believe that horrible manageress nor the staff. How sad to see the once famous hotel in Liverpool, now the worst. Its a out time it was closed down.
The fact that Eileen not only kept her job after this....but seems to have been heavily promoted since...tells me everything I need to know about this company!
12:24 Nowadays that wouldn't be a factor. The original idea to stop people from bringing in take-aways into a hotel was to encourage room service. However most hotels today have limited staff during the evenings and they couldn't cope with additional demands on their workers.
....a lot of my uploaded videos keep getting 'blocked' for having just little snippets of Beatles music on ....which is why I haven't uploaded much recently !
@@Sam-bz1hr ...no, sorry - I only recorded this one because it was the week the annual Beatles Convention was held there . I last stayed there for what would've been John's 80th birthday , and my ankle got scratched by an exposed bedspring - so I turned the mattress over ! I was kept awake most of the night by people slamming doors and messing about running up and down the fire escape ....after visiting the pubs and clubs I expect...
Couldn't do it now. This was filmed in 1997, and in 1998 the National Minimum Wage Act came into place which would stop such a penalty for low paid workers.
@@MatgoStyles Filmed in ‘96 and aired ‘97. You’re right. Working Time regs prohibited point of sale & uniform deductions. Much has changed for the better.
...best wishes to all the BeatlesWeek visitors , who are THERE now !! Tomorrow morning at 11am , they are unveiling a Brian Epstein statue on Whitechapel , where his NEMS store used to be.
The customer is always right. Except here it seems, where you're a nuisance. Just stayed there recently. The room was okay but the place does need some massive investment. Drawer fronts fell off in my hand. Doors with holes in. Wallpaper peeling off the walls. It's a shock if you're used to modern hotels so be ready for that.
It's ok for base to explore Liverpool and it's cheap and if you go on a national holiday coach trip Beatles weekend special from teesside say it's £99 including bed breakfast (buffet style) it's a great way to see Liverpool including The entertainment thrown in as well as a 99p bar
The guy with half a window, was right, and for the manager calling him a nuicence, how rude, the office women needed to go on a customer service course, as she was crap at handling a simple request. Staff are common as muck.
He was a nuisance and probably a professional one. He should be on a register of professional complainers and banned from hotels in future. Every hotel has a range of rooms and an old one such as the Adelphi will have some terrible ones, some amazing suites and everything in between. If you book the cheapest discount room when the hotel is full, expect the worst. In fact he did not get the worst as some guest rooms at the Adelphi don't even have windows. Caveat emptor. He was a nuisance for using up staff time to the detriment of his fellow guests. Ban him on a public register.
@@Chasing28Smith12 you have obviously not got much experience with customers then. It enforces the integrity of a business to call an unfair punter out.
First rule is the customer is always right. Bloody awful hotell rud and confrontional staff. People should be able to eat their takeways in there room if they want. That awfull general manager is like rotviler.
Not gonna watch this after seeing scouse solidarity with the rest of England demonstrated in the Grand National episode. What a bunch of wankers. Only one premier league still, Karma!
